The air is clean and fresh and the fish, birds and Florida wildlife teem around you. Second, are the three buildings Cabin, Cabana and Bunkhouse. Each has a bathroom and the Cabin and Bunkhouse accommodate 18 overnight guests comfortably. The Cabana serves as outdoor bar/kitchen and hangout. Our camper sleeps four and it is on our private property. Our camp offers great air-conditioning, chairs, an awning, some shade, some sun, and a fire pit. The beds have clean sheets and we offer some dishes, pots n pans, a few CDs, blankets, pillows, toilet paper, and ice trays in the lil freezer. The Palatka area has restaurants, laundromats, marinas, public fishing, grocery stores, and other retail shops. Satsuma proper, we love because we don't have to deal with traffic, and it's close to St. Johns river where professionals and amatures alike, can go boating or catch bass from land or boat. We are 34 miles from St. Augustine and 44 miles from Daytona (just over 45 min drive to either historic/fun place). Come back to Hoot Owl Ridge to relax!

The whole space is about 50ft x 50ft Campsite B “The Bus” is a retired 1978 Greyhound Tourbus. The cab remains untouched with all the vintage radios and switches. As for the rest…it’s essentially a queen size sleeping studio. Equipped with 2 small under mount refrigerators, a large toaster, 2 burner stove and hot water. Definitely went far out with this one but, it also has fun lighting and 100’s of vinyl records and amazing sound system. The windows are very thick and filter the natural daylight, so reading or jumping online (yes there is Internet) is very relaxing. Campsite C “The Preserve” is for those that just have a small tent and minor gear. Bike touring is popular in our area and we are a base camp for mid-journey adventures. Affordable, safe and refreshing….and back gate to the trail. Our Indoor/Outdoor restroom is fully enclosed and plumbed with hot water shower and flushing toilet. The concrete structure is for all camp guests.

Weekend Trip to Hoot Owl Paradise

As a family of 4 we enjoyed our 1 night stay. The RV was comfortable and we appreciated the stocked kitchen. There is a slight musty smell but I think that is to be expected with it sitting back there. The outdoor space is small but could fit an additional tent. Somewhat private. We loved the fire pit, a great place to tell spooky stories and roast marshmallows!

2 nights at Okefenokee Pastimes Cabins and Camp

If you’re going to the swamp to kayak, this is a great location. It is right across from the National Wildlife Refuge entry. I stayed in the most basic cabin, whites just two beds, a mini fridge, microwave, fire pit, and small screened porch. Cabin is the size of a bedroom, basically. Communal shower and bathroom was satisfactory for a camping experience. Don’t expect hotel quality in the bathroom, that’s not what this is about. Charlene, a caretaker, was kind and helpful. I stayed her with my adult son. Perfect for two people. We brought a portable grill to make our own food and also went to Folkston for one dinner. It is quiet and family friendly. The swamp is an amazing natural wonder.

I’ve been here numerous times. Extremely relaxing. Kids loves it like they do every time we come. Plenty of room to run and play. Stayed outside almost the entire time. Dogs loved it too. I’m sure I’ll be back.

This was a phenomenal property. Absolutely perfect for our plans. We brought a ground of Young Men ages 14-17 here for a few days and they had such an incredible experience. There was something for everyone and I would highly recommend the property to anyone. I may be trying to organize another stay here specifically because of how great it was for our needs. Additionally, Declan was very responsive to our questions and requests. Top notch!

We were a group of 18, 8 adults and 10 kids and had THE BEST TIME. The kids could roam, fish, play in the dirt, just be kids. No Tv’s no screens, just nature! Highly recommend for anyone who wants a “camping” experience without actually camping! The owner was very attentive and answered any questions promptly. We believe he was on the property (in an RV far from the house) but never saw nor heard from him…but found safety in him knowing the neighbors/neighborhood, etc. We are already planning our next trip!

Such a beautiful and peaceful place. The main cabin and bunkhouse were so cozy. We hung out at the outdoor kitchen area a lot, so many thoughtful things included. All of the dogs loved it too. Would definitely come back.
