Wahi Nanea Place of Relaxation

7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents2 acres · Kula, Maui
The property is located on Maui island in the Kula district on the drier side of Haleakala. In days before western contact the area was heavily forested with native plants and trees and rainfall was abundant. The native Hawaiian grew bananas, taro and sweet potato. After Western contact businessmen mostly from the United States developed huge tracts of land for ranching and farming which cleared the native forests and destroyed the eco system from the mountain to the sea. Many of the Hawaiian people moved away nearer to the towns and immigrant Chinese laborers from the ranches and plantations moved in. The Chinese brought in the Wattle tree to plant for firewood as these trees grew very fast. These are the majority of the trees that you see today. As part of the Chinese immigration, the founder of modern China, Sun Yat Sen lived here for a time and planned his revolution to overthrow the last Chinese Dynasty. There is a park dedicated to him nearby. We have picnic tables a propane grill, a fire pit and a covered gazebo that is shared with 3 cabins This site is located at the 2800 ft altitude and the temperature at night can range from mid 50 to mid 60 degrees F. If you are planning to go to Haleakala, we are about 45 -60 minutes to the summit. We are also on the south side approach to Hana. There is a great restaurant for breakfast and lunch about 10 minutes away in Keokea town called Grandma's Coffee house.

Stargazers Jungle Lounge Glampsites

7 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Hana, Maui
A community hostel style setting of young hearted people to host your stay in Hāna, Maui. We are three miles from downtown Hāna and one mile from Waianapanapa State Park. Our ocean view property has a small nature walk through a field of tropical flowers underneath some of the largest banyan trees on the island. OUTDOOR provides two separate lighted tented areas. The BYOB Jungle Bar, and The Jungle Lounge area with seating and internet. You will also find a makeshift kitchen equipped with cooking wares, propane, camp stove, and potable county water (all supplied). We also have a small fire pit when the winds are calm. Bring wood, or you can salvage from the jungle. INDOOR we have "The Clubhouse" which is an additional area to get away from the rain where you will find a living room, dining area and game table with partial ocean view. We also have a newly renovated large bamboo shower with propane hot water, and kitchen stocked with cooking wares, stove, fridge and sink for guest use. CAMPING SPOT INFO: THE ONLY FLAT SPOTS AVAILABLE FOR CAMPER VANS ARE THE BANYAN SITES. We get this question all the time so let me try and clarify here. ALL OTHER PARKING SPOTS ARE ON A HILL AND NOT FLAT. If you can not secure the BANYAN TREE SITES for your camper van, your best option is to book a tent only campsite (where we already have an existing tent set up for you). You will NOT be able to drive to the TENT ONLY sites. You have to park your vehicle in the designated parking area and then walk to and sleep in the tent with your sleeping gear from your van (About 100 feet away from parking area). Included in every reservation at the BAMBOO or OCEAN VIEW / TENT ONLY Sites you will find a 4-6 Man Sleep Tent, Mattress and 13 Foot Popup Canopy Tent for extra rain protection over the sleep tent. This is already set up and waiting for you! If you need blankets upon HipCamp check out they can be added on for an additional $25. This includes: one large blanket, 2 sheets and 2 pillows, pillowcases, 2 towels and lantern. ONLY TWO PEOPLE PER SITE ARE ALLOWED per reservation. IF YOU HAVE FOUR PEOPLE YOU HAVE TO BOOK TWO CAMP SITES. Please understand that we have limited resources (Space, Kitchen, Bathroom, Shower etc) IF YOU SHOW UP WITH MORE PEOPLE - YOU WILL BE CHARGED $44.00 PER ADDITIONAL PERSON. If you have a child under 8 years old there is no charge but we would still like to be informed that there will be extra people in your party. Please let us know and get permission before you just show up with extra people in your party. We currently request quiet hours at 8pm to be courteous to our neighbors and campers. The sun and moon will rise over the ocean in front. The clubhouse hours are from 5am to 10pm. HANA PREPAREDNESS INFO: The East side of the island is considered the rain forest. It typically rains almost every night and during the day at some point or another. And sometimes very heavy rains. This keeps it lush and green with running waterfalls, but with that, Hana does have mosquitoes too, so plan accordingly. We have a few mosquito nets (first come first use) if you need them for your car/van just ask. Also wild pigs activate the neighborhood dogs at times so bring ear plugs if you are sensitive to noise. Also, stock up on groceries before you come out as choices are very limited in Hana and the town closes down early. The Hāna Highway is one of the most magical roads in the world and we appreciate when you let the locals pass. If you have any requests or concerns, just let us know. We aim to please and look forward to hosting you! And be sure to make a reservation to visit the State Park Waianapanpa Black Sand Beach at their website.

