History of our location Count De Galvez awarded a land grant on Garcon Point to Antonio Garzon following his 1781 Siege of Pensacola in consideration of “his good services rendered as an interpreter to the Indians of Pensacola." The grant was held for 35 years before Maria Garzon, who survived husband Antonio, sold the land they called Garzon’s Point to Joseph (Jose) Bonifay.
The land uses were favorable for cattle grazing and turpentining through the 1800s. Many more pioneer families moved into the area and began their own business in the booming industrial opportunities of western Florida. It came to be known as Yellow River Marsh State Buffer Preserve on June 12, 2000, when it was purchased by the state of Florida to protect rare and environmentally sensitive lands, plants and animals.
Through generous donations, Preservation 2000 and the Florida Forever Program, more land was added to protect contiguous habitat of the Garcon Ecosystem.
Today Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park provides recreational opportunities for hiking and nature study along the Great Florida Birding Trail among rare and endemic plant species and within one of Florida’s oldest multi-cultural frontiers.The preserve is located in Santa Rosa County on Garcon Point, which separates Escambia Bay from Blackwater Bay.
Nearly 20 rare and endangered species of plants 🪴 and animals make their homes along the bay and its wet prairies, dome swamps and flatwoods.

Cypress Landing RV Park is a family-oriented, locally-owned RV park that sits on the shores of beautiful Gantt Lake in South Alabama. The lake is approximately 2,700 acres in size with 21 miles of shoreline. Water sports enthusiasts will enjoy skiing, swimming, jet-skiing, and boating on its waters, while fishermen will appreciate catching shell crackers, bream, and bass. During the winter, duck hunters can experience incredible hunts on the lake.
The park opened in April 2015 with 63 camp sites, 2 cabins, and a general store. The boat docks were completely redone in the fall of 2015. During that time, the boat ramp was also completed. Tent sites were added in the spring of 2016. We are planning on adding waterfront RV sites in the future.

We had a wonderful stay in the little rustic cabin.
Grilled steaks, enjoyed 2 evenings by the campfire.
Archery hunted Boggy Hollow for 2 days and got to hunt in the snow.
We had everything we needed in the cabin and hope to be back soon!

What a beautiful place to relax and let the noise of the world fade away. The property is spacious, with plenty of shade and room to run and play, plus a lovely walking trail that leads down to the creek. Though the creek is narrow, it was perfect for walking the full creek bed with our dog as he learns the river. Along the way, we found several swimming holes that were just deep enough to cool off, but never too deep to be safe.
The fire pit is beautifully laid out and makes the perfect spot for morning coffee in the shade. The house itself is neat, clean, and tidy, with everything thoughtfully put together — it truly feels like a cozy cabin in the woods.
We especially appreciated how private and dog-friendly the property is. Our pittie boy had the best time exploring, swimming, and enjoying the simple pleasures of the private beach and creek walks. It’s exactly the kind of secluded getaway we’re always searching for, and we’ve already added it to our trip planner for future visits. Mary was so very pleasant, patient and accommodating. I felt very welcomed and at home. Thank you Mary :)

Wonderful place to just hang out at the creek and disconnect from the everyday hustle of work. Beautiful rustic yet elegant log cabin In a remote location with no one else in sight from the property. Private beach on the river, which the grandkids loved. There is a large pavillion down by the creek. A firepit and grill behind the house and a large back porch. Absolutely wonderful place to unplug and spend time with family. The house does have wi-fi and Hughes Net if you choose to stay plugged in. Very spotty cell service. We had a great time. Lightning hit nearby while we were there and we lost power. Mary was readily available to contact the power company and stayed in close contact until the issues were resolved. She offered to refund our remaining days if we wanted to check out but we were enjoying ourselves so much we stayed anyway. Would definitely recommend the cabin. Great location, beautiful home and attentive hostess. What else do you need?!

We lucked out here. We had a quiet weekend (as you can with THREE boys 12,13,13). Sheila and Larry were so friendly, they stopped in a bit after we arrived. We were able to chat a bit while we were allowing the boys to be boys… sometimes it’s hard to be able to. It was so refreshing for me to enjoy nature and let the boys do the work and run like heathens for once. We will most definitely be back to this beautiful piece of property.

Navarre beach camping resort was beautiful. Less than 10 minutes drive to the beach. The bay is beautiful. Everybody was super nice. They even do kayak rentals. Heated pool and hot tub. Will definitely be returning.

We had a short stay before heading to New Orleans. We stayed in a one bedroom, with a small warm shower bathroom and kitchen. We had a TV as well with picnic table. It was a very nice stay, people were friendly. The beach access and doc where lovely and the water was so clear and beautiful. We took advantage of the hot tub as we visited in February and the Temps were in the 40-50 during the day. We had everything we needed for cooking in the cabin and utensils. They provided us with space heaters due to the lower Temps which was so nice and made it comfortable to relax in. I think the only thing that I kept thinking was that it would have maybe been nice to have had a fire ring that time of year to have sat by. However, absolutely was not a big issue. We did observe that some site had fore rings and some did not so it may have been something we just needed to request. It was such a low key and beautiful place with great restaurants everywhere. We will absolutely return during nicer weather. We had a lovely time.

Most definitely rustic and cozy. My father and I stayed for the weekend to do some fishing, which was very nice. The ponds are much lower than the pictures showed, mainly due to it being a rough drought year, but we still caught a few catfish a piece. Several fish still swimming around in there if you have the proper gigs. Larry is quite the host! He invited us to his family fish fry and offered to clean and cook the catfish for us. WHAT A COOK! Fantastic fish fry! He made hushpuppies, sweet potato fries, and coleslaw as well. So generous! Now, the cabin is rustic and creaky no doubt, but it's cozy. The upstairs feels a little dangerous, like it might fall through almost, so be careful with jumping around up there. Also, if you're a builder, plumber, or electrician...it might be a nightmare. My dad was scared there would be an electrical fire in the night or that the floor would give way. Other than that it has all the cooking and kitchen essentials like forks, spoons, knives, plates, bowls, cups, coffee cups, pots with lids, frying pans, a cookie sheet pan, loaf pan, Pyrex dishes for oven, tupperware containers for storing, strainer, spatulas, ladle for serving and stirring, meat tenderizer, etc. Wood was cut in a big stack at the front of the cabin and there was an axe just in case. There is a little charcoal grill in the front and a small fire pit with two chairs. The land is lovely and well managed. A swinging bench facing the pond was extremely peaceful in the morning.
