SPECIAL NOTE FOR 2026: This Summer we are adding onto our host cabin. There may be construction noise (think compressed air nail gun, occasional equipment noise) during your stay, especially at the tent and RV campsites. 8AM-6PM, except Sunday. It will be less audible at The River Cabin.
Our physical location is approximately 30 miles North of Bonners Ferry and 1 mile South of Eastport, ID. We are a mile South of the Canadian Border just off US 95. Our tent campsite and RV campsite have separate booking sites but share the same shelter and toilet. If you book either site the "other" booking site is blocked during your stay.
Our Forest is surrounded by Kaniksu National Forest which is managed by the United States Forest Service (USFS) as part of the Idaho Panhandle. National Forest.. The Moyie River ( say Moy-yay) has headwaters at Moyie Lake in British Columbia and feeds into the Kootenai River (say Koo-ten-e) just East of Bonners Ferry. The Moyie River is 92 miles long.
The area is private, so there is no view of the neighbors. You’ll have a broken view of the Host’s Cabin. Camp is situated on 15.4 acres of Certified Family Forest. If you hear the rumble of a train at night, it's because the Union Pacific passes along the opposite edge of the property from the campsites.
There is no mobile phone service at the campsite . There is WiFi at the campsite shelter. We strongly suggest you activate the “Cell over WiFi “ function on your smartphone BEFORE you arrive/lose cell signal so you can access Emergency 911 Services.
There is a fire pit (firewood provided), covered shelter, a USFS-style charcoal grill, (bring charcoal and starter), picnic table, benches, bear-proof food storage box and TEMPORARY trash bin. Please plan to "pack-out" all of your trash and recyclables.
There are a lot of deer roaming the property, along with many birds and other wildlife . OUR NIGHTLY CHARGE Includes all the firewood you need and a 15% Hipcamp Host Service Fee. It does not include 6% Idaho Sales Tax and 2% Idaho Convention and Travel Tax.
Be Bear Aware : From April 1 - November 1 all food, beverages and trash must never be left unattended and, all of the same, be stored properly. Our Bear Box is large and can accommodate your supplies and cooler.

We are located down a dead-end road, approximately 18 miles from downtown Sandpoint, with all it has to offer, yummy restaurants, Cedar Street Public Market, music concerts, the Bonner County Fair and don't miss City Beach no matter the weather, maybe even take a lake tour. We are 12 miles from The Idaho Club and just 22 miles from Schweitzer and some of the most breathtaking views around. There is always something to do and see on the mountain. Trestle Creek Park on the shore of Lake Pend Oreille, is another of our favorite places and it's only a 16-mile drive through some of the most picturesque areas of the NW. After a fun filled day exploring North Idaho come and relax at The Lost Fainting Goat Ranch, an amusing name for a place we call home. There is a separate private driveway, and you will have the whole camp area to yourselves, yet we aren't far away should a need arise. You may occasionally hear us (4 busy kids, 1 fat cat, 2 friendly dogs, 1 noisy rooster and 11 happy hens yet still no fainting goats) but we want you to feel like you are in your own private sanctuary. We are offering a new furnished bell tent in a secluded area of our private property in the beautiful mountains of Sandpoint Idaho. Our camp area is along a quiet creek that is visited by deer, wild turkey, squirls and even the occasional moose. There are also those less desirable critters that live in nature like insects, and we do try and mitigate those troublemakers with screens, traps, Diatomaceous Earth and other natural means. This area of our property is off grid with a wonderful shower house built from wood milled from our own land, complete with hot water and a compost toilet. We even provide Starlink WiFi and a way to charge cell phones thanks to our solar charged batteries. There is a fire pit, comfy chairs, a beautiful picnic table, again, made from wood from our own land, and a screened in area with cooking supplies. Our family enjoys hosting guests and we enjoy meeting new people. The most common phrase we heard when we first moved here was "Welcome to Idaho!" We hope you love it here as much as we do. When you reserve your time with us, please look for messages regarding directions and check-in instructions, we like to meet everyone to show you around and it gets pretty dark out here in the country and the cell coverage is pretty spotty in our area. The lands include a number of geographic features including the Kettle River, upper reach of the Columbia River and the Selkirk mountain range, which is considered to be at the foothills of the Rockies.