8 Acres of untouched land, enjoy camping in the meadow or forest. This location is in a prime spot and is accessible by any vehicle. You do not need a 4x4 and it is 3 turns and all paved roads from the highway. Enjoy a perfect view of the night sky and the quiet of the jungle. We have running water so you can rinse off after the beach, a bathroom on site, and have tables and grills if you want to do a cookout! You do not need a special camping license and please no fires at this time. Upon booking you will get an automatic message with details of the exact location and entrance instructions (Late night checkin is fine if you are quiet). If you do not receive this please contact Hipcamp and book our site only through Hipcamp. Our location can be challenging to find if you do not follow the directions. Using the exact GPS is not recommended because a nearby road was closed due to a bridge washing out a few years ago. Some campers did not follow the instructions and were unable to find the campsite due to this.

This is a beautiful property which features over 200 fruit trees, and an educational subtropical vegetable garden, perpetuating food security in Hawaii. The acreage gives the feeling of spaciousness, yet we are close to Haiku town and Community Center. CHECK-IN MUST BE BEFORE 8 PM UNLESS YOU CONTACT HOST AND REQUEST OTHER ARRANGEMENTS. NOTE: We may have other campers here, as well farm workers and student interns. YOU MAY BE CAMPING OR PREPARING FOOD WITH OTHER PEOPLE. BECAUSE THE COMMUNITY CAMPFIRE AND KITCHEN AND BATHROOM ARE AWAY FROM THE TENT SITES, YOU CAN KEEP TO YOURSELF IN YOUR TENT AREA AND/OR MEET FRIENDS FROM AROUND THE WORLD WHEN AROUND THE FIRE OR IN THE SHARED OUTDOOR KITCHEN AREA. WE DO OUR BEST TO HOLD A FEELING OF ALOHA HERE, AND HAVE FOUND THAT WHEN OUR GUESTS COME IN GRATITUDE, TOGETHER, WE ALL ENJOY THE BEAUTIFUL VIBRATION OF MAUI! We are loving the special feeling everyone brings to our farm campground and to each other. E KOMO MAI :) We are about 15 minutes from Paia town, Ho'okipa and Baldwin beaches - that's where everyone likes to hang out! We are also about 15 minutes in the opposite direction from Twin Falls - a favorite swim hole and water fall spot! We can offer a clean pit toilet (3-4 minute walk from the furthest campsite area), outdoor shower, and a covered and lighted eating area with the basics for cooking. You bring your tent and essentials - or you may park a vehicle here. No hook-ups. But there is an outlet in the outdoor kitchen area to charge devices and you may use wifi there. Check bulletin board for WiFi code. Haiku is not known for having great cell phone reception/wifi. However, most people can get connected in the community kitchen area. WEEKLY FARM PRODUCTS MAY BE AVAILABLE. PLEASE INQUIRE IF INTERESTED AND/OR CHECK THE BULLETIN BOARD IN THE PICNIC AREA. We specialize in Subtropic greens to add to salads and cooking greens and fresh herbs too. We often have fruit, like citrus, mango, starfruit. The Hippocampus

