Absolutely amazing site! Steven went above and beyond my expectations. We showed up with 4 kids between the ages of 5 and 12, and he pulled no stops entertaining them, including walking his horse down to our campsite for the kids to pet. Be sure to ask him what his record is with the ax throwing!!!😉😆 we will definitely be returning.

Enjoyed a bonfire on a cold evening at the Retreat, and the silo was comfortable with the wood stove keeping the chill out. We hiked around the ranch and squeezed in a little fishing. Thanks for a great evening! looking forward to another visit

We loved our experience. It was a last minute booking our drive from Kansas Missouri took us extremely long with construction all over the highway. Our host Sonya waited for us to arrive at 1am in the morning we were so embarrassed to keep her up. She was so kind and understanding. And directed us to our Lot. It was so gorgeous on top of a Hill next to a tree. We felt very safe double gated for extra comfort and peace of mind. We passed the goats 🐐 they were so cute and respectful and kind. They never bothered Us. It was so peaceful to sleep with crickets 🦗 chirping on the field at night. We would definitely stay again. They had a cute bathroom and sink loved it “Old school”. Made us feel very happy 😊 wish we could had more time to spend there but we were on tight schedule wasn’t able to say bye. Thank you again.

We made a last min reservation arrived extremely late at 1am so embarrasses that our host waited, but she was extremely nice and generous to wait for Us. We were So tired from out long drive. we just set our tent and slept. The field was so beautiful, perfect, Peaceful and quiet. You could hear the crickets at night it was very soothing. It’s a shame we didn’t make a fire-camp very cute.
The goats were so cute. The Dogs were so playful. Would Definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity to make another cross country road trip. Had to leave early in the morning Shane would could say bye or thank you!!!

We loved staying the night at Sonya's campground! She was very kind and flexible to us coming in late, and still greeted us. Her farm is very lovely with such sweet animals. It was a great visit, and I would recommend it 100% to anyone in the area!

We had such a great time camping at The Hitching Post! Steve was a friendly, helpful host who was more than happy to answer any questions we had and made sure that we felt welcome and comfortable and that we had the best camping experience possible. He even played a few rounds of disc golf with us at the course on-site!
One of the most unique and awesome things about camping here was the new 9 hole disc golf course on the property that’s open to campers. The course was the perfect mix of open fairways and wooded holes with one elevated basket, a hole with a water hazard, several holes with mandos that force strategic play, and beautiful scenery throughout-it has some small hills and varied elevations while still being cart-friendly and easy to navigate. It’s a perfect spot for beginners and veterans alike, as beginners can experience a fun round of 9 holes with neat decor and sights along the way and the avid disc golfer could easily make a day of playing this course multiple times, trying out different throws and strategies throughout.
For anyone who loves the camping and disc golf combo, The Hitching Post is absolutely the perfect spot on the map. And any camper is sure to enjoy The Hitching Post’s picturesque scenery, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and perfect touches of rustic charm. There’s no doubt that this is our new go-to camping spot, and we can’t wait to go back!

Jon and Pat were amazing hosts. Responsive and helpful. We absolutely loved our stay here and will be back. The free roaming horses and cows were incredible. We woke up to horses grazing steps from our door. It was unreal, quiet, and peaceful. Just what we needed.
