With Amish farms and families all around. The Mirror Lake Bunkhouse has all amenities. Although we are located in the middle of the country. You can wake up to beautiful sunrises or take in breath taking sunset in the evening. The lake is a private lake owned by three property owners. Our Cabin # 2 “Old Phil” Is located on the west side of the lake in a 15 acre woods. About 1-1/2 miles away is Our cabin # 1 “Little Elk” Is located near the little Elkhart River. Nestled in its own 10 acre woods. Both of these properties are primitive ( no running water in an out house for a bathroom). Firewood is provided and there are trails in the woods to walk. The Mirror lake property has been a family farm for over 185 years. There is a family cemetery that dates to 1832. If you want to be around a lot of people in the fast track this is not the place for you. If you’re looking for peace, quiet, tranquil, social distance but still enjoyed this is the place for you!

The cabin was perfect and better than we remember when we stayed last year! Titus was kind enough to start the fire for us since we were arriving late. Very comfortable stay for us and our cats. You get an incredible view of the stars when it’s a clear night and the sound of the water trickling in the pond was soothing.

Weekend Trip to Backwoods River Camp WFBranch StJoe
If I could give this 10 stars, I would. Peaceful serenity at its finest.
I'm a seasoned, rustic camper & decided on a spontaneous, last minute weekend away & came across Way Way Back & their Bell Tent. Knowing it was going to be a beautiful day Saturday, but rain Saturday night & Sunday, I didn't want to waste the weekend. But not having to take down a wet tent & pack wet gear, that sounded wonderful. Wonderful is exactly what it was.
I got there later than expected Friday night & it was pitch dark. Jeremy was in contact with me during my drive down & told me to message him when I was close so he could lead me to the tent. Unfortunately I didn't have cell signal as soon as I was about 1.5 mile away, but I stopped at the house & he led the way. Was I ever happy that he did, daylight wouldn't have been difficult. I was delighted to discover that I was the 1st guest of the Bell Tent & was it ever cozy. I lit a fire, got situated, then slept luke a baby. When I woke the next morning to a breathtaking view of the fields & woodsnext to me, I was very excited. My dogs lived it too, 15 yr old Maggie decided to wander into the woods to discover a nlce little river, he favorite. To my surprise she was sharing a drink with beautiful doe only 5 ft from her. Only wish ai had my camera to catch that special moment. Zowie and I walked up about 10 ft away & just watched for a few moments before she wandered off.
I can't wait to go back!!

We loved Kathy's place, the small cabin is surrounded by trees. The lake is close and had a very nice view, there are trails for hiking. Our stay was quiet and relaxed and that was exactly what we were looking for. Thank you.

Amazing spot and atmosphere. Host was awesome and I felt welcomed. Drove almost 4 hours to reach the location and it was 100% worth the ride. They have an amazing set up. The cabin had everything you needed to spend a comfortable evening.

We had an amazing time camping at Sheepy Acres! The property is very well cared for with great attention to detail. Directions were great & the place was easy to find. Outstanding star gazing, plenty of firewood, clean & private camping area. Our dogs had an even better time being able to run free. We can't wait to come back, and bring our family too!

What stood out most was how well the land is cared for, including the huts for sleeping. The property is absolutely stunning, and very private. Seeing all the monarch butterflies, as well as hearing the rooster in the morning was a nice little treat. Best of all, was having the dogs off leash. Our entire gang had the best time!

We stayed in the cabin and it was well supplied and they really thought of everything. It was a nice break from our normal tent camping. They even had hand washing stations and the shower was nice after a long weekend of hiking. The kids loved the pond and wanted to stay there most the time. This is a cozy little log cabin next to the sweetest little pond you’ve ever seen! Titus was great at communicating online as well as in person. He made notes and signs that helped take the guesswork out of many things. It was super helpful. I love that firewood was provided and cut into manageable pieces. This place was very peaceful and just what I needed!

Great experience. Sleep in the goat pen. Walk the property, or go for a swim. What a unique property. Highly recommend.
The huts were comfortable. Mattress in the loft, but bring your own bedding. Ladder up is a little steep for those with bad knees. Generally fine though. Seems like the huts would keep warm late into the season.

I loved it all! Absolutely beautiful location! We all had such a great time relaxing, fishing, adventuring down the trail, sitting by the campfire, and just being able to enjoying the peace and tranquility of country living.
The hosts were friendly, informative, and accommodating, as well respectful. The cabin offered just about anything you could think of that you'd need for a comfortable stay. They had little notes of instructions written all around the property to help point you in the right direction or to show you how different things work around the camp site. My dog was in complete heaven basking in the sun and swimming in the pond just to be free to roam as she may. We are definitely planning on returning to enjoy the cabin and the pond some time again real soon. We also plan on making a weekend reservation to stay in one of the shepherds huts before the season ends!

My Husband and I had a quick getaway to celebrate his birthday away from the kiddos. Honestly we loved it! Titus really pays attention to all details! So peaceful! Titus was a kind and welcoming host who bent over backwards to make sure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I enjoyed our chats on a variety of topics. The cabin is cozy, with more amenities than expected (like a mini-fridge and toilet...I'm used to more primitive camping). Just sitting on the porch listening to the birds, trickle of the small pond, and occasional clip-clop of the occasional neighbor's horse and buggy, was so relaxing, Visited by a friendly cat, and the sheep are adorable. Would stay again.

This place was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was so relaxing, and I immediately felt safe and welcomed. Everything was clean, and the host went above and beyond to make the stay accommodating. The nighttime views were breathtaking—something photos can’t truly capture.
There was plenty of firewood provided from the start, and I had such a great time enjoying the peaceful surroundings, especially with the sheep and kittens nearby adding to the charm. The other campsites are spaced far enough away that you still feel completely secluded and private.
Overall, it was an unforgettable experience, and I can’t recommend it highly enough!.

This was truly the most amazing place! The Moonlight Hut was clean and felt so safe and serene. We loved watching the sheep in the mornings while eating breakfast and even made a little cat friend! We will definitely be coming back again!
