Welcome to Camp Wilder! We are an off-the-beaten-path camp offering peace and solitude.
The cabin is very special to my family and me. It was passed down as a mining claim from my grandmother who founded it in the '60s. The vision for the land was simply perfect.
A small 10 x 10 cabin with the whole mountain to explore and whoever they wished to bring with them.
The town of Nederland is 10 minutes down the road where you can fish at Baker Reservoir. Lots of fun little stores in town to keep the family busy.
Wildlife is everywhere up by the cabin/campsite, always remember don't leave food lying around with lots of great things to look for around the magical town of Nederland.
The cabin sleeps up to 8 with the futon downstairs being very comfortable and 3" foam upstairs in the loft for more sleeping area. Bring your sleeping bags to stay cozy at night. There are lanterns inside to light up your night with a wood stove to keep you warm at night. The ground around it is sloped so you may have a hard time setting up any tents around the cabin.
The grocery store is in Nederland where you can buy food, Coleman green propane bottles, gallon jugs of water and wood. There is a 3 burner Coleman, stove to cook on with limited pots & pans as well as silverware.
Road disclaimer, the road to the cabin is one lane dirt road. The drive up to the cabin is pretty good but the turn onto the single dirt road to the cabin has a slight dip, if you have a low-clearance car it may bottom out when you are turning so be careful.
No Trailers. They will not be able to turn around once there.
Recommend vehicles with AWD. Go 3.4 miles up Caribou road. Turn right @ yellow stakes go .4 miles. Park on the left. Hike down to the cabin between yellow stakes.

When leaving please make sure both door locks are locked, put the key in the lock box and mix the code for the next camper.

Located on a private, forested area of our modern, Off-Grid working homestead. This site offers you mountaintop views, plenty of aspens as well as pine trees and abundant wildlife passing through.
Leave the noise of the city behind and wake up to birds singing, hummingbirds buzzing by and potentially a moose or deer sighting. Oh and quite possibly our rooster crowing ;) Hike into the National Forest off the property. Guided hikes can also be arranged for an additional fee. Or just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet!
Plenty of other hiking trails nearby, creeks and Slaughterhouse Gulch for those that love a good 4WD adventure.
A propane fire-pit will be provided for you so you can still enjoy a nice campfire. A propane heater is also available for chilly nights or winter camping. The Greenhouse also includes a camp stove, a percolator for making coffee or tea, minimal cookware and silverware. Potable water will be provided along with coffee and tea. Fresh eggs from our chickens can also be made available upon request for a small fee.
Cots and a hammock are available for use in the Greenhouse, but you will have to bring your own sleeping mats, sleeping bags and pillows. Sleeping mats and sleeping bags on the floor are also an option if you choose. Picnic tables are close to the Greenhouse for enjoying time outdoors.
The Glamping in the Aspens Tent has a wood burning stove in it that will be available starting later season 2024. Firewood for the wood stove will be provided for you. Just outside the tent is a picnic table with BBQ grill and propane fire pit. There is a porch area with outdoor kitchen and a queen sized bed inside the tent. A comfy dog bed is also included.
A composting toilet is available for use. No showers currently available (Bath House coming soon).
Well behaved dogs are allowed, however, they must be on a leash or under voice command.
There are 2 dogs that live on the property as well as chickens, turkeys, and a cat. All will be contained so as not to disturb (except for the occasional rooster crow).

There are easy trails on property along the lush stream (the original riverbed of the Middle Saint Vrain Stream), fishing or swimming in the pond (no lifeguard on duty), or challenging trails into Roosevelt National Forest from the property. (Ask Hiker Dot for guidance.) Several National Forest access points, where you can enjoy peaceful walks away from crowds, are a short drive.
New this year Bliss Camp is adding a 12' x 14' Glamping Tent Cabin.
Bliss Canyon is a spur off of breathtaking, picturesque South Saint Vrain Canyon. Stroll on over to the South or Middle for renowned fly fishing. For climbers, there are over 50 climbs in South Saint Vrain Canyon!
Dark Skies:
If you like to watch the stars and meteor showers, Bliss Canyon is blessed with dark skies with little light from the plains. Bring your telescopes and explore the Universe.
Rocky Mountain National Park, one of the five Crown Jewels of the National Park Service, is nearby. The closest trailhead in RMNP is 10 miles, the next trailhead at Wild Basin entrance to the park is 13 miles, and the Beaver Meadows entrance (main entrance) is 36 miles. Rocky Mountain National Park has breathtaking drives, easy strolls with interpretive signs, and 360 miles of trails. (Advance reservation required for entry 9:00 am to 3:00 pm for main park, or 5:00 am to 6:00 pm for Bear Lake corridor.)
Indian Peaks Wilderness also has several nearby access points and trailheads. Ask Dot for details.
The charming town of Lyons is 20 minutes away with coffee shops, restaurants, bars, lots of great live music, and quaint shops. Also, Spirit Hound Distillery received the award for the #1, Best Whiskey in the World in 2022, hmmm, it might be worth a tasting!

