As luck would have it Lucky Peak Lake is a hell of a good time in and out of the water for naturalists, adventurers, and those who consider themselves “professional relaxers”. Take to your boat for a day of water skiing or fishing. You’ll be surrounded by lush green foothills, and there’s plenty of trails for hikers, bikers and pony riders to explore these areas. Off-roading is cool too if you want to pick up the pace. Fishing is, well, pretty epic with both the lake and Boise River at your beck and call. Picnic shelters and group camping means you can bring along the whole gang, and with such close proximity to happening Boise, you can spend an evenings out on the town before a sleeping bag adventure under the stars in one of Lucky Peak’s campgrounds. You could say Boise National Forest is in the tri-forest area. It is surrounded on all sides by Payette, Salmon-Challis, and Sawtooth National Forests, it is situated conveniently close to both urban fun in Boise, and limitless wilderness adventures everywhere else. Alpine tundra is dotted with evergreen forest in the green rolling hills here, topped with snow, and anchored by sparkling valley waterways. The Payette River is great for rafting, while Banks Beach and Beehive Bend are just some of the prime access points on the forest’s 250 lakes and reservoirs (Arrowrock Reservoir has surprisingly primo salmon fishing for central Idaho). Hikers will find 500 trails, including some that lead to 360-panoramic views at fire lookouts. The ambitious should try 10,000-foot high Trinity Mountain, while more liesurely trekkers will get just as good a view at Silver Creek. As if that’s not all enough to keep you busy, there are also endless mountain biking trails, including a scenic route along Shafer Butte. You’ll have your hands full at this intersection of so many great parks!

This has been one of my favorite hipcamps! Ron and his wife are so nice and have everything you could possibly need. Drinkable water, fire wood, electricity, bathroom, horses, italian plums and beautiful scenery! Would definitely stay here again.

Ron was the best host ever! His communication was excellent and he was very responsive to all our requests. The spot we stayed was very quiet and beautiful. Plenty of room for our 30 trailer. We enjoyed sitting out in the evening watching the sun fall over the fields.

We were fortunate to be able to stay in the guest RV as well as the tent site during our stay in Idaho. The property is awesome. If you enjoy a quiet laid back farm atmosphere. This is the perfect place. Ollie and Ripley ( the resident dogs) supply any doggie fix you may be craving. Ron and Lisa were wonderful hosts. We look forward to staying there again .

Weekend Trip to Mini Acres Farm

The stay at Ron's Mini Acres Farm was just as advertised; quiet, peaceful, shaded, with chickens, quail, horses and even some hawks flying overhead. It was easy to find, and easy to set up. Ron met us shortly after we arrived and ensured we could find the "outhouse" - a clean and modern facility. We had a much needed break from our hectic schedules.

Two comfy twin beds with mattresses and linens along with access to electricity and WiFi make an evening in our Sweet Pepper Ranch Glamping Tent relaxing and convenient.

Parking is in a dirt backyard next to a cornfield, which I thought was neat. It looks like they were in the process of planting new trees to add shade. There is a large common grass area with a fire pit that can be shared with other campers. They have a bathroom in a shed. That may sound off-putting, but it was very clean, nice, and unique!! Also, without hook-ups, it was convenient to have a bathroom on site. We were in the area to visit friends so we didn't spend a lot of time at the site during the day. It was quiet and peaceful at night. Kimberly made sure to call and check in on us after we arrived. She was super friendly.

Lovely shaded campsite with great views over the farmland with hills behind. Really peaceful and relaxing. Trees provided some good bird life. All amenities provided and fresh eggs brought to us. Great stopover on our way to Oregon. Highly recommend.