9 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents10 acres · Hawi, Hawaii
Legend has it, Kohala (the first of the 6 volcanos on the Big Island of Hawaii) is home to King Kamehameha I and this was the home to the Ali'i and the training grounds for their warriors. You can feel it when you walk into the forest and listen deeply and intuitively to your ancestors. It is truly an honor to be on this 'aina (land). Modern history: Up until 1984 this property was all avocado, Kukui and Ironwood land with the Kohala ditch running on the far south end. It wasn't until my current neighbor and sweet friend and her father bought the property and cleared away 160 Ironwoods to create a property that could be farmed and lived on. Then another couple bought the property in early 2000 and built it out with farm houses and gardens. Once they moved back to the mainland, this was home to the local skydive family where the pilots and instructors were housed. Finally, in 2021, Cirque-Girl Sequoia came in with a huge vision of a conscious homesteading community, learning and teaching alongside one another by way of events, projects, concerts, talks and certifications all the while farming and creating even bigger orchards to feed not just her community, but the community of Hawi and beyond. At this time, not only is it "hip" to farm and grow your own food, but it is crucial. Learn more about this land: Everybody comes to Hawaii and thinks of beaches, surf and jungles but why not try a different side of Hawaii? The Ironwood Forests of Hawi are here you’ll find ios (Hawaiian Hawks) and Pueos (Hawaiian owls only found on the Big Island) as the ancestor's whispers run through the massive forest of Ironwood, Kukui Nut and Avocado in an ancient river bed of sugar plantation country. Deep in the heart of Hawaii’s only dormant volcano of Kohala, this was home to the most prestigious Ali’i (Hawaiian Royalty)and the training grounds of warriors. Here our farm sits on 10 acres with over 30 varieties of fruit trees a view of the Big Blue (the ocean). We provide 2 Hipcabins and 4 platforms, hammocks to daydream in, car camping, a center camp that has a kitchen, bathroom and shower plus a magical forest for you to meditate, do massage, practice Reiki, read or just plain have a beautiful discussion in. If you feel inclined to step out of the forest, you are welcome to use our communal eating area THE GROOVY GRINDS CAFE under the mango trees and we would love if you wanted to be a part of any of the events that we host here with our live-on conscious community. Things we do and can offer aerial, yoga and meditation classes, massage (ask hostess prior to trip about booking sessions), drum circles, bonfire nights, fire-dancing, Thursday community potluck dinners, mini-concerts, painting, planting building projects and whatever we get called to do. ....and what's camping without a bonfire? We have two bonfire pits lower on the property that you can join in on if our community already has one going. (NO bonfires in the gulch please.) One of our biggest bragging rights is that we are utilizing the vermaculture toilets which feeds our red wiggler worms, filters through 4 layers of organic matter and turns your toilet waste into nitrogen rich efluent for the plants. (NO TOILET PAPER PROVIDED SO PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN) and the gray water from the shower and kitchen sink go into a plot of banana trees. So our bathroom, shower and cooking facility is completely self-sufficient! We provide a nice two-burner stove and propane. Please shut off when not in use (remember, propane tanks are backwards for on and off!) PLEASE PACK OUT WHAT YOU PACK IN or you may distribute your trash at our garbage facility down below by the main buildings. Funny that I should need to say this but.... PLEASE BRING EARPLUGS and BUG SPRAY as this is the forest and forests too have critters like mosquitos and animals like roosters, dogs and pigs that make noise. PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE AFTER DARK AND PLEASE USE DIRECTIONS AND NOT GOOGLE MAPS! It will take you down a 4x4 road.  And when it’s time to step out of the forest and out of Pueo Ridge, we are a 5-minute drive directly above the main center of town and 15 minutes to the famous Polalu Valley hike that runs deep into the jagged switchbacks of the Northern coast. Our area also headlines in ADVENTURE with skydiving, zip-lining, hiking and forest adventures. Mahalo for reading!
