The big barn was built over 100 years ago and is still standing. The farm house was built in 1907. It has been remodeled with a second story added. Pine trees were planted to prevent erosion in the 1960's. The national park began buying land near us in the 1970's and the boundary line to the park is a half-mile from Moonshadow Camp. The area is surrounded by state forests and many hiking and biking trails. Our valley is known for incredible stargazing. Amenities include full access to the Camp kitchen and dining area. You will also have access to a Portable restroom and hand washing station which is located by our BIG BARN. Hot Showers, no problem, you can enjoy a secluded private shower in our shower house which has indoor and outdoor showers. Nearby is Lake Michigan and Esch Rd beach. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore is nearby and The National Park is famous for attractions , trails, and hiking. 20 amp Electricity and Water is included in the RV site.

You must back into the driveway from the road (there are no pull through sites). Our driveway is 15' - 20' wide for ease of backing up. 20/30/50 amp electrical, sewer, water, internet WIFI (100mbs), fire pit (please do not move fire pits), and a picnic table are included for each site. Trash bin is at the road. The sites are level, consist of crushed concrete gravel covered by 6a stone, and are 12' wide. One family per site unless you are booking as a group.   Check-In is 1:00 p.m. and Check-Out is 11:00 a.m. At this time, we DO NOT accommodate stand alone tent camping as we have no restroom facilities. Bring your boats, canoes, kayaks, bathing suits, and fishing poles!  Less than a 3 minute walk to Echo Township Park (Six Mile Lake) with beach, playground and boat launch (yes, you can literally walk there).  25 minutes to Torch Lake Township Day Park (Torch Lake), Antrim Creek Nature Area (Lake Michigan), Norwood Township Park (Lake Michigan), Elm Pointe Recreation area (Lake Charlevoix's South Arm), or Notewares Landing Beach (Lake Bellaire).  This is by far the coolest place east of the Mississippi to hit rivers, streams, and lakes. Excellent stay and we’ll be back next year. Moonshadow will be our new go-to place when visiting Sleeping Bear. Robb and Jeanne were accommodating and friendly. I look forward to visiting again and taking a longer stay

Perhaps the best place I've stayed at on hip camp. Definitely top 5. Robb and Jeanne have a really great place. The photos are accurate. The pine forest was great. At night you can hear the wind traveling from one side to the other. I love the clean flat carpet of pine needles. In the morning we drove about 5 minutes to lake Michigan Beach which was gorgeous. No bugs at all this time of year. I liked the community fireplace because it was all setup and quick to get a fire going. There is a volleyball court in the grass too.

This was our second year staying at the Camp Moonshadow. It is quiet and relaxing place to unwind. The hosts were very nice and welcoming. The camp is close distance to a lot of state parks and hiking trails with beautiful views to Lake Michigan.

This place was rad! Super quiet and clean. The showers were Hot and toilets were clean. I drove north to Arts Tavern for Breakfast @ 8am, it was great! I’d camp here again.

Loved Loved Loved our stay at Camp Moonshadow! Super easy directions to get there and on the land. It was such a beautiful spot and literally had everything we needed. We will be coming back for sure. So close to Lake Michigan but without all crowds. Magical time

I cannot say enough positive things about camp moonshadow. The hosts are so helpful and communicative, the site for tents is spread out and stunning surrounded by pines, and the access to resources like the bathrooms, outdoor shower, and kitchen are amazing. Not to mention, here’s a beach five minutes down the road that is beautiful and where we spent most of our nights. Close proximity to sleeping bear dunes (20 minutes to the dune climb) and a quick 30/40 minute drive to traverse city. Four nights was nowhere near enough. We will be back soon!

Perfectly fine for a night. Owner is really friendly. Pretty basic but still nice. Not really a campground, more of an open field in someone's backyard. But still perfect for one night and had porta potties and a shower which was really refreshing!

We loved camping at Robb and Jeanne's land! They have great communal spaces like the indoor/outdoor shower house, kitchen, picnic dining area, and porta johns. A beautiful spot to relish in the tall Michigan pine trees and green forest! It was awesome being so close to the beach, and glen arbor.

Camp Moonshadow exceeded all of our expectations! The location was perfect for exploring the area, the bathrooms were keep super clean, and the camp kitchen had everything you could need to cook. They even had a space to charge your phone if need be. My only comment would be that if you are not able bodied enough to hike/haul your gear up a somewhat steep hill, it may not be for you! Other than that, we adored every second of our time here and cant wait to come back.

Great location located amongst towering pine trees. Access to a hot shower, cooking kitchen, picnic tables. Had fun on the volleyball court. Sad we had to leave a day early, but our kiddo became ill.
