Miners Cabin:
The miners cabin is located in between Dawsonville and Dahlonega Georgia in the heart of gold country. This unexpected gem has been our family’s oasis for the past 7 years and now, we are opening it up to share with others.
Access to the cabin will be via our driveway and guests will not be allowed to drive directly to the cabin. There is a short 3 minute walk from parking access to the cabin. This walk is on an incline and those who may have difficulties walking up or down an incline or on uneven surfaces should consider this walk when planning your trip. Due to access limitations, we ask that you not bring more than two vehicles, We have additional parking at another property if needed but please let us know in advance.
The Cabin sits on a grassy meadow a stones throw from cane branch stream. In the morning and afternoon you should expect to see or hear all types of wildlife. We have a family of raccoons that come around in the summer months and will eat just 5 foot from the porch. In the winter we have several deer that access the creekbed. The wildlife is fed often by our family and has been for the past seven years. Hummingbirds, woodpeckers, whippoorwills, crows, and even goldfish call this oasis home. At night our kids love to hunt for small crawfish in the creek with a flashlight. While bears are always something to watch for, we don’t typically see them on the property.
A few miles of walking paths have been meticulously cared for and created by my father Mike. The mossy stone paths look like something out of a story book in the spring. Along the trails you will find benches and hammocks to lounge on and if you look close enough you may find some crystals that were placed for others to find from some of our many mineral digs over the years. There are two bridges that cross the stream along the paths and an old water wheel from way back that was used in the gold mining process in the creek.
Vegetation on the property includes a variety of chantrell and coral mushrooms. If Mushrooming is your thing we have a good stash of chicken of the woods and if it’s fruiting you are welcome to pick it. Mountain laurels line the creek and bloom beautiful pink blossoms in the spring and summer.
Cane creek branch is a quiet and beautiful stream. The water only gets about waist high at the deepest point making it perfect for kids or dogs to splash around in. Inside the cabin you will find a few gold pans if you would like to try your luck. We have found gold in the creek along with garnets and a few flashes of platinum. This property used to be the site for a long abandoned gold mine and an old metal water wheel still sits on the creek bank. The water wheel is locked but will still turn and at over 8 ft high it is a sight to see in itself. You will find a few small fish but nothing to shake a pole at.
The cabin itself is nothing fancy and we like to keep it that way. It is as primitive as you would expect from the title. Only one electrical outlet is currently in the cabin. There is no running water but there is a water basin for brushing your teeth and washing small items. The bathroom is behind the cabin in a separate facility. This outhouse is unlike anything you have seen and has all of the comforts of home. Sleeping arrangements include a king size bed on a solid frame and a small sofa. You are welcome to pitch a tent or hammock outside as well. In the winter the cabin gets cold, we will provide an electric heater but you should know that it may still get cold inside. The porch looks over the creek and makes a great spot for bird watching.
Amenities include a charcoal grill and a fire pit for cooking. The fire pit has several stable adirondack chairs circling it. We have a throwing board on the property however you will need to rent the throwing items from us and sign a waiver. We also have a small swing by our goldfish pond just across the creek.
Things to do near us.
Kayaking and tubing are just 7 miles down the road. You can rent a kayak from us or from the outfitters. We have 4 sit on top kayaks for adults 2 for children under 100 lbs and several whitewater kayaks are available for rent if you have prior experience. We also will guide you down the river as an additional service. See our price list. Our local outfitter Chestatee River Adventures is typically 30.00 for each kayak and 10.00 for tubing. The trip is 6 miles and can take anywhere from 3-5 hours depending on the water level. Please note that the outfitter is only open during the spring and summer. Our family will take you out no matter the time of year.
Fishing on the Chestatee, Etowah, or lake lanier are also great activities and all can be accessed with a short 10 minute drive. Lake Zwerner is a local fishing hot spot great for grabbing a kayak or canoe and spending the day on the water.
Gold Mining: Dahlonega is the gold city! Only 15 minutes away you will find Consolidated Gold Mine – Underground Gold Mine Tours. Here you can do some gold and gem mining as part of the tour. The gold museum in scenic dahlonega is close by as well.If you are looking for something more my dad offers trips and will show you the basics or can take you out for an all day dredging experience. You keep whatever you find!
Hiking: The area hikes include the start of the great Appalachian (Apple-atch-an) trail. This is amicalola state park a 25 minute drive from the property.

One room, tiny cabin, 10‘ x 16‘ ( it's small) with bathroom , kitchenette , shower, space heater and air conditioning twin bed all in one room it's perfect for one person but it sleeps two with two twin beds one rolls out. Complementary coffee , hot tea, and water. There is a microwave and a mini fridge. It is in the woods by a stream and it is right beside my house where I live. Parking is about 150 feet walk down a small hill and a few stone steps. It is not handicap accessible. 3 miles to grocery and or Target/Walmart. The Chattahoochee river old Settles Bridge is 1/2 of a mile past my driveway trout fishing and kayak if you have one. I have a medium bike you can use.

I had a great time camping with my 6 and 9 year old sons!
We enjoyed hiking the trails, hitting golf balls on the small range, exploring the grounds and petting the animals, and a night time hot tub session.
The tent is great - comfy and spacious enough for 3, and there is plenty of outdoor seating for roasting smores.

