Weekend Trip to Ricky’s Pine River hunt/camp
It was a great cabin just as expected. We had a wonderful time winter camping. Stayed warm and toasty inside the cabin with the wood burning stove. I was impressed with all the extra things in the cabin like a spatula which was very handy for breakfast when we made pancakes. I would 100% go back. Beautiful experience.

The cabin at Ricks was perfect inside & out.
Everything you need for a beautiful secluded off grid experience. Excellent snow shoeing all over the property. He was very accommodating. Showed me around, helped get me acclimated & kept me stocked up with wood on the cold February nights. Will definitely be back.

We loved camping at Rick’s! The cabin was well stocked with spices, flashlights, cozy and nice bedding. Rick resupied firewood for us and pointed out the trails to explore. The view from the cabin porch was beautiful with lots of colorful trees. The firepit was huge and we used the grates to cook over the fire. We’re coming back next summer!

Rick's place was such a gift. There were so many signs of thoughtfulness and insight into his prepared mind. Not only was the cabin equipped w/ basics but he also offers extras such as raincoats, hammocks, and what not. The property is well cared for, he has beautifully growing plants on the front porch The outhouse was actually nice, well stocked, and it was clean! The cabin too, was very clean, cleanest tiny cabin in woods I've seen yet! I like how he designed and decorated the cabin, it felt much bigger than it was. The framed bear art was so enjoyable to look at, each time I'd find something I hadn't before. It was like a mix between a Hieronymus Bosch piece and a teddy bears picnic! I highly recommend, he's a really nice easy going guy, pleasant to communicate with.

Rick's cabin is so beautiful! He really has built a little slice of heaven in the woods. We had so much fun talking to him and meeting his sweet dog! We loved relaxing on the covered deck watching the fire below dance in the stoic stone firepit. Our son rode his bike and explored all around the trails on Rick's land, we hiked them too. Lots of nature to observe and the smells of the woods were delightful. This cabin was just what we were looking for in a quick family getaway! Rick has a large table for the kitchen counter setup with propane stoves, utensils, and a large glass water jug with an electric pump! The beds on the bunk were really comfortable, and the wood stove was so nice in the early mornings to warm the cabin up. The small dining table was perfect for taking it easy, drinking coffee and gazing out the window at the diverse trees. Rick also has a battery powered fan, and shop vac which were such nice things to have! He provided the firewood for both the outdoor pit and the small wood stove inside. The cabin is also a few miles from Yoder's of Tustin for some groceries, supplies, lots of baked treats and deli items including sandwiches. We drove to see the Pine River and the scenery around the area.
Rick is a wonderful host! We will be back!! Thank you, Rick!!

When AI makes a cabin - this is the cabin it is copying. You will be able to walk the land until you are exhausted. Host was great. I would love to see it in snow.

We had a girls weekend, and it was hands down the perfect fit. We aren't the city type of women even though we live and work in cities...
Rick and Jack were absolutely amazing hosts. The cabin had literally everything that we needed. We just had to show up with food and clothes. Keep in mind there is no refrigerator. Lol it's off grid.
The beds were super comfortable. We just kept the clean bedding on and placed our stuff over top. We moved things around to for our stay( yes we cleaned up and put it all back, as you should lol). Even the outhouse was very clean and stocked.
The amount of trails and things you could find to do on the land were pretty awesome. we wound up getting lost...so make sure you figure out your bearings before you leave.google maps and common sense helped Lol. He has plenty of lights/ flashlights to use... To stove kept us warm (filling a water pan and keeping it on top helped a lot with the humidity/allergies) Really.. The only thing that we would recommend is maybe putting some lights leading to the outhouse.
He kept us well stocked on firewood, we even got to watch him drop a tree for us. Lol the night is BLACK. But the sounds are amazing! We can't wait to be able to go back. Hubby and I will be returning for a romantic getaway too! Btw JACK is the softest and sweetest dog ever! Can't wait to see him again!

July 2025, two nights.
I consider myself rather “self sufficient” when it comes to camping. When I get away, I like to get away from everything I possibly can. Well, with a dog recovering from surgery, and deciding to put less work into a camping trip, I decided to give this a shot… And Rick delivered 1000 times over.
I had what I needed (except my spatula, Rick had one ready), and Rick’s beautiful space provided exactly what I was looking for. This is the perfect getaway for someone like me. I usually put a ton of planning into tenting, hiking in and out, and minimal packing… But this time, I packed the backpack, cooler, guitar, wife, and dog and had one of the most relaxing weekends I can remember. Didn’t get out the guitar, didn’t need it. The silence, well you know, mixed in with birds and some critters, provided all of the therapy of the forest I needed.
Highlights: the sound of rain on the metal roof, the peace, and the absolute work of art Rick put together in the middle of the forest.
Highly recommend to all “skill levels” of camping. I’ll be back, for sure. I want to see this spot with some snow.
