The land is surrounded by BLM and near the Uncompahge National Forest. The Dark Sky campsite is also close to the Unaweep/Tabegauche Scenic and Historic Byway. We are about 2 hours from Moab, UT! We go to Moab to get sushi. Come here to get away from it all! The land itself offers incredible mountain views. You park at the tree line with desert Sage brush views to the East, Pinion and Juniper trees with a private canyon and beautiful rock formations to the West. Just North is 45 acres of landlocked BLM public land walking distance from the campsite. Unit 70 for the hunters who know how legendary this area is. Our land has an obstacle course, private paintball/gel blaster/nerf field, seasonal lake, trails, canyon, elevation gains and drops. Pets are encouraged to join you.

Pull all through the Cabins and either turn left up the little hill camping anywhere, but keep the fire pit open for everyone. Or drive through the green gate past cabin #7 and camp in the pasture. Bathhouse is in the middle of the cabins. (No Bathhouse or water after September 15th.) Fire pit and picnic table are on the hill.  You can have dogs off leash anywhere away from the cabins and RV sites, just be careful as we have horses, we don't want the pup's getting kicked.  Let me know if you need anything. Camp host is only there 25% of the time, with only two sites, you are not likely to see anyone else. Each campsite is marked, has a fire ring and flat spots for tents. There is plenty of dead aspen to burn. One composting porta potty serves both sites. You will need to bring your own water and leave with your garbage. There is decent cell phone reception (Verizon), but with towers on top of Waterdog Mtn, other providers are likely. Foot traffic to the top of Waterdog, from near the locked gate, is totally tolerated despite the signs. Blessed with the state’s finest top soil, it’s lush in a way most of the west can’t provide. A great place to play with a plant identification app, foragers will be thrilled with the amount of edible plants. I found this camp at the last minute, while pulled over on the side of the road. It was awesome! The owner came and showed me around and advised me on working the hot shower. There.was a pond, total privacy, with everything I needed. It was lovely and I would definitely recommend staying at CampV!

This place has amazing views! There was even a rainbow over the mountains when we arrived. It's a little less remote than expected, but it still felt private enough. The road to the campsite is a bit steep, but we've been on way rougher roads. I would definitely stay here again.

The site was gorgeous, with plenty to do nearby, but what really stood out to me was the camp hosts. I was struggling with my equipment and the hosts helped me get everything set up for a comfortable stay. It brought good stay to a great stay and I was so grateful! Surrounded by views more gorgeous than I ever could have imagined, it was nice to have people equally fantastic!

The overlook was a beautiful spot we stayed for a night while traveling through Ouray. We stayed in a truck camper and had no problem backing down the switchback to the spot. I think it would be even easier in an SUV or van. We liked that the spot was not totally visible from the road and offered privacy and felt safe and was pretty quiet. The views (especially at sunset) and the stargazing was amazing! Michael was quick to respond and it was really easy to book last minute.

Just as pictured! As a woman traveling/camping solo, I’m careful about where I choose to camp. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect but this spot felt very safe - hard to see from the roads coming up and a friendly but very respectful neighbor checked in to see if I needed anything. I know that can sometimes be alarming but he was truly so kind and did it in such a respectful way! I recommend getting here in daylight as the grade down would be tricky for me in the dark. My CRV did just fine. Otherwise, it’s very convenient to Ridgway and Ouray and was nice and quiet at night.

Our stay at Bristol Mountain/Broken Arrow Ranch was wonderful! We stayed in our 27ft fifth wheel and it was perfect. Plenty of room in our spot. The views were probably my favorite part of staying here. The property was clean, nice and very quiet. The location is great close to a few great hikes and scenery. It was close to Creede you could be to town in about 15 minutes which was perfect. I loved the phone booth lol. We had 2 dogs with us and it was fine for them! I would definitely recommend staying here. I have no doubt we will be back.

Camping at Dark Sky Paradise is always a wonderful experience! We return every year to enjoy the quiet and solitude. Sonny is a fantastic host and made sure we were able to locate the fire wood we requested and communicated with us whenever we had questions. I highly recommend this camp spot to enjoy the beautiful stars, gorgeous terrain and incredible views. Ridgeway is not far away and we always enjoy taking time to visit Orvis Hot Springs for a day. Do yourself a favor and make time to enjoy this unique place!
