🌲 Glen Isle Campgrounds – A Historic Riverside Retreat Welcome to Glen Isle, a 125-year-old mountain resort along the North Fork of the South Platte River. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Glen Isle offers a camping experience rich in Colorado history, natural beauty, and a warm sense of community. 🔥 Fire Policy – Preserving History, Ensuring Safety Due to wildfire risk and increasing insurance challenges in our region, open flames are not permitted. This includes wood-burning campfires, charcoal grills, and any flame that could spark a wildfire. We do offer: • A designated community fire ring, approved by the fire department, which may be used when fire restrictions are not in place. • Campers may bring propane fire rings and propane cooking gear. Thank you for helping protect Glen Isle’s forest surroundings and historic buildings for generations to come. 🚗 Highway Proximity – A Historic Trade-Off A common question we hear involves our location next to Highway 285. When Glen Isle opened in the early 1900s, the highway was a railroad line, and being close to it was a luxury. Guests would arrive with their trunks and walk straight onto the property. Today, that same route is a busy road. While some campers aren’t bothered by traffic sounds, others may find it disruptive—especially at our riverside sites. We do our best to communicate this clearly and offer alternative campsites farther from the road for a quieter stay. 🎣 Activities & Amenities On Site Glen Isle is more than just a campsite. You’ll enjoy: • Fly fishing and rod fishing • A disc golf course through the trees • A trailhead ½ mile behind the property • A recreation room with games • A curated gift shop • Guided tours of the historic lodge • Friendly rescue horses • Bingo Nights in the Kiva • Campfire music gatherings • Tuesday Food Truck nights • A stroll to the Coney Island hot dog stand • Just 30 miles from Red Rocks Amphitheatre ⸻ Whether you’re here to cast a line, enjoy music under the stars, or explore the wilderness, Glen Isle offers more than a place to camp—it’s a place to connect.

Horse ranch and nature conservation area. We have a pond you can float in and horses and mules who live here, as well as elk and pronghorn, and a bear. Dogs are welcome! We love dogs! Off leash is fine as long as they don’t chase the horses (and keep in mind that the mules do chase dogs). There is a gas firepit and a gas grill, sitting areas, a port a potty. There is a flat graded area for tents with a picnic table. We ask that there are no fires except for gas (we are still traumatized by the East Troublesome Fire that was 200,000 plus acres. We did not burn here and we’d like to keep it that way. We also ask that there is no loud music because this is the wild animals’ home first, and the antelope and elk have new babies. We are very close to Granby for the grocery store, restaurants, and the Granby Flying Heels Rodeo. We are nearby to the west entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake, Hot Sulfur Springs Resort, Lake Granby and Fraser/Winter Park and all that Grand County Colorado has to offer. Also close by is Granby Ranch for downhill mountain biking and golf. We are about two hours from Denver. The campsite is equipped with a unique dual purpose wood/propane fire ring - bring your own propane to enjoy campfires while burn bans are in effect. Great hiking opportunities may be found right on the property, and numerous nearby seldom used dirt roads provide exceptional mountain biking opportunities. Close to recreational opportunities in Buena Vista and Salida, as well as Antero, Eleven Mile, and Spinney Mountain Reservoirs. A level site with great access, and can accommodate large RV's and campers. And keep your eyes out - you might just see some Pronghorn passing through the property! At 3.9 miles, turn left (East) onto lightly used Shawnee Trail (Note: On occasion due to County grading on CR 53, there will be a small mound to drive over as you enter this left turn).

If you want to camp but don’t want to be stuck in a crowded campground with noisy neighbors, we’d love to have you! Thanks for stopping in, and for your interest in Pronghorn Oasis! Our campsite is currently closed for the Winter months, and we plan to reopen in late April to early May of 2026 as weather permits. Please check back with us in the Spring, and in the mean time feel free to reach out with any questions. Until then best wishes, and we look forward to seeing you in our upcoming camping season! A new Hipcamp site in only its 2nd season, on one of the most unique properties in Park County. With just a single Hipcamp site on a large 40 acre property and no neighbors nearby, you'll enjoy a private camping experience in one of the most scenic locations in Colorado. The property is partially wooded, and there is a spectacular view from the top of a prominent hill on the property which is some of the highest ground for miles in all directions. Upon completion of the City of Aurora's Wild Horse Reservoir in the 2030's, this will be a "waterfront" property. On site picnic tables (the tan colored bench can fold into a table) and a porta-potty are provided. Directions from the town of Hartsel: Proceed 2 miles South on State Hwy 9. Turn right (South) on CR 53. Stay right at the fork at 1.3 miles. At 3.9 miles, turn left (East) onto lightly used Shawnee Trail (Note: On occasion due to County grading on CR 53, there will be a small mound to drive over as you enter this left turn). Proceed about one-quarter mile (and past the the POSTED NO TRESPASSING sign just inside the property entrance) to the campsite a bit further on the left.