My family and I really enjoyed camping at Dot and Byron's boondocking site. I have a 24 ft. travel trailer which fit nicely in their spot. The area is beautiful to say the least. Dot and Byron were very hospitable and very helpful in many ways to include providing information on the area and helping me get my camper in place. It was quiet and peaceful even with other guests on site. Initially, the proximity of the workshop and permanent trailer was slightly off putting but with all the goodness that feeling faded fast. We had a great time and I felt relaxed there.

Second time camping here and another relaxing weekend! Easy to find with the host’s directions and is very quiet but close enough to town. Able to get to site with a FWD SUV but would not want to attempt in snow or heavier mud/rain. Will likely be back again!

We loved our experience! We made it in time to peep the fall leaves and also got to experience a beautiful pink sunset. The tent site was large enough to pull our VW van into and gave us room to pop the top. Despite other campers staying in the cabin across the way, it was quiet and we felt very secluded (what we were looking for!). Our two dogs also had a blast and spent a ton of time exploring the woods. 10/10 recommend. Will absolutely be back to both the tent site and are already looking to make plans to book the cabin site soon.

Camping here was absolutely wonderful! From the drive up to the view from the porch, the scenery was gorgeous. The site itself is a bit tricky to find which was my only issue. Otherwise the location is perfect, and the lodging was stocked with a multitude of useful resources. I would definitely visit again!

Loved the location, nestled in a valley with the gorgeous stream flowing by. Great location to park our travel trailer and enjoy the weekend. Super clean port-a-potty and amazing views. Loved hiking to the balanced rock and enjoyed the peaceful scenery! Picnic table was perfect for meals and the stream-side chairs were amazing for coffee and a book. Dot and Byron were fabulous hosts and met us on the road to help guide us into the spot. Will definitely return!

Dot and Byron were fabulous hosts! Everything was great for introducing my two little ones (3 and 1) to camping. The hosts met me and gave me all kinds of local advice. The kitchen was so useful. The little fireplace was great for their first smores. The property had all kinds of games and cute Knick knacks to find. Lots of seating options. The beds were actually comfortable! This is a magical place! The property is gorgeous, the explorer tent was beyond comfortable with every detail thought out to perfection. The accommodations were over the top, and we had the greatest time! Annette and Patrick are super friendly and they have thought of everything! All cookware, utensils, seasonings, sink, water, propane heater, fire pit, and grill, chairs, extra blankets, dog bed and bowls, queen size air mattress, and bedding are there for you. It got down to 33° at night and we were very comfortable in the tent with the propane heater they provide. We did bring additional sleeping bags to add to the air mattress and sheets they provided and it even got a little too warm for us which was great. Also, solar power for charging electronics and they provide lighting in the tent. The view is amazing and it’s so quiet which is what I wanted. No road noises, just nature. The spot is large and you have complete privacy.
You really need an off-road vehicle to get up to the site, and be sure to air-down a bit. The road to the Campground is pretty bumpy and then you have a steep incline to their property. I have a Jeep Wrangler and it’s a fun ride up if you prepare for it.

What a great experience. After this stay, I would count Byron and Dot as friends and not just hosts. We had an issue with our camper and they directed us to West Main Auto where Eric took great care of us. The property is beautiful and pic don't do it justice, but Byron and Dot made the stay a favorite! Highly recommend this stay. We definitely acquired new friends here!

2 nights at Rocky Mountain Glamping
Dot & Byron were great! Very welcoming and had lots of recommendations for some great hikes. Great communication and I would definitely stay here again. The tents were beautiful, the outdoor kitchen and shower were amazing! They truly thought of everything. ❤️
