The water level in the Basin rose by several feet, permanently flooding many areas, and people who had made their homes there eventually moved to communities on the dry, western side of the levee--Henderson, Catahoula, Bayou Benoit and beyond--leaving no trace of the old settlements behind. Only one community remained. Perched on a ridge along the banks of the Atchafalaya River, Butte La rose is the only community in St. Martin Parish that is still located between the Basin levees. No other place can claim to be the heart of Atchafalaya as credibly as Butte La Rose can. The community is nestled against one of the more winding meanderings of the Atchafalaya River, and residents remain closely tied to the river and other nearby waterways--fishing, crawfishing, frogging and hunting, enjoying bayou-side crawfish boils and pleasure boating. So many waterways surround Butte La Rose--Butte La Rose Canal, Henderson Lake, Lake Begneaux, Lake Pelba--it's as close to an island as you can get without actually being an island. We are only 3 miles from interstate 10 but we are a small remote camping village. Many hummingbirds visit here every year. They arrive in March and leave in Sept. Wow this wonderful place is not only charming but has so much to do around it. Ginny & Scotty are the most wonderful hosts. Ginny has all information for you when you arrive about restaurants, local pubs, 100 yr old store that was a gem. They have a very level spot with a picnic table, Tiki torches and a very nice porch to sit and enjoy getting to know each other. We cant wait to come back.

Awesome site! Very nice and easy access right off the road. We arrived late at night and were able to drive right in and hookup since the host had provided extension connections for all services. Very quiet location and very well maintained. Hosts were very kind and provided us with printed local information for the area as well as a small gift. Would definitely visit again the next time we are in the area!

Absolutely the sweetest hosts we have ever encountered. We ended up with car trouble just before we hit the campsite and they were so kind and helpful. Upon arrival we recieved a brochure highlighting local history and attractions complete with good recommendations and sites to see, and even a welcome gift. We decided to stay an extra night. Hosts are friendly and kind, site it well kept and peaceful, and the setting couldn’t be more lovely.

This is the perfect place to relax and listen to the woods and nothing else. Super quiet. Private lake is well stocked with various types of fish. Spacious, with nature trails that lead in to Old Growth Forests. Spectacular view of the stars at night. Real dry camping spots between the woods and the lake with picnic table and fire pit. The host, DeShon is a genuine good person. While maintaining the campground, he is also actively engaged in helping the youth in the community on numerous levels. One of a kind, good honest guy. We really enjoyed our two nights at Damon’s camp site. It was so quiet and peaceful, exactly what we needed. Upon arrival, Damon provided the electric cord and it was easy to get hooked up. Water hose was near by, the shower and flush toilet, located in an older trailer was much appreciated.

A great little RV park in Baton Rouge. A lot of amenities available: a large pool, a small laundry area, a small convenience store in the main office area, ice machine ($3 a bag), and a lazy river (this was probably the only not great feature as the water was about a foot low and not really flowing). Would definitely stay again if we ever pass through again.

Tigers Trail is a great RV spot close to everything in Baton Rouge! We spent two nights there at the tail end of a 3 week road trip, and it was a nice place to relax before heading home. Unfortunately the rain and wind kept us from enjoying their pool and pickleball courts. WiFi was excellent, very clean.
