Weekend Trip to Happy Campers Campground

I was looking for a location close to Terre Haute where we could decompress after an outdoor workshop with my dog that ran a full weekend. I had previously stayed in the local hotels, but wanted something with space, quiet, and most of the standard comforts. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked into the cabin on the first night that there was a/c. I must have not read carefully because I was ready for a humid evening, but the a/c was on and the cabin felt great! The fridge was big enough for my meals, the microwave was full size and heated up morning coffee in a jiffy. Everything was clean and organized. Bed was comfy, but honestly I’m not too picky — especially after working outdoors for 10 hours. I also don’t mind an outhouse, even when it rained for a brief period. The short distance had a nice big tree that provided cover most of the way. The owner met me as we were unpacking and went over the form. And we had a quick chat about my weekend, and he made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Willenborg Woods

We had such a perfect weekend at Becca's place. The spot is quiet, scenic, secluded, and quaint. While it's only about 500 feet from where you park, the A-frame structure still feels very private where it's nestled into the woods. There are miles and miles of trails to explore (we got a bit lost and stumbled upon a very beautiful creek one afternoon) and Becca and Craig are gracious hosts, offering warm conversation and suggestions if you need them. The chickens are friendly, the view from the site is very pretty. The camp shower, while shabby, is hot and refreshing. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to duck out of the city and under the stars.

Dwight and Happy Camper is friendly and hospitable. The cabin a clean, quant and quiet getaway with tons of charm. We have been to the cabin a few times and enjoy fishing in the pond and fire pit. Where to start with this review?? The directions to get there were easy to navigate, and communication with Dwight was super easy. The location was absolutely beautiful, and serene. The cabin was super comfortable. The site had many amenities that our children loved. The adults favorite was the firepit, the kids loved the access to the boat and the rocking chairs on the porch. Watching the ducks and rooster and making up stories of their antics was a close 2nd. We were only there for a couple of days but we are excited to come back next year.

everything from our weekend trip was a 11/10. Rebecca and Craig were the best hosts! it was the a great off the grid weekend surrounded by the most beautiful landscape and easy to navigate hiking trails. felt like being in the middle of no where without being in the middle of no where. we cooked all our meals by the fire and were giving coffee, pastry, and eggs saturday morning :) we’re already plotting when we can come back!!

Our entire weekend was made better not only because of the gorgeous and expansive property but also because of the incredibly helpful and friendly hosts! The trail system here is upkept very well and is easy to navigate with minimal effort. The property has a little bit of everything (creeks, hills, forest, etc.) and a weekend wasn’t nearly enough to see it all. Waking up to hot coffee and fresh eggs outside the cabin was an unexpected delight! We came for a calm, peaceful weekend and that is what we got. We will be coming back one day and you should too!

Weekend Trip to Willenborg Woods

This place is amazing! I have zero complaints! We had everything we needed and more, all in the middle of secluded woods. We stayed in the teardrop trailer and loved the comfort of kitchen, fridge, shower, bathroom, AC, etc. the beds were comfy and so many included supplies. Farm fresh eggs, bread, and coffee were delivered each morning. The hosts Becca and Craig are incredible people who really care about you and your experience. They were so responsive, kind and helpful. They delivered xtra firewood and even gave us a ride down to the river and to see the riverfront A frame rental, which I definitely want to rent next time. The grounds were well kept, with bathrooms available and an outdoor shower for those not staying in the teardrop trailer to still have a bathroom and shower. Subtle touches like flowers planted, picnic tables, stacked rocks, tiki torches, and more made it feel xtra special and inviting. We loved the chickens roaming the property and coming to visit. Becca the host is a rockstar! Such an amazing person with so much life experience, humble, minimalist, accepting and full of positive energy. I can’t wait to come back!

We had the best time camping at this hidden little gem! My sons are bmx riders who have taken up mountain biking. The location had tons of trails for us to explore. The host was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The camper was the perfect size for us and included everything we needed like linens, dishes, fridge, gas stove, sink, toilet, AC, two beds, television. Would definitely book it again in the future. Thank you Rebecca for the great weekend!

I absolutely loved camping on Dwight’s land. Dwight and his wife are absolutely amazing people. They were very helpful with everything his wife even offered us life jackets and floaties so that we could go swimming in the pond and on a very hot day it was very helpful. I honestly would live there if I could haha. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dwight and Happy Campers as a place for a peaceful getaway,and I definitely will be back very soon

my family & i loved Dwight's place! we booked the day of & were greeted when we arrived to the cabin on the property. cabin was very clean & oh so cozy w. a beautiful view of the pond on site. my son did some pretty good fishing, room to walk the dog around & probably the cleanest outhouse i've been in to date! thanks so much for having us.. can't wait to come back!
