Wake up at an Animal Sanctuary!

Rooterville is a nonprofit home to over 100 rescued farm animals of all types, THEY make it an amazing place to visit!  When you stay with us, you are welcome to explore the sanctuary and interact with the animals.  The only place off limits is our cow/horse pasture. But you can book a cow cuddle if you'd like to go in and interact with the cows, especially the Highland cow.  It is a wonderful experience for the cow lovers.  

Come on out to the country for the experience of a lifetime interacting with sweet farm animals in luxury accommodations or bring your own RV or a tent and "rough" it in your choice of spots on our beautiful 20 acre property surrounded by lots of amazing wild creatures of all sorts and our friendly animal ambassadors.  We have butterfly gardens and we're surrounded by natural woodlands in a convenient yet private and peaceful setting.  

 Maybe you'll spot a bald eagle getting a meal from our ponds!

There's so much to see and enjoy right here at the sanctuary, we have over 100 rescued animals who can't wait to meet you and maybe bum a snack from you too.

 If you get bored, there is plenty to do nearby:

 Goldhead Park, a paved Bike Trail, Jacksonville, St Augustine, High Springs, Ocala and Gainesville are all within an hour's drive.

Melrose is quaint and rural.

We don't rush here.

 Except at feeding time!

 You'll get to experience that too if you get out early enough.

No smoking in our units, no pets due to our animals and our Anatolian guard dogs who will love you but not a pooch they don't know.

CAMPERS & RV's, NO ADMITTANCE TO THE PROPERTY FOR BOOK-IN AFTER 10PM WITHOUT EXPRESS PERMISSION, please be considerate of the owner and others here trying to sleep!  You are welcome to come and go as you please after you are here of course.  

Campers and RV's especially will need to be considerate of other guests on the property when setting up that late in the evening.  We have space in the front of the property to boondock for late campers' arrival and we'll get you into the sanctuary and set up in the AM if you get here late.

Camp Declan

Camp Declan is many things rolled into one.

First, it is a private six-acre hardwood forest with 400’ of shoreline on a fresh-water, all-purpose lake. The air is clean and fresh and the fish, birds and Florida wildlife teem around you.


Second, are the three buildings Cabin, Cabana and Bunkhouse. Each has a bathroom and the Cabin and Bunkhouse accommodate 18 overnight guests comfortably. The Cabana serves as outdoor bar/kitchen and hangout. Larger groups can be accommodated with a little ingenuity, too.


Third, the layout of the property is such that the lake and large floating dock are always the star of the show. Whether you’re playing volleyball, badminton or horse shoes, sitting around the fire pit or canoeing on the lake, the sum of its parts makes a wonderful private indoor/outdoor lodging and recreation space for fishing, swimming, boating and grilling.

The Good Karma Honey Bee BnB

Karma Acres Farm was started in 2010 by Lee Hughes and Lisa Broward to promote their love for beekeeping and gardening for wildlife. They produce wonderful, natural, raw honey and honey products for their local community. In fact, their farm was voted as #1 best honey provider in Nassau County in 2019.

Anastasia Island  RV Pad Rental

We love living on Anastasia Island. It is a small Island 2 miles wide by 15 miles long. It is walking distance to the beach,  fishing pier  and amphitheater.  We have a small fishing lake in the back yard (unfenced). There is a national bird rookery preserve a few blocks away so the bird watching is wonderful. There is an alligator farm and a dolphin aquarium on the island., as well as a historic continuous working light house. Our pad is just across the Bridge of Lions (2 miles) from the Oldest USA city, St. Augustine, Fl. The historic Fountain of Youth is there along with many other attractions.

We have two level paver RV Pads. They both have electric, black and grey water cleanout, fast high speed internet (full hookup).   They each have   private patios for picnics, socializing, and relaxing.

Pad 1 accommodates an RV up to up to 28' in length.  Pad 2 accommodates an RV up to 34' in length.  Both sites have full RV hookups.  We accept Class B, Class C, Small 5th Wheel, Pop-up Campers, Vans and Travel Trailers.  Sorry, we can't take Class A and no tent camping is allowed.

There is also a large back deck with picnic area overlooking the small fishing lake in the back yard. 

We enjoy meeting fellow travelers and sharing our paradise island.

 We are LGBTQ friendly.

Our neighborhood is quiet and safe.

The location has easy access to great adventures, history and wonderful memories may be made here.

Pets are welcome on leash. accompanied by an adult, Each additional pet (over 1 pet) is $5. additional fee. There is an off leash  park two blocks away. The beaches are also pet friendly.

We adhere to CDC guidelines for safety.

Across the Bridge of Lions downtown St. Augustine is all a-glow during holidays.  Every building is trimmed in white lights.

Historic sites are fun to explore in the "Oldest US City" just across the Bridge of Lions within 3 miles.  Be sure and visit fort "Castillo de San Marco"  and admire all the beautiful boats in the Intercostal canal.
