Enjoy the country life in Kau on the Big Island and the lovely red Lehua flowers blooming. We live on 19 acres on Road to the Sea, which has a remote green sand beach at the end of the road (4 miles down from us). We call our slice of paradise, Honua Laa (a sacred place). Straight down to the coast is a beautiful black and green sand beach and a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there, but you don’t need 4WD to get to our place, but you do need to rent an SUV or truck with high clearance. No sedans. Go slow the road is rough and bumpy in places.. Off the grid. Rustic, but fun. If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot! The silence is golden and the stars are amazing. Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping. It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. We have nice neighbors who keep an eye on things. The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. If you want to drive to the green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water. Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for your ice chest. Bring drinking water. There is a gas grill and propane single burner. Bathroom has manual flush toilet,. This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches. You can charge your phone and have a lamp in your cabin. No wifi. I use ATandT and I understand that Verizon and T-Mobile work here also. The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing! Our glamping cabins are in the front 3 acres. The back 17 acres is an old Ohia forest with 500 year old trees and lots of birds. You might even see a wild goat or a wild pig. There are small caves and gorgeous rock formations. It backs up to Manuka Forest Reserve.

As all the land here is born of lava, many moons ago this land began to host plants and critters. Long after, it was sculpted and a number of families and farmers have contributed to what we have today. An abundance of fruit and vegetables within sight of the ocean. Peaceful breezes and warming sun make for unparalleled tranquility. Today the land still gives back to its visitors. Come recharge. As this is agricultural lands, there are many critters. Dogs, chickens, pheasants, peacock, mongoose, and many birds. Tge invasive coqui frog is annoying to some and calming to others. The micro climate here swings from warm and dry to wet quickly. Best to always prepare for rain. There is snorkeling, beaches, local food, Cafe, BBQ, poke, fish-n-chips, grocery, Sunday farmers market and hiking nearby. It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community. As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle. Staying on the driveway is best. We will guide you to where you need to go. Our road is paved, but bumpy. We have a hidden exotic fruit orchard tucked away through rolling green hills, perched over the Hamakua cliffs, overlooking the pacific. We sell our fruits ripe and cut ready to eat at our roadside fruit stand, open 11-6 daily including holidays! We serve local fresh juices and machete open coconuts to drink ice cold. We grow mango, durian, lilikoi, star fruit, chocolate sapote, buddhas hand citrus, finger limes, tangerines and tangelos, jackfruit, tree grapes, mangosteen, white pineapples, mountain apples, berries, spices and much more. We are home to dozens of rescue animals, many who came from Puna during the 2018 lava flow. We have peaceful sheep, lambs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese and a lovable pet pig. Not to mention our friendly farm cats. Our current camp sites are not in the fruit orchard, but in a rolling hills open pasture land near the fruit stand. It is rustic and pastoral. The field was great and I appreciated the wifi and porta potty. I never heard a response to my question from Rose though, and I'm still not sure if I stayed in the correct location, that part was a bit awkward. There were 2 gates and the map coordinates provided pointed to way further back than I could reach, but it worked out and was a nice stay.

The hosts are awesome. Amazing. The location has lots of beautiful places to hang out, and the proximity to amazing stuff like the green sand beach, black sand beach, and my favorite, the bakery. Lol. Go spend at least 2 days here to really enjoy it.

We had a wonderful stay at Green/Black Sand Pt. Hipcamp. The site is on the Belt Road and very convenient to local attractions. It has flush toilet and shower facilities as well as a covered patio. We were there during the recent Kona Low storm so the added amenities were very welcome. Robert and Nancy were wonderfully gracious hosts.

It was a really neat place to stay! There are friendly goats on the property, but they won’t bother you. The property managers are very nice people. I definitely recommend getting something from the fruit stand while you’re here, too!

We were in a rented 18ft camper van. Pasture was flat enough to pull up to the picnic table. Port-o-potty was clean. Clear night so we had a great star show. No water available. Sheep were very curious and entertaining. Fairly primitive but we like that, just us and the stars!

The meadow is soft for sleeping on and in the morning we could see the ocean in the distance. Lots of different plants and trees including a big tree that smells like cinnamon and sounds like a rain stick when the breeze blows. It is a long bumpy road but Colin will give good directions. There is a grocery store mall not far away for supplies (and rest rooms)

We stayed here for a night with two sleeping cars and one tent, you got plenty of space. Colin was very nice and always available for helping us. The road to get there is a bit bumpy but nothing too crazy.

As per other reviews, this place is great. Peaceful and quiet. There were some wild pigs rummaging about at night but they weren't too disturbing and when we caught sight of them in the day we were excited to see them. The porta potty was fine. The campsites flat. Good all around.

Collin and his wife are living in a really nice place. There was a kind of jungle feeling up in the hills. The road is fine to drive, just drive slow and enjoy the nice plants. The toilet is nothing for picky girls but was near the ground. Go at night and your fine 😉

Nice campsites, good facilities/ bathrooms/showers, quiet (which wasn't that common at other hip camps), fruit trees galore. All you can eat macadamia nuts. Would stay again.

Nice place to camp. Sheep came to visit which was nice. Swings near the fruit stand were a pleasant place to hang out. There was no trampoline to be found and there is a bit of traffic noise from the road. Overall a good stay.

This place was just what we needed. Potable water, hot showers with great water pressure, half bathrooms, picnic tables to cook on and a safe place to sleep while exploring the southpoint area of Hawaii. We slept in our rental suv and had no problem finding a level spot to park.
