Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife but NO hunting is allowed. Some of our designated tent sites do have firepits and/or picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Pets are welcome for $10 per pet/per booking and they do need to be leashed/under control at all times. This is an extra so please be sure to add that if you plan to bring your pet. Please pick up after them. We are a short driving distance from West Liberty, Cave Run Lake, Grayson Lake, Carter Caves, Morehead, Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge. This was my first glamping experience and I simply loved it! The yurts looked more magical on site and we had a cozy bonfire and toasted marshmallows by the fire. Me and my friends are glad we chickened out of camping and did glamping instead because it provided us more comfort and coziness than camping. We woke up to horses running around near the area and had another fire. Totally worth the trip!

2 nights at The Harrican Lakehouse

This cabin won me over the moment I walked in. It was warm, cozy, and the loft was surprisingly spacious. The porch is the real showstopper, and even though it was too cold to sit out for long, the views from every window were gorgeous. It even started snowing while we were there, which added this wild, magical atmosphere to the whole stay. The only downsides were the not-so-comfy seating, the heat being a little too powerful overnight, and the outhouse being a long chilly walk with a very rustic setup. None of it ruined the experience, but it is worth knowing before you go. Leslie loved the lake and all the open space to explore. I even had to hop in a kayak to fetch her ball when she refused to wade into the cold water, which felt like peak dog mom adventure energy. Slippers were clutch since the floors get cold and they were perfect for padding out onto the porch. The best moment was watching the sunrise roll in over the misty lake. Quiet, spooky, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful. I would stay again without hesitation.

My parents, myself and two dogs had an awesome weekend at the Harrican Lakehouse. It was super quiet, restful and exactly as marketed. It was chilly at night and we all stayed super cozy in the house and by the fire. The only thing I would recommend to future guests is to bring your own pillow and coffee pot if you and your guests drink multiple cups. The one provided is just a little small.

I stayed at this lake house on a road trip around Kentucky while visiting from Oregon. The location is very remote and private and the hosts were great! I even ended up adopting a puppy from them lol The lake is gorgeous especially at sunrise and sunset. There’s chairs on the wrap around deck, multiple kayaks, a fire pit (bring wood), and a dock. The lake house provides you with hand soap, towels, bedding. The kitchen has utensils/plates/bowls/pots/pans, a radio, a fridge/freezer, stove/oven, and sink. Bring your own dish soap and paper towels if needed. We spent the day fishing on the lake and doing a puzzle inside. I’d bring extra blankets if you are visiting in the fall as it gets chilly. Overall, a wonderful stay and I’d definitely visit again if I’m back in Kentucky!

Weekend Trip to Red River Gorge Glamping & Cabins

I absolutely adored our yurt stay in the Gorge. The property is perfect, the yurt is spacious, has electricity, a small fridge, space heater if needed, a very comfy bed, and cute outdoor lights. The bathhouse is wonderful with a hot shower and shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There are toilets on the end of each side of the bath house. There is one campfire for the whole yurt village which I loved! It gave us a real community feel and we got to know 6 other friends around the fire one night. There is cornhole, dart board and horseshoes as well. It would be helpful to know that the parking lot that you are supposed to use can only be accessed by the "road" to the right that doesn't look like a road after you turn off the main one. The other road takes you to the property as well and some of us parked there as well since all of our cars wouldn't have fit in the other lot. You will love this sweet place! I am inspired to buy some property and make my own yurt village now.

Nice little place on a pond. Morning coffee with the sunrise on the porch. Evening sunset with the campfire. Woods for hiking and fields for walking. My dogs have decided that they love fishing and require a pond at our house now. The place looks well cared for and the host was friendly and quick to reply to any questions. I would definitely book again/recommend this place.

The A frame cabins are absolutely adorable. The entire property is beautiful. The club house has everything you need for a wonderful glamping experience. This Lakehouse is what the photos show and SO MUCH MORE! The peace and contentment that comes with a walk on that porch is priceless! Floating in the kayak is pure heaven, and sunrise was absolutely magical! We look forward to coming back for years to come. Bridgette and her husband ( sorry his name escapes me I’m awful like that! ) were so very warm and welcoming! You’ll not regret this stay. We only had one night here but we loved it! It was very clean. Very peaceful! We were the only ones there but if there are other people you have to share the fire pit. So if you dont like that, I wouldn't recommend it. Otherwise, very nice place to stay! Nowhere for kids to play except the grass area around the yurts. Would be nice for a family to rent all the yurts and have the place to yourself. There are 5 all together if I remember correctly. One thing I would say is dont go by the coordinates it says . Use the actual address it gives you. The coordinates stop in the middle of the road and you still have approximately 3 miles to go.

Bridgett was very friendly and accommodating to requests such as early arrival and checking out late. Their property is amazing, especially if you’re wanting to get away into nature. The end of the drive is about 10-15 minutes at 25 mph down narrow streets through hills and farmland. The lake house itself has a perfect mix of charm and functionality (2 air conditioning units and a great ceiling fan on top floor!) with a kitchen with a good mix of dishes and pots and pans. I’d recommend staying up late on the back porch and waking up early before the sun rises to truly appreciate the wildlife and nature. I would love to visit again someday!

Where to go

Central Red River Gorge

Follow the 46-mile Red River Gorge Scenic Byway for spectacular views across the gorge, admire the unique rock formations and natural arches along the Angel Window or Sheltowee trails, or put your rock climbing and rappelling skills to the test. Koomer Ridge campground is the only developed campground in the main gorge area, but you’ll also find private campgrounds, cabins, yurts, and treehouses with views of the gorge.

Northwest & Daniel Boone

The 900-foot-long Nada Tunnel marks the western entrance to the Red River Gorge, and some of the most renowned rock formations and arches can be found nearby. Further north, the Daniel Boone National Forest is nirvana for hikers, and self-sufficient campers can enjoy dispersed camping throughout the national forest land. Or, for a change of scenery, head away from the gorge to enjoy boating, fishing, and lakeside camping at Cave Run Lake.

Southwest & Natural Bridge

The Natural Bridge State Resort Park encompasses much of the southwestern region of the Red River Gorge, where you’ll find some of the most easily accessible hikes and campgrounds. Hike or ride the Skylift to the park’s namesake Natural Bridge, rent a kayak or canoe along the river, then check in one of the campgrounds or rent a cozy cottage. Nearby, Muir Valley is a popular spot for rock climbing, while Campton is the starting point for ziplining excursions across the gorge.

If you’re looking to escape the crowds, pack your tent and hit the trails of the vast Clifty Wilderness area. Dense forests, rugged ridges, and streams provide plenty of tranquil backcountry camping spots, or you can bring your kayak or canoe to paddle the wild waterways of the Red River. In the southeastern corner of the gorge, the Rock Bridge Trail is a perennial favorite, with views of the natural bridge and waterfall.