3 nights at Private Woodland Oasis In The City
Decided to take a light camping trip while recovering from surgery, this camp site was so nice! It was private, we had a secure place to park, and it felt like a little hidden piece of nature tucked away in the suburbs.
It had all of the amenities we needed and then some. The outdoor bathroom was close enough to get to, even in the rain. And the yurt stayed dry through the thunderstorms. The bed was comfortable. Having a fan was nice, especially on warm humid nights. It was close enough to the city for days/nights out and far enough away to explore the surrounding area.
Already thinking about a return trip and would definitely stay again.

We had such an amazing stay here! The site is beautiful, peaceful, and so thoughtfully put together. There were space heaters and fans throughout, plus two fire pits (one outside and one inside) that made everything feel extra cozy.
The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware, dishes, and utensils, and they even left us a dozen farm fresh eggs to enjoy — such a generous touch. There was plenty of pre-cut firewood along with everything needed to easily start a fire.
What really stood out were all the added comforts — blankets, books, board games, and even a TV with an Xbox and plenty of games and movies. It truly felt like camping with all the comforts of home.
The campsite is quiet, private, and feels very safe, while still being close enough to town if you need anything. The host was kind and accommodating, especially when a website glitch affected my original Valentine’s booking. They communicated clearly and helped us rebook for the following weekend without any issues.
My girlfriend and I absolutely loved our time here and will definitely be back!

Because of the cold Stephanie offered to let us stay in the farm house which was one of the most beautiful homes we've ever seen. We donated some extra money to the farm. This place was absolutely gorgeous and we would definitely stay there again.

Great little place just outside ATL. The camper and bed are super comfortable. The open barn was a perfect hangout. A private plot next to some incredible moss covered boulders.

Genuinely one of the most gorgeous properties I've ever seen. Our hosts made absolutely sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. If you can pull yourself away from the gorgeous grounds they have created, the town and shops are great as well. I will recommend this place to everyone I know!

We really enjoyed our stay. The camper is the perfect size for two people. We also had our two small dogs. Unfortunately it was really cold when we were there, so we couldn't take full advantage of the amenities (like the hammocks!!). Space heaters were provided in the camper and bathroom and took the chill out of the air. There's also a wood stove in the barn, which we used one night. However, since the barn is open to the outside, the space really doesn't heat up and you have to be sitting directly in front of the stove to warm up. Nonetheless, it's a beautiful space with lots of homey details. Also, the fireplace and fire pit were prepped with kindling and firestarter--making it super convenient to get the fire started.
The bathroom is nice and spacious; I loved the rain showerhead, and the toiletries provided. There's also a nice little kitchen area, including dishes, a small fridge, electric cooktop and a few pots/pans, coffee maker, and even an ice maker.
The string lights outside the camper are pretty bright--it would be nice if they were on a timer or if there was a remote/instructions for turning them off at night. That's really my only complaint.
Kaitlin was friendly and easy to communicate with. We had no issues accessing the property and orienting ourselves.
I'd definitely come back, preferably in a shoulder season when I could take full advantage of hanging out in the barn and hammocks. It's a lovely, magical little spot!

1 night at Glampsite 17 Acre Farm South of ATL
A most magical spot that is both expansive and private! It's hard to believe that it could be even better than it is in the photos, but it is. The barn space is so unique, welcoming and well set up. The trailer bedroom space was comfortable and cozy, even in subzero overnight temperatures. The showerheads and water pressure are great, and we were able to prep food in the generous kitchen space. This is great find for those passing through and for those visiting Atlanta.

My husband, my two children, and I had an amazing time at the airstream! It felt decadent to have our very own hiking trails. It was remote enough to feel like we were really out in the middle of nowhere, the stars were so incredible because there was no light pollution.
The airstream itself was clean, well stocked, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We really enjoyed eating at the picnic table for all of our meals and toasting marshmallows. The outdoor shower was a hit with my husband and I, and because there was a little bathtub, my children were able to take a bath after a very dirty day outside.
We would really love to come back in the future and visit again! Highly recommend.

1 night at Peace Apalachee
Beautiful, peaceful, private site. No super close neighbors. As a female traveling alone I felt completely safe. Loved the covered front porch, sat and watched the rain while working on my computer. Listened to the birds and crickets at night. They have fans, shades, lights, so many nice little touches to make it a comfortable stay. Enjoyed hiking the property (very clearly marked and maintained trails) and seeing the river. Had a bonfire at night when there was a break in the rain (was glad I brought firewood as I didn’t see any at the site). The rv was adorable, boho/minimalistic/tastefully decorated. Little lights and coffee/creamer/coffee maker provided. Lots of thoughtful touches, bottle of water in the fridge, lighter, etc. I only stayed one night but want to come again to enjoy the hammock, outdoor shower, kayaks. This place was a steal for the price and the host was friendly and communicative and respected my space. I especially enjoyed watching armadillos scurry around at night. Thank you for a great stay!

Weekend Trip to Stone Mountain Glamping Site
Loved the tent camping provided including the appliances available to cook. Great sleeping space in the tent. Only recommendation is if the tent for the toilet is a little bigger. It was quite difficult to utilize due to the tight space. Other than that, I recommend if you need a quick and simple space to get away from the city.
