Primitive camping with trails, and a creek. Located at the end of E John’s St. In Blanchester Ohio. Very peaceful, and beautiful. Close to downtown restaurants and shopping, but feels like you are out in the wilderness. You must bring your own camp toilet, this is very primitive. It is not uncommon to see natural wildlife such as deer, squirrel, and raccoon. Fishing is permitted (largest one caught was 6”). Responsible fire welcome, firewood can be purchased on site. Several hiking trails on site.

My campground has 2 gravel hookups. Each hookup has city water, 50 amp electric, and sewer hookup. If you need 30 amp, I will rent a refundable reducer for $20. My house is nearby. Beautiful Cave Run Lake is nearby. It is 6 miles from the campground. One can hike, fish, kayak, boat ride etc…. We are 21 miles from Natural Bridge and 15 miles from Red River Gorge!!

Weekend Trip to Trace Space KY

We had a great experience. This trip was about introducing a friends 9yo to hiking and camping. MJ and Alex have a wonderful spot. Thank you both. The late summer wildflower garden and pollinators were great to show the 9yo how to observe bugs safely. I will recommend this place to others who travel to the Cave Run Lake and Red River Gorge area.

We absolutely enjoyed our visit to Bear Pond. There are several spots that would be great to set up a tent but we decided to use Nola’s Cabin which was a perfect combination of amenities and very comfortable for the two of us. Easy to get to and very private. We loved being the only campers. The cooking area was nice to have and we were able to bring less stuff than we normally do which was great coming from 4 hours away. There’s loads to do in the area and stores close for supplies if needed. We can’t wait to come back and hopefully bring our family next time.

Great little spot in rural KY. Quiet, peaceful, and well-kept. Host Lola is kind and communicates clearly. Only a few spaces, so it stays calm and low-traffic. Would absolutely stay again.

Super happy to have found this sweet little spot ...even though it's in a residential area with neighbors around, there's a sense of privacy thanks to the fence that goes around part of the cabin site. I was never bothered by anyone in the area and was left to enjoy the site in peace. I'm a solo female traveler and felt very safe in the space. Recommended for single travelers or couples who want to get close and cozy. It's far enough from main roads that I wasn't bothered by traffic noise. For someone who usually primitive camps to save money on travel, the site is an incredible value with the included convenience of a protective roof over your head, a clean porta potty only several steps away, and parking right next to the site. Packing in and out has never gone so easily and quickly for me as it did here. And whenever you need something or have a question, MJ is so quick to respond and helpful in every way! Things to know before you go: Cell service is a little spotty at the site (I have TMobile). The cabin's wifi helps get your directions downloaded when you want to go places. You have to drive about 20 minutes for gas and ice, and about 30 minutes for restaurants as close as Morehead. If you go there, visit the Fuzzy Duck for coffee/tea and Coffee Tree Books, great local shops all in the same building. Lovely birds in the area and spectacular summer night lightning bug shows. The gooseberries in the garden were a special treat. I can't wait to book again!

Weekend Trip to Trace Space KY

We loved our stay at Trace Space! It truly is a unique place. The A-frame is spacious, comfortable, and really has everything you need. The whole site site is adorned with thoughtful personal touches and makes for magical stay. Theres the pollinator friendly garden, fire pit sitting area, handpainted picinc table, firefly light show, handcrafted artwork, starry night, and so much more. The A-frame frame opens up and and creates a nice little veranda feel. Mother nature decided to hit us with 90+ temps but it never felt like that there. It's a 5 star setup. The hosts were absolutely amazing. I let them know I was traveling with my daughter see the area and they went above and beyond. They knew all the spots and events going on. They made some special arrangements for her visit that made it truly memorable. She checked off a couple bucket list items! They were super helpful and absolutely wonderful. 10/10! There are so many things to do within an hour or less: Red River Gorge, Daniel Boone National Forest, Carter Caves, Natural Bridge, Cave Run... We didn't even scratch the surface. That said, I'd have been just as happy in the cabin reading or drawing the weekend away. So grateful to have found and be hosted by Trace Space. We'll be back for sure!

We really can’t say enough good things about this space and the host. The space is incredibly relaxing and comfortable. The birdwatching is amazing. And the garden was beautiful. My wife spent the weekend identifying and researching all of the plants in the garden. We were visited each day by a variety of birds including (but not limited to) Red Headed Woodpeckers, Orchard Orioles, Brown Thrashers, Cardinals, Cedar Waxwings, and many others. MJ was incredibly friendly and accommodating, answering any question we had very quickly. She is simply the most thoughtful and kind host. We highly recommend staying here.

Betty Sue and I love going to Bear Pond so peaceful. We love watching the birds 🐦 walking in the creek and waiting for the day mom lets me get in the pond! We are happy campers in a tent 🏕️ or in the cabin when it’s raining 🌧️ or snowing 🌨️ we have everything we need to just be still and relax on the porch and watch and listen to the bird’s singing we throughly enjoy the Berling’s property , properly. Only thing bad is leaving! Home away from Home 🏕️ 🐕‍🦺☮️

Once again, I had another incredible stay at Bear Pond. This time, I used Nola’s Cabin, which is available as an extra, along with firewood bundles and other amenities. Host John has included many thoughtful appointments to the cabin, including a nice-sized refrigerator with a real freezer, heating, fan, table, screens on the windows, and space for your own belongings. I am so very fussy about mattresses, but the sleep accommodations at Nola’s Cabin are outstanding. I slept incredibly well, which makes for a great day of hiking the next morning. If I had my own place in Adams County, I would want it to be like Nola's Cabin at Bear Pond.

Betty Sue, and I loved staying @ Nola’s cabin, it’s the perfect place to stay out of the elements, it offers everything you need to have a peaceful, relaxing stay. The 🌲pine trees are absolutely beautiful. My next visit I will bring my paints and sit on the porch and paint 🎨 My 100 # Cane Corso dog BettySue though she was in seventh Heaven! We both enjoyed our stay at John’s, Bear Pond property and they were perfect host. Thank you! We be back ASAP✌️

Bear pond is a must visit!! It was so peaceful out there. The night sky is beautiful out and John has the shelter equipped with all you need. It was down to 10 degrees one night but I was perfectly warm in the shelter. Highly recommended!

We had a great time camping here! The camp stove and picnic tables were really great, the tables were spread around the camp area for easy use. Nolas cabin was a lovely area for my kids to relax in with some protection from our chilly overnight temps! Extra add-on eggs and firewood made meal planning and campfires a breeze.
