Park your RV, overland rig, pitch a tent, or sleep under the stars next to the Coeur D’ Alene River.
Be advised this is directly next to State Highway 3. If you are a light sleeper, or road noise bothers you, this is not the campsite for you.
At the camp, you can launch your kayaks at the river to go for an adventure down through the Chain Lakes, all eight are accessible by the river adjacent to where you will sleep.
The bird and wildlife watching in this area is world class. Ospreys, hawks, turkeys and other animals commonly hang out in these parts.
You can go for a swim at one of the sandbars, take your dirt bikes or side by sides down Killarney Lake Road to access an extensive network of trails and dirt roads into remote wilderness.
There is no cell service, no water or electrical hookups, or toilet. As beautiful as it is, your experience will not be “glamping” unless you come with all the comforts you personally desire.
You can hunt on the forest service land by 4th of July Pass, fish on the river, or on the Chain Lakes (with the proper permits, of course).
There is a access into the water from camp but it is quite steep. For easy access to the water, use the docks or boat launch at Killarney Lake or Bull Run.
Pets and kids are allowed at your own risk. Be advised the highway and river are hazardous for off-leash animals and rambunctious toddlers.

As noted, there is a lot to do in this area, most notability, the wonderful Lake Coeur d'Alene. The search is over! This is the ideal spot!
Ron and Vicki were so kind, helpful and easy to communicate with.
They met us as we arrived and even shared some of their homegrown garlic with us!
This was our first experience using Hip Camp and I can’t imagine it getting any better than this.
The location was easy access to Farragut State Park, Sandpoint, Coeur d’Alene and other smaller towns in the area.
The campsite was spotless and extremely quiet and peaceful.
There was even a porta potty nearby with a hand wash station.
If you are in the area, I highly recommend booking your stay here and even adding on a couple days just to enjoy the peace of the campsite. Thank you again Ron and Vicki for providing such an amazing place!

We arrived on a Friday afternoon and were greeted by Mary the owner who is very friendly and helpful. She jumped on her ATV and lead us to our camp spot. The views are breathtaking! The property has a beautiful trail at the edge of the property that goes over a creek and cows crazing in the field right next to it. It was fun to look at all the farm animals which included horses, chickens, goats and very friendly dogs. There is no internet near the camp spots. On Sunday morning, Rob the owner came over to chat with the two other campers that were there. He invited a mom and her young son to take a ride in the side by side to help him move the cows to a different field which I’m sure was so much fun for all. We camp a lot and this is one of the best camping experiences we have had and can’t wait to go back!

Our experience at The Mad Moose Ranch was nothing short of wonderful. Loved the location, very quiet and spacious. My husband, 2 kids and I took the pop-up camper for a trip to silverwood and we will definitely go back. Ron and Vicki are so kind & helpful. Thank you for allowing us to use your space <3

Great spot! Isolated and close to water. Water is fine to swim in as I think most bodies of water in this area have the same warnings just maybe not as concentrated? Idk, my husband and I didn’t grow any extra limbs or anything crazy! Plan to come back again soon :)
