When we bought this property in 2013, it was a little run down. Many years ago, it housed sheep and cows. We revamped our little 15-acre farm and continue to improve its looks. Now it is our home and houses my riding stable. Many people have commented on how nice it is. I thought this would be a great opportunity to share its beauty and the animals with others. Learn more about this land: We have 3 spots to pitch a tent, but we're pretty flexible. If you see another area, please ask!. Site "Woods" is most secluded. We now have a cabin!! Our "Chalet". It will sleep 4 and has some great amenities. The others are around our grassy barnyard area where you're able to enjoy all of our different animals!. All sites are 2-5 mins from the main house. You will be staying on our horse farm. We have many chickens, bunnies, a potbelly pig, feeder pigs (depending on the time of year), and our 4 house dogs. We offer overnight equine amenities as well. There are 2 showering options and restroom available. You can enjoy a small fire (weather dependent) or listen to the crickets and frogs under the starry night. Actually, you can do it all. We offer trail rides on the horses as well, (extra charges). You can even book a trip to the state park to ride the horse trails, which is only 15 minutes away. There is a great fishing lake less than 1 mile from the farm, so bring your poles and kayaks. Or rent ours! There is a Dollar General, 2 gas stations, and a liquor store in our tiny little town if you forget anything. Walmart is 12 minutes North of us.

Our goal is to share our property with families who have children that love to ride. A quick story: When I was a kid, one of my dad’s best friends’ parents let us use about 20 acres of their farm and woods, where we set up a little campground. We had a small camper, tents, a fire pit, and a track out in the woods where we rode dirt bikes, four-wheelers, and side-by-sides. The best part was that we could keep our belongings and machines there during the week, so when the weekend came, all we had to do was show up and make memories with family and friends. To this day, we still talk about those times. With that in mind, we want to rent this cabin out to families so they can experience the same thing. We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for you to simply show up and focus on creating memories. We hope that keeping things simple will allow for more time riding and enjoying the woods. I become owner of this property in 2017. The cabins were built in the late 90's financed by the previous owner. The property was vacant for decades prior to that. In the 1950's, the property was a drive-in motel called the 'Harbert Motel'. We have an arial photo from this time period which showed a number of small bungalows for guests, each with its own carport. I love all the stories I hear from locals who have been around long enough to remember how things 'used to be'. Southwest Michigan has an interesting history and has been a 'destination' from city dwellers for close to 100 years. Even Al Capone and his goon's frequented the area as they moved illegal good during the days of prohibition. Camp David was a fantastic getaway. To start, the site is easy to find and accessible by stand 2WD vehicles. The spot feels private. You're in your own little world with a ton of space for the dogs to play. There's swings and benches all over the place for enjoyment. David is insanely helpful and kind. He stopped by to check in to ensure we understand the generator and composting toilet. His dog is really cute too. Ultimately, we had a fantastic lazy weekend. The dogs played their hearts out and napped in the sun on the deck. We read our books and carved pumpkins. The firepit corner is quaint and the firewood was good.

I love the privacy and the peacefulness of camp David. The fire pit was perfect, and had plenty of wood. Was able to make a nice meal over the fire using the nice grate, and plenty of room to prep. Sitting on the patio listening to the rain reading was the like a dream. The dogs loved being able to swim in the river, and had plenty of room to run! The simplicity of the cabin is nice for a reset, no WiFi, barely any service, but has everything you could need and then some. Can’t wait to come back!!

We had a nice relaxing few days at camp David. The generator will run electricity for a small satellite tv, which was nice when it rained one evening, and it will power a coffee pot that is available at the location for your use. It got down into the 40s at night, but the propane wall heater kept us toasty all night! We tried some fishing, but the water level was very low, only a few feet all the way across....still had a great time playing with our dogs in the river and relaxing in the sun by the water. Camp chairs and Adirondack are provided, as well as multiple comfortable swings! We cooked dinner on the grate that swings over the fire, and drank our coffee on the beautiful porch overlooking the river. We would definitely come back!

Stayed here with some friends and their two dogs, us our two as well. It was a one night stay and it was a gloomy, rainy weekend. But still so peaceful and enjoyable. Plenty of space to tent camp near the river and space for dogs to roam safely. We really enjoyed this space and David’s hospitality is unmatched.
