The grant was held for 35 years before Maria Garzon, who survived husband Antonio, sold the land they called Garzon’s Point to Joseph (Jose) Bonifay. The land uses were favorable for cattle grazing and turpentining through the 1800s. Many more pioneer families moved into the area and began their own business in the booming industrial opportunities of western Florida. It came to be known as Yellow River Marsh State Buffer Preserve on June 12, 2000, when it was purchased by the state of Florida to protect rare and environmentally sensitive lands, plants and animals. Through generous donations, Preservation 2000 and the Florida Forever Program, more land was added to protect contiguous habitat of the Garcon Ecosystem. Today Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park provides recreational opportunities for hiking and nature study along the Great Florida Birding Trail among rare and endemic plant species and within one of Florida’s oldest multi-cultural frontiers.The preserve is located in Santa Rosa County on Garcon Point, which separates Escambia Bay from Blackwater Bay. The land uses were favorable for cattle grazing and turpentining through the 1800s. Many more pioneer families moved into the area and began their own business in the booming industrial opportunities of western Florida. It came to be known as Yellow River Marsh State Buffer Preserve on June 12, 2000, when it was purchased by the state of Florida to protect rare and environmentally sensitive lands, plants and animals. Through generous donations, Preservation 2000 and the Florida Forever Program, more land was added to protect contiguous habitat of the Garcon Ecosystem. Malakai’s Campground is truly a hidden gem! The property is peaceful, secure, and beautifully maintained. Joe, the host, is a wonderful man—kind, hospitable, and always willing to lend a hand. You can tell he genuinely cares about making sure every guest has a great experience. I’m a local and ended up staying here two weekends in a row while my house was being used for Airbnb guests. Normally, I’d travel elsewhere, but this time I wanted to stay close to home—and I’m so glad I did. From now on, this will be my go-to spot whenever I want to unwind and enjoy something different from the usual beach life. Highly recommend this campground for a relaxing, memorable stay—and my two pups 🐶🐶 give it their full approval too!

Glamping in Paradise is a gem! The site is well appointed; we were surprised to find many amenities and thoughtful touches. Our stay endured chilly nights, warm days, and a quick downpour - no worries here with the fireplace, A/C and fan, and thick tent. The lights outside were so cozy at night and we enjoyed looking at all the plants. Host was communicative and quick to respond to app messages during our stay. This was the best campsite that I've ever been to. The campground is beautiful and secluded. The interior of the tent is super cozy, I slept better there than in my own bed at home! The owners put so much thought and consideration into amenities that make the stay so much nicer. The kitchenette is a super nice addition, with multiple cooking utensils for use with the charcoal grill. Not to mention the owners themselves were super kind and accommodating. I can't wait until I book another trip here in the future!

This campground has way more to offer than they advertise. It is a diamond in the rough. It is ocean front with a pool and a hot tub. They have a clubhouse with daily activities and programs and we even had a bowl of chili one night. It is quaint and their are long term as well as short term renters there. The bath house is small but clean. There is even a family bath which is good if you have kids with you. There is a dog park and play ground. It has alot to offer.

We got to our campsite pretty late and after dark and it was very easy to find ! The welcome packet they provided was soo extremely helpful and we added on firewood to our booking and that made getting set up super easy. Having electric and water was also great ! The washhouse was incredibly clean and well stocked and I had a great shower with hot water. Would recommend to anyone who needs a safe, clean place to camp. There are donkeys and other wild life as well as fellow campers dogs that made sleeping a little tricky as it was a bit loud so i would recommend packing ear plugs if u are a restless sleeper.

Like the title says, this is a perfect place for a getaway or extended stay. I stayed in a tent during my stay & loved it. I picked this site for the electric & water hookups, which also makes ideal for anyone with a small camper. The (seemingly brand new) bathroom facilities are a 30 second walk away… which includes very well kept full bathroom, hot shower, & coin operated washing machine & dryer. They even have a soda/snacks pay-as-you-go honor system general store. I had access to WiFi from the site too. I spent most of my days relaxing by the fire in the comfy Adirondack chairs. The site is nestled in the back corner of the property, which gave me all the privacy I wanted, but close enough to all of the amenities that Jay & Suzette (owners) have to offer. Speaking of which, they are really lovely, down to earth people… they’ll make sure you get what you need with timely communication, yet they don’t intrude on your camping experience. All in all, the whole experience was great: peaceful, relaxing, & yet still had all the creature comforts of modern day living within reach if I wanted. Great spot, great owners, & an overall great trip.

Return visit to this amazing HipCamp space. Beyond the hosts being super amazing communicators, the bathroom is spotless…. And I loved being able to take a nice hot shower, in a super clean shower stall. On this trip, while driving over, some deer crossed my path about a mile out (3 babies with mom)… so be careful…. Deer in the area! I will absolutely be coming back, and I hope to stay a few days next time. Thank you Jay and Suzette!

Everything was super clean, the laundry room was perfect. Staff was friendly and helpful. We loved the activities they planned daily. We really enjoyed the outdoor movie night looking out over the water. The highlight of the trip was putting our kayaks in the water right from the campground and watching the sunset out on the water. The camp store was stocked with anything we might need and the beach was only a short drive. We will definitely return.

Jay and Suzette are amazing Hipcamp hosts! They did everything they could to ensure I had the best possible stay. When they heard about my particular camping rig setup (overlanding truck), they offered to move me to another location that they said I would enjoy even more. WOW! That was proactive on their part! They truly were attentive to my having a positive experience. It is very easy to find their location and they provide very detailed instructions on how to not only find your specific spot (with a detailed map!!), but also how everything works. They have laundry facilities on site (at a reasonable price I might add), and their shower space is fantastic! Very very clean with plenty of hot water. The lending library was great; the honor system based pantry was nice too. The other campers I encountered were all nice and everyone minded their own space. The camping spot was clean and level for me. It is tough identifying one amazing thing as there are so many great things to love about the experience. I will absolutely be back and I hope to stay more than one night next time. Thank you Jay and Suzette! You are Hipcamp hosts who do it right!! -Will

BCRV is a family-owned 52-site RV Park just north of the Emerald Coast, located in a quiet location within driving distance of Destin, Miramar Beach, Sandestin and Freeport dining, shopping, and beaches. We're a park and go and offer all the basic necessities in a very quiet forest location, but we're still just north of all of the popular beaches. It's run by me, my wife, my son, and our new little puppy Ollie (he's the most important.) There's a grocery store nearby, and all RV types up to 45ft are welcome here, with 20, 30, and 50 amp hookups available. Water, sewer, trash, electric, and wifi are all included at no additional charge. Doordash is available, and Hungry Howies Pizza also delivers to us if you're not feeling like cooking. Every site has a picnic table and fire pit, and Firewood, Propane, and Laundry facilities are also available on-site for you to purchase or pay for as well. We do NOT have public restrooms. Primitive camping and popups with no restrooms are currently not allowed. Weekly and Monthly discount rates are also available if you go directly to my website and book there. The discount is applied automatically at checkout. When booking your site, please be aware that the site numbers on Hipcamp may not be accurate to the sites you'll be using in the park. All sites offer the same amenities, and I try to put everyone in a site that works best for their needs and RV size.
