Weekend Trip to The Kilns @ The Red River Gorge

We had a wonderful stay at the Kilns! The location was incredibly convenient—just a short drive to many of the main attractions in Red River Gorge. The hostess, Kim, was very friendly and welcoming, and the overall environment was peaceful and relaxing. We especially appreciated the list of recommended locations she provided; it helped us make the most of our time exploring the area. Would definitely stay here again!

2 nights at The LAAAAND (just you & 50 acres)

We think Carli’s place is absolutely beautiful. It’s quiet and there are beautiful views a short hike from the camp spot. And the camp spot has an incredible deck to sit on and watch the natural surroundings. Unfortunately we had a lot of rain but even still it was a wonderful getaway and we will definitely come back!!!!

Weekend Trip to Possum Ridge Ranch

We had a great time tent camping at Possum Ridge! The camp sites were beautiful and spaced out so we had privacy. The bath house was very clean and well maintained. The owners were very accommodating, they checked on us once a day to make sure we were ok and provided drinks and popsicles for the kids along with coffee and other necessities at the common area. We definitely would come back and recommend this place to others!

We had a lovely night all to ourselves on this spacious farm on our drive from Virginia to Colorado . Our dogs loved it! Plenty of games and fun things for kids, including disc golf. We had a couple of questions and the host was very responsive..

4 nights at Boone Valley Campground

Boone Valley Campground is the place to be. If you are looking for a nice quiet camping experience you have to check this place out. The owner Ben is one of the coolest fellas you'll ever meet. We camp 10 to 20 times a year and this has been one our our favorite spots ever. Very close to natural bridge and the gorge.

Weekend Trip to Camp Kokovoko

We stayed at the Dixon Hilltop Campsite. It is beautiful and secluded. If you like primitive camping - this is the place for you. Sunrises over the hill with a cup of cowboy coffee are amazing. Our kids were able to roam around, but we still felt very safe and comfortable with them out of our site. Kokovoko Farm is a lovely "little" working farm. If you take the time to talk to the host Leslie you will get lots of lovely little insights to the farm and a great history of the Gotland ponies she raises. Fair warning this is primitive camping and about as close to backpacking with out moving everyday that you can get. So if you expect easy camping with electricity, toilets and lots of water - this is not for you. If that sound great to you then this is the perfect little slice of camping heaven!

Beautiful property with several spots. We chose to tent camp with electricity in order to work during Friday day and was placed near the stage. We had a wide open space with nice views of the farm. We enjoyed walking the trails. Next time, we will try primitive camping at one of the more private and shady sites. There were a few other campers there which was nice to chat. We were offered the use of the bathroom at the house which worked well for us. Overall, a great stay.

Great little private campground. Everything about my experience was fantastic. Bathroom's could be setup to be more practical and functional with necessities but I made it work. I will stay here again if I am in the area.

Great big flat area with really neat covered eating area and very clean outhouse. Very convient to Gorge related activities. There is road noise but you cannot see the road at all. Nice hike on property. Would visit again.

The site by the big oak tree and very large and flat. Definitely the site to book when you come here. The short hike along the waterfall is nice. The outhouse and outdoor kitchen are great. Will be back for sure.

Land was beautiful! Horses were beautiful! It was so quiet and serene on the land. And close to gas and stores. Hosts were so sweet. They told us about the horses and their names. Kim was very welcoming. She offered to give us a canopy for the rain, she let us use the music stage to hang out hammocks and cook. She even let us plug our electric vehicle into the music stage. We had a wonderful stay, would highly recommend :)

Weekend Trip to The LAAAAND (just you & 50 acres)

Just what my sould neded! Perfect is the first word that comes to mind when I think about our stay! This location was so great we didn't even leave to kayak or hike off the property like we had planned because there is plenty to take in and enough hiking on the property there's no reason to leave! The water falls were so beautiful and the short hike to the cliff edge was perfect for taking in the sunset, we set up a hammock and chair and spent hours there! We had enough service to make and receive calls for a situation that came up at home so that was a plus! The views are like something from National Geographic! The cicadas were everywhere and extremely loud but a sound we got used to, during sunset they quiet down and the whole place comes alive with the sound of frogs, crickets, and the soothing sound of the waterfall. The deck was great it is where we set up our tent and table and chairs for hanging around! Trails were marked and wore down enough to follow easily. The hike down to the waterfall could be tricky of your not sure on your feet, getting back up will test how In shape you think you are as we found out. I have officially added this spot to our favorites list!

Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife around but no hunting is allowed. Our designated tent sites do have firepits and picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Pets are welcome for $10 per pet/per booking and they do need to be leashed/under control at all times. This is an extra so please be sure to add that if you plan to bring your pet. Please pick up after them. We are a short driving distance from West Liberty, Cave Run Lake, Grayson Lake, Carter Caves, Morehead, Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge. We are approximately 20 minutes from the nearest store so you'll want to come prepared. We are located in West Liberty (Morgan County). There is a centrally located bathhouse with toilet, shower and sink and a hose for potable water. We have firewood for sale for $15 per bundle and is an extra option when booking(use what you need during your stay and it is located at the tent sites), you can bring your own and you are welcome to gather from the surrounding area but please do not cut down any living trees/limbs.

We're a family that loves to camp; and while we love a stop at a KOA or community campground, we sometimes crave quiet time in nature without the noise and distraction of other campers. That's what makes The LAAAAND so special. The property is comprised of 50 pristine acres, with a mix of fields and woods, that bump up against another 250 acres owned by our family friends. The southern perimeter of the property is all cliff line, so you feel truly remote. The possibilities of sound pollution are limited to a far-off dog barking, horses being ridden down a nearby trail, or the possible hum of a distant lumber yard. Other than that, you'll mostly hear the wind rustling trees, deer and critters making their way through the woods, and possibly a waterfall at certain times of the year. Oh, and you will absolutely hear whipoorwhills, most likely at a time you'd rather not (we've decided they're charming). Over the nearly 2 decades we've owned this property we have spent countless weekends enjoying the simplest of pleasures; watching butterflies dance in the tree canopy, having dance parties at sunset on the deck, forging new trails and hiking into the unkown, sitting in the truck bed late at night gazing at a star-covered sky counting shooting stars. If you are looking for a space and place to reset and reconnect, The LAAAAND is waiting for you. This is a beautiful piece of property in the Red Lick Valley with a combination of pastures and deep woods. It is absolutely beautiful all year around. Pitch your tent in our secluded area along Locust Branch Creek. There are spots available with shade at least part of the day and direct access to the creek. You can walk the creek bed, rock hunt, listen to the creek pass by and enjoy the serenity of nature. This is in the corner of our 540-acre farm which was once part of the Locust Branch School. Here you are welcome to hike the fields and woods. We have rustic trails in the woods and pastures you can explore. This is part of a farm, so we have dogs, horses and other animals. These include Highland cattle, Idaho pasture pigs, mini donkeys, goats and more! You will also likely see us out working. This is Kentucky so we do have snakes, ticks and other bugs so it is best to be prepared. If you want to take some excursions, visit nearby Berea, Irvine or the Daniel Boone National Forest with all it has to offer, including the Red River Gorge!
