The property was originally owned by a family name Nichols (thus the name of the lake). It was handed down to the sons who each owned half the property. The driveway down the middle of property that leads to the lake was originally a fence line that divided the two pieces of property. The brothers did not get along and their are several stories of their warring on how to maintain the property.My parents bought this piece of property in 1964 and created a camp called "Lakeside Farm Camp", a small all boys camp. The camp has gone through several changes since then but has always been owned by the Edwards family. In 1984 the name was changed to "Cedar Lodge" a coed camp that specializes in English horseback riding and offering high level general camp activities. Enjoy the peace and quiet of our totally private fresh water lake. Take your boat out for a day of fishing or just chill next to the fire. Sites are approximately 50 feet from each other. If you want privacy we suggest you book both.

I become owner of this property in 2017. The cabins were built in the late 90's financed by the previous owner. The property was vacant for decades prior to that. In the 1950's, the property was a drive-in motel called the 'Harbert Motel'. We have an arial photo from this time period which showed a number of small bungalows for guests, each with its own carport. I love all the stories I hear from locals who have been around long enough to remember how things 'used to be'.
Southwest Michigan has an interesting history and has been a 'destination' from city dwellers for close to 100 years. Even Al Capone and his goon's frequented the area as they moved illegal good during the days of prohibition.

What a blessing to have found this spot on my epic road trip! From the moment I made my reservation, the communication was excellent and responsive. Even though I arrived late in the evening, my hosts came out to greet me personally and made sure I had absolutely everything I needed for a comfortable night’s rest.
Their genuine warmth and care went above and beyond typical hosting - they truly created a safe, welcoming space for a solo traveler like myself. The morning brought an extra delightful surprise when they checked in on me and I got to meet the adorable newborn goats!
This is exactly the kind of authentic connection that makes Hipcamp experiences so special. Great spot. We were the only cabin, so lots of privacy and the bathroom to ourselves. We rented a canoe and purchased firewood, they were ready and waiting upon our arrival. Lake was great to canoe around. Trail loop was short and sweet, but a nice walk through the woods. Seeing the horse get let out in the afternoon was really nice.

Such a beautiful place to stay the weekend. Upon arrival i met Debbie and their sweet lab i believe was named Buster who showed me around the whole campground. Later on in the day i met her husband Larry. Both were just so friendly and kind and made sure we had everything we needed. Its a very clean and peaceful campground that sits on a large lake perfect for fishing. One of the nicest camp grounds ive stayed at. We will 100% be back. Excellent experience, remarkable hosts. We parked in a field and walked our gear a short ways to the "wilderness" tent sites -- this was definitely worth it as the sites were very private. The facilities were clean and the property was beautiful. These hosts have a wonderful campground.

This site was exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful, quiet, clean, and great hosts. Even though we stayed during a very busy time for the hosts, Lisa still made time to meet us and fill us in on the big local event going on. We enjoyed the event and loved our stay!

Great campsite! Everything was clean and it was nice to have a bathhouse so close. We had a great time catching fish at the pond. Site 4 was nice and shady for the hot days and the trees provided nice coverage during the rain. We will be back.

Very cool little campground. You can tell they have put some work into making a beautiful space. There is a pond in the center with lots of ducks, geese, cranes, etc. they also have a shower house with flush toilets, shower, sink for dishes, and trash. They even have some nice walking trails. Sites were pretty private and even if the place was full you would still have more privacy than most state parks. There is definitely some highway noise since they are so close to 30 but if you don’t mind that I would definitely recommend staying here!

I had a great experience at Earl and Lisa’s camp! They were very quickly communicative and Lisa waited to show me to my campsite, despite me booking late at night. The camping areas were very well maintained and the bathroom was equally clean! The trails through the wooded areas were perfect to walk off a long drive and run some of my dogs energy off. Also, if you’re someone who enjoys stargazing, this is a great place for it!

Weekend Trip to Camp Easy
We absolutely loved this place! We got there later in the evening and the solar lights around the lavu were already lit up making it a beautiful sight to see at first glance. It was very private and we didn't see anyone the whole visit which was nice. However the neighbor across the lake and his turkey call at 8am was not what we wanted to wake up to. Aside from that it was completely perfect and we highly recommend!

I’ve camped out here twice while working in the area, but will undoubtedly make this beautiful place a destination in itself in the future. Completely peaceful, nothing but nature sounds at night. The hosts are the nicest people you’ve ever met…I enjoyed great conversations both visits, and Debbie even made a point of taking a trip from their house down to the campsite to share some freshly picked tomatoes. This place is really something special. I can’t wait to go back.

We had a wonderful experience. Both Lisa and Earl were friendly, responsive, and accommodating. The bathroom/shower house was clean and stocked. The outdoor sink was helpful for washing hands and doing dishes. We stayed at site #6, which offered just enough privacy. The grounds were well maintained, and we loved seeing all of the bumblebees and hummingbirds.
They even offered some initial complementary firewood and fire pits have grates so that you can cook on them.
We are hoping to return soon before the season ends, otherwise we definitely plan to be back next year! Thank you, Earl and Lisa, for such great hospitality, and making our camping trip so comfortable!
