Come and spend some time at a direct-to-consumer dairy farm. Our cows are called Dutch Belted. They are often referred to as Oreo cows. Stay on the farm where the milk is produced, processed, and sold. The farm store is a short distance away and sells a large variety of farm foods. The farm consists of about 200 acres of pasture and creek bottom. The owner, Loyd, has lived on the farm all his life. We are right beside what used to be a Navy base... yeah in Kansas.:) The runway still gets used for gliders. So you might see a glider being pulled up while you are here.

I am proud to be a fourth-generation caretaker of this farm and surrounding acreage.  My great-grandfather purchased this land in 1921 and since then, my family has been farming the best way that we knew how.  For the last 30 years, that has meant a divergence from traditional farming practices to focus on regenerative farming-- farming that focuses on enriching the health of the soil and the animals instead of depleting it.On our farm, we raise beef, lamb, pigs and chickens and they all live out on pasture.  In our farm store we sell meat, eggs, and raw, all-grass dairy products like milk, butter, cheese, kefir, and yogurt.  Our customers drive from all parts of central Kansas to shop at Jako Farm because our food is different than food in the grocery store.  We call it JakoPure food. Not only do we share our life-giving, gut-restoring food with others, but we want to share the experience of our farm, too.  That's why we've started hosting guests on hipcamp so that you can truly experience what's special about our farm.  Each location provides a unique perspective on our farm, and you'll engage a different part of our story at each place.  But wherever you stake your temporary claim at Jako Farm, we hope you experience the peace and rest that we know and love.Learn more about this land:Jako Farm is a working regenerative farm, and this campsite provides an easy view of all that goes on here. The cows and sheep will graze near by while the chickens scratch in the distance.  You'll see the farmers moving the animals to new pasture and the llama playing games with the sheep.  If you're up at sunrise, you'll see Ken bringing the cows up to the barn for milking (April through November).  Its pretty quiet here, except for the subtle noises of wildlife.  (Fair warning:  if you're in a tent, you will probably hear the milking machine kick on at 6:30am.)  We're also proud to be a smell-free farm because all animals live out on pasture.  There are killer sunrises and sunsets here.  If you're lucky, you'll also see our resident bald eagle pair soaring through the sky.A bathroom with shower is available for your use in the barn nearby. Please be respectful of farm operations, although we're always open to answering questions if you see us around. Farm Tours are not included with a booking.

7.9mi from Kingman · 1 site
Nestled just east of Kingman, Kansas, the Champion Ridge farmstead offers a unique blend of history and hospitality, making it an ideal destination for travelers seeking a charming getaway. Established in 1937 by R.J. Stucky, the farmstead has deep roots in agriculture, with Dave’s father, Martin, expanding it into a thriving grain and livestock operation. In the 1940s, the family began milking cows in a hay barn, leading to the construction of a state-of-the-art dairy barn in 1951. This barn housed a Holstein herd of 30-45 cows until 1963, after which it transitioned to storage. In 2011, the vision of transforming the historic dairy barn into a cozy bed and breakfast came to life. Much of the Inn's design was creatively sketched on dinner napkins during family meals, showcasing the personal touch that went into its creation. Local contractors, many of whom are longtime friends, played a vital role in bringing this project to fruition. Guests can enjoy a nostalgic experience as they explore various artifacts from the dairy's operational days, transporting them back to the 1950s and 60s. In addition to the bed and breakfast, the Country RV Park opened its doors in 201

Sedgwick County, Kansas, is a unique destination steeped in history, originally serving as a campground for the Osage and Wichita Indian tribes. This area is believed to have been explored by notable figures such as Francisco Coronado and Kit Carson, adding to its rich historical tapestry. The first European settler, M. DuTissenet, a Frenchman under the direction of the Louisiana governor, arrived in 1719, bringing soldiers, traders, and hunters who transformed the region from vast prairie into a thriving land of opportunity. Officially established on February 26, 1867, Sedgwick County is named after Major General John Sedgwick, a Civil War hero who lost his life at the Battle of Spottsylvania Courthouse in Virginia. Following an initial unsuccessful attempt to form a county government, the Kansas governor appointed three commissioners to facilitate the process. By April 1870, the first county officials were elected, and Wichita was designated as the county seat. Today, Sedgwick County offers a blend of historical significance and modern amenities. Visitors can explore nearby natural features, enjoy outdoor activities, and discover local restaurants and shops, making it an ideal destination for those seeking adventure and cultural enrichment.
