In 1831 formerly Northern's Mill had an old mill house, dwelling house, outbuildings, mill pond and water courses with about 31 acres and was bought for an enormous amount of
$10.00!
At the working mill the owner's wife baked pies for the workers to enjoy
while they waited for their ground grains (most likely corn, soybeans and wheat).
The pond is also recognized as
Courtney Mill Pond and Kissinger Mill Pond.

Fresh and salt water surrounds a birding, fishing paradise with 5 acres to explore. Bald Eagles are a common siting. We offer a primitive camping experience in the heart of the Northern Neck. The road is washed out and fresh water pond mostly drained. You will access from Mundy Point Road. This historical site had a working Mill built in the early 1800's. Please check out my friend's place nearby at Callao Brewery and Rivah Vineyards at the Grove! Grab some fresh local veggies from one of the Amish stands and don't forget your tackle and bait at RW's.
Camp 1 has the most room for car camping and groups close to the road and overlooking the pond.
Camp 2 is a short hike to a private knoll overlooking the grassy marsh of Mill Creek, this is tidal water that flows to the Potomac.

Weekend Trip to Private Farm House w lake
We can't recommend the Farmhouse enough!!! A refreshing swimming lake and nature all to ourselves. Peaceful but with all the creature comforts of a soft bed, full kitchen, and WiFi :) The space is large enough that everyone could do what they wanted. We fed the goats, gathered some eggs, hiked the woods, paddled and swam in the lake, then we had drinks in the screened in patio. Bug free! We did not regret a second of our visit.

The house was so cute a cozy. It is a real house with electricity, internet, TV, dvd player, and Netflix, a full kitchen, and the bathroom is right beside the upstairs bedroom. The view from the bed in the morning was a beautiful huge tree in the field. Down the hill is a very large pond. I can see a float and canoes that would be great in the summer. There is a huge pavilion beside the lake with couches, a long table, chairs, a grill, and a refrigerator. There are two outside RV toilet stalls at the lake too. When I drove in I saw horses in a field and a little donkey running around, playing in a a pen. I stopped and watched. Close to the house they have goats in a pen and they wanted me to pat them. The owner, Maria, told me I could. She also has a pig and chickens. I enjoyed the solitude but this place would be wonderful for a family outing or corporate retreat. I forgot a few things, so Maria directed me to a nearby Walmart in Tappahannock. I highly recommend a stay at Maria's farm.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely campsite and look forward to coming back. The car camp site was spacious with a fire ring, and the walk-in site is past the first site down a path that goes along the creek. Our stay was peaceful and we enjoyed watching and listening to the local wildlife.

Raymond’s campground was amazing! The pond was great for swimming and the fishing was very good. The campground isn’t too far from Trap Pond State Park so I’d highly recommend staying here if you’re thinking of visiting the park. Also only 40 minutes from Bethany Beach. Raymond was incredibly friendly and had everything we needed. Plenty of firewood, picnic tables, and some canoes for the pond as well. Would definitely go back!

John and Holly were great hosts with exceptional Southern hospitality. John gave exact pin point directions on the location in which we would camp but also was open to what we wanted out of our weekend. He already had several spots picked out on their beautiful property. Don’t forget about the farm fresh eggs you can add on as well as hand delivered wood straight to your site. This is an upcoming property that we can’t wait to come back to.. might I add a winery is within 10 minutes walking distance that gives a free tasting for staying on his property. We camped with two pups who loved being able to be off leash and enjoy the nearby creek.

John’s “glamping by the lake” site features a comfortable and sturdy tent on a small peninsula. We loved the sense of being almost surrounded by the water and greenery. My dogs thought the geese and fish were fascinating. The wine next door was a pleasant add-on that helped our fire-pit cooked food go down nicely.

Weekend Trip to Sleigh Hill Farm
We had an amazing time camping over the long weekend, the spot is super private and relaxing, and John was an amazing and attentive host. He even gave us a tour of his property and the future and current sites. The winery next door had some pretty great wines and the owner was very nice. We brought our dogs along and were surprised at how dog friendly the entire place was. Overall we would definitely recommend John and Hollie’s place, and we will definitely be returning as well.

This was a very nice and quiet place to stay! I felt completely safe, and the rope lighting was a neat addition to the site. The water wasn't at the site, due to it being winter, but Suzette allowed me to fill my fresh water tank at her house, just up the hill from the site. I would definitely request to come back if I'm ever in the area again!
