We recently moved from the next county over and are enjoying making this place ours and improvements for guests. Property is 15 minutes south of Cincinnati, close to the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG), close to restaurants and attractions such as Kings Island (approximately 1 hour), Creation Museum (approximately 25 minutes) and The Ark (approximately 25 minutes). Also nearby are several state parks and local favorites such as Big Bone State park, Rabbit Hash,and Riverbend. We have 2 dogs who walk with us on leash and recently added chickens and goats! Elmer and Clyde do like to wander and explore. They are very friendly. Learn more about this land: Gravel driveway leads up to both spots. We do try to keep it maintained, but frequently rain causes ruts faster than we can fill. It should not impede drivability, but use caution and feel free to ask if you have any concerns. #1 improvement planned is paving driveway. You may also experience some vehicle noise from roadway. Typically, as we are on a back road, it is fairly quiet but some drivers may be louder than others and some evenings see more traffic. Level gravel area for RV parking, second plateau available for multiple tent sites. Campfires in designated area. Deer, wild turkeys, opossums and raccoons are plentiful and often wander through. Less common are foxes and bald eagles that make their home at Doe Run Lake nearby. Main home on property but only close enough for assistance, not interference. We mow trails for hiking feel free to explore, if you run into a cornfield it's not our property. We have an outhouse for tent campers And water is available by campsite 1 and we have portable idc tote with city water. We also have 3 indoor/outdoor cats, they like to visit the campground. I have two properties which offer two different kinds of camping, which I have tried to itemize separately in the Hipcamp listings. The pictures were hard to sort out.RV's and Campers will park on the upper level at the Panama Street address which has water and electricity. You cannot actually see the Ohio River from the parking lot, but it is a short walk. Any pictures of water were taken from the tent camping site. If you are in a large vehicle, but are looking to spend a lot of time by the river,, you can hope that the site is available for use, which usually it is, (somehow I rarely book both places at once), or you can book both sites. Tent campers set up their tents right beside the river. There is a very simple house with a bathroom, cold running water, electricity, and also provides shelter in bad weather. It's an unusual set up, as perhaps Hipcamper spots often are. On one hand I feel like I am in the middle of nowhere when I am on these (small, very not fancy) properties by the river. On the other, there are planes, trains, barges and pleasure boats, and motorcycles passing by at times. California is just a few minutes off I-275 from the Kellogg exit, and a 15 minute drive from Cincinnati. It is the eastern-most neighborhood with a quaint village feel. Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California offers several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbed Music Center, in season, is a mile away, walking distance, as is Belterra, the race track/casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the "Wild and Scenic" Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. A park with large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee to throw, your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes just to cruise around and take in the scenery. The Little Miami River flows past Armleder Park a few miles away, which has a gravel river beach, a dog park, walking and biking trails and connects to the 5 mile loop around Lunken Airport. There is a lot to do in Cincinnati.

Two picnic tables are included, 1 plastic serving table and 6 chairs to sit in. One campfire ring (please do not burn trash/cig butts in rings) with grate to cook on. Firewood $6 per bundle paypable on Ven mo. Do not cut any of my trees down or go foraging - backside of pond is a wetland and private & protected property. Several docks around the pond to fish from - use at your own risk. There are no dedicated "walking trails," but you can walk around the backside of the one pond (we keep it mowed) and wander down the long lane. No official "cooking area" - bring a grill, cooking stove or cook over the fire. Please do not cook under any roof, near cabin or on plastic table. Please pack all your trash out. We don't have trash pick up here. All dog/animals feces can be flung in the field/tall grass! Lots of big catfish, bass & bluegill - see our F B page for videos of the fish being fed! If you're done fishing for the night or don't fish, bags of fish food are available for $1! It's fun to watch them! All food is stored in containers in shack. They like to eat in the morning or early evening. Also like hot dogs. You understand that swimming, camping, hiking and fishing is at your own risk and that special risks may be involved with swimming, camping, hiking and fishing. You accept full responsibility for any bodily injury arising from swimming, camping, hiking and fishing and hold owner harmless. You understand there are potential dangers that from swimming, camping, hiking and fishing may present to children who are not carefully supervised, as well as the danger to any person swimming, camping, hiking or fishing if a person has health risks, or if a person swims, camps, hikes or fishes while intoxicated or using any kind of drugs or medication, or while pregnant. You agree to be fully and solely responsible for any accidents you may incur. You understand the risks discussed above and agree that you will assume all responsibility for yourself and for the consequences of those in your party. You agree to waive any claim whatsoever against owner for accidents or claims arising from swimming, camping, hiking or fishing. All Hipcamp Guests in my party acknowledge and agree that they have read and understand this waiver and they acknowledge that confirming below constitutes a binding and enforceable contract between Hipcamp Guests and Hipcamp Host.

Teri and Mike have done a fantastic job here! Things are even better than expected from the online description and the welcome kit was a pleasant surprise. The sites are well laid out with plenty of privacy. Great star gazing here, and I saw deer several times. This was my first time camping here, but I hope to be back again next season.

7 nights at A Notch Above-RV Riverside Campsite

This was such a peaceful spot — I had the whole place to myself! Communication with the host was quick and easy, and they were very helpful. I’d definitely recommend arriving during the day, as the driveway can be a little tricky to spot at night and it’s fairly steep. Once settled in, we had a wonderful time by the river and enjoyed the gorgeous fall colors. Highly recommend!

The site was quiet and conveniently located near many things to explore. We biked the Whitewater Canal Trail, hiked the trails at Shrader-Weaver Woods, and visited Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary. We also enjoyed an afternoon in Centerville, Indiana, exploring the 5 arches, browsing antiques, and grabbing food at the local restaurants.

Georgous place! Perfect place to relax and unwind. We stayed here in October and enjoyed the fall colors on the Ohio River which were beautiful. The sites are perfect for boat and barge watching. Randy is super. He was attentive to all our needs. This is my new favorite campground. We will be back.

The barn/bar is adorable and Richard was very friendly and helpful. Camping down the Ridgeline and along the dirt road seemed like it would not be my cup of tea, but in fact, it was very private and very spread apart. I would definitely camp there again! We enjoyed music both evenings and the food at the barn was delicious. I would love if they had a few more choices on the menu.