Our winter visit to the Far North was excellent. The cabin was a perfect place to spend time together. We loved the selection of books available to visitors during our stay. It was great to have kitchen equipment and to use it easily. The fireplace kept us nice and cozy on snowy, cold days outside. The Views are stunning, with no one around but our family. It was ‘dry’ camping because of the late season, but that did not stop us from having quality time together. I love that Paul provides firewood. He was great at communication and make us so welcome at his property.

What a great spot! Paul is a welcoming host that has set up a great site for guests. There is a nice building with a shower, and a separate toilet building. It’s a beautiful, peaceful, nicely maintained property. My dogs were very at home there. I would love to stay there again.

We loved our stay at the farm! The tent was private in the woods and we came up to the farm’s shop for fresh ice cream and fresh eggs and also paid extra to help milk a cow haha our daughter loved the cows! The zipper didn’t work on the tent but otherwise everything was so lovely. We used the cook stove and they had some cook supplies in there too which was super nice. Would definitely recommend , I always wanted to try out glamping and the whole family had a lot of fun with it.

We really enjoyed our time at the Cedar Grove Campsite! The setting was beautiful, peaceful and serene. The river was just yards away from our camper. The bathroom and shower buildings were very clean and well equipped. We were able to explore the property freely and felt comfortable and able to relax. Our dog was able to roam around with us as well. She loved it!
Paul was easy to communicate with annd answered all of our questions ahead of arrival.
Highly recommend the Copper Creek Falls hike. Short and easy, with picturesque falls at the end!

Loved Paul’s little slice of the outdoors. Everything was thought of. Hookups , Bath house and bathroom right near the site. Lots of privacy. My boys loved fishing and exploring across the river, and Copper falls was a good hour excursion right around the corner.
Only thing I accidentally over looked was this place is by the railroad. My toddler wasn’t such a super fan of that in the middle of the night , so if you’re tenting it just be aware it comes a couple times at night. Mosquitos are vicious - pack allllll the candles, spray and torches- day and night. We will be back next year, this place is so tranquil and leaves so much to be appreciated .

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chris and Michal’s campsite! They have loaded it with everything you could need, plus a ton of extras, to make for the best camping experience. The location was perfect and just what we were looking for- close enough to town and the lake, but far enough to see the starts at night and listen to nature. 10/10 experience and I hope we can visit again!

Great spot with river access, shade and so many amenities, it felt almost like glamping! Very thoughtfully outfitted. You can hear traffic and the train (road and tracks are quite near), but we quickly got used to that. Our three dogs had a wonderful time exploring and fishing for rocks in the river. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again - they may have spoiled us for other more ‘rustic’ spots in the future!

Wow, what a beautiful property and incredible accommodations! This was easily the nicest Hipcamp I’ve ever stayed in. The shower, bathroom, and dining areas were immaculate, and the grounds by the river were gorgeous. We only stayed one night but would have happily spent the weekend if we’d been able to. Highly recommend!

The fire pit / covered picnic table / bench swing area provided a beautiful view of the river and surrounding mountains. The area of the camp itself is beautiful. Truly a feast for the eyes. Right on the river. The accommodations at the camp are the nicest I’ve seen with HipCamp. We tented it. The open kitchen area is excellent, the lav was above ordinary, the shower even more so. The owner has put in some work. Nice work! Took a peek at the cabin area. If we come back for a hideaway, that would be our goal.

Paul has an amazing get away in the perfect location. It's right off the highway, so it has easy access. It is incredibly secluded and shows incredible thought into every aspect. The cabin is thoughtfully equipped with all the things that makes for a relaxing stay. He is fantastic with communication, too. Thanks for a great stay!

This is a beautiful private campsite. We loved the views and sound of the rushing river. The hot shower was a bonus. (If camping here be prepared for mosquitoes.)

We absolutely loved this place. It was much nicer than we expected. The scenery was amazing. The set up and the new showers were really nice. We visited it while there was no one else there and all of the campground is separated from the cabin side. you feel really secluded there highly recommend this place and we will definitely go back again. The little store in good grief was nice and the people there were really nice. Some nice hikes are very close by all the communication was great with Paul. Thank you very much for sharing your space.

Beautiful place. Scenery, right on the river was perfect. Everything was taken care of and provided for. I would recommend this for anyone, but bring your bug repellent. The mosquitoes were hungry.
