The place was spotlessly clean, and it provided a truly peaceful environment. We had such a beautiful stay at Moose Hill Tavern Cabin. From the moment we arrived, it felt like a true escape. The cabin is incredibly private — peaceful, quiet, and perfectly tucked away — yet still easy to find. It gave us exactly what we needed: uninterrupted time to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and simply slow down.
The thoughtful touches, especially the collection of books, made it feel warm and welcoming. We spent our time relaxing, reading, and just being present — something that’s hard to come by these days.
Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. It was the perfect reset, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.

Weekend Trip to Moose Hill Cabin
Sadie's cabin is the perfect spot for a cozy weekend away, or as a base camp to explore some lesser seen parts of Maine.
We stayed at the cabin on the coldest weekend of the winter thus far (below -10 overnight), and found it surprisingly easy to stay warm, and exceedingly comfortable. For an off grid cabin, with no running water, we expected to rely a lot on our gear, but instead Sadie has equipped the cabin with most thing's that one would need.
Sadie herself was very communicative, and very generous. All the things you would hope for in a host.
We would gladly stay again, for another comfortable wintery escape, or as a lovely spot to come back to after a day of exploring.

What a wonderful cabin! Make sure to enjoy the warmth of the wood stove while you hear the sounds of nature (and the occasional train). Not for those who need electricity, wifi, cell service, or running water, but if you want to get off the grid whole being less than an hour from the nearest large town, then this is for you.

This property is very clean, well maintained and peaceful. There is easy access to numerous well marked ATV, snow mobile and hiking trails. The owners are super helpful and have thought of everything that will make the off grid camping experience a memorable one. Everyone in the surrounding area is friendly and willing to share their knowledge of the region. If you’re looking to spend a few quiet days away from it all, this is the camp to visit. I’ll be back again at my first opportunity!

Very quiet area & we never heard any other visitors or residents around us the entire stay. Expect rustic conditions, wildlife, & lots of shade. Very modern - running water from a mountain water well, lighting, propane stove & oven, a large kitchen counter, a kitchen table with four chairs, a super comfortable leather chair & ottoman, a jackknife sofa, a queen bed, & a set of bunk beds. There is also a very new wood burning stove with lots of wood. There is also a wall heater that is fueled by propane. Stocked with cutlery, service utensils, glasses, & mugs. Has a large Blackstone grill under cover. Chairs around the outside of the property. Owners supplied a large cooler.
• Outdoor sink. Two large picnic tables. Typical outhouse, is very new & close to front door. State owned bathroom just a few minute drive.
• Large outdoor shower with HOT water near front door.
• All amenities very easy to use just follow the directions.
• Mountain trails for hikes for every level of hiker with signs of wildlife.
• Nearby - Produce stand called Arnold’s Farm Market nearby.
• Fort Kent –Canadian Border Crossing & the Swamp Bucket restaurant.
• Presque Isle - coffee shops & The Riverside Inn Restaurant.
• Caribou – go to “Sleepers” for clothing & the bowling alley. HUGE!

What a beautiful property! Ashlee was a great host and answered all of my questions. She had the wood stove going, so we arrived to a nice warm cabin (and even made sure my dog had pillows to lay on!) She met us briefly to ensure we found our way to the cabin and to make sure we were comfortable operating the wood stove and power pack. I left the front porch with my skis on and had endless trails to explore. Deer, moose, and rabbit tracks all over. The stars at night were amazing. This was a perfect cozy winter getaway. Looking forward to spending a weekend here during the fall months for some hunting on nearby public lands!

Ashlee was an awesome host and the cabin was lovely. It’s little, but well organized and has everything you need. The sleeping nook is cozy. The area and trails are beautiful, especially covered in snow. We saw fresh moose tracks and scat on the trail! My dog loved staying warm by the wood stove.

This little remote off grid cabin is adorable and Sadie keeps it very well stocked and has even left a little binder with general info, trails, and where to get groceries should you need to make a stop to replenish supplies. I would recommend bringing a cooler if you plan on bringing food with you as there is no fridge.
There are many trails around if you like hiking and alot of bodies of water to go kayaking/canoeing. Keep in mind that cell service is non-existent near the cabin. You will be able to connect to satellite for texts/location share.
We enjoyed our time and will be back in Spring to explore on kayaks!
