The Ute Lodge was homesteaded in the 1930’s by Joe Fox who after leaving the military came west to settle in the White River valley. Joe was known for his friendliness, hospitality and wild stories. Today you might find much of the same. From Joe’s day to today it is a place where families come together to get away. The Ute Lodge is now owned by Karl and Mona Maser who celebrated 20 years of ownership summer of 2019! While there is some noise from the highway that runs near the property, it gears much towards agricultural travel, such as semi trucks headed to and from from the area. While we always will have handwashing water and a bottle of drinking water, we are in the process of developing, which REQUIRES that anyone who reserves is ALREADY equipped with sufficient drinking, any cooking water- and any necessary washing water for their overnight staying. There is a plug, small coffeemaker, and microwave which are within the structure. Some paper towels or napkins and a tissue box are provided. While much of the time, there are ample hand towels for some convenience and extra older sleeping bags, it is not our responsibility at this time to "provide linens". Trained pet may accompany a guest, and are not the responsibility in ANY WAY of the management. Parents or guardians are completely responsible for any children or guest that accompanies them. At this time, this structure is only for people who can walk up a 100 foot, small hill without any assistance that is not already accompanying them. What a great place to stay! Clean, pretty orchards, and with the basic amenities. Dirk even added a small microwave so I could heat my tea and breakfast in the morning. Comfy bed and the outdoor shower is cool. I didn't use it because it was such a short stay, but how fun!

Weekend Trip to Double D Orchards

Loved the cabin and the location was perfect! The bed was comfortable, with a good size fridge and lots out outlets too, so it had everything we needed. We were also able to bike to nearby wineries and walk through Dirk's orchards as well! The outdoor shower was amazing and such a nice treat during hot summer days. The fire pit was great too - I highly recommend staying here! Dirk was a fantastic and friendly host - than you so much!

We were lucky to have the entire place to ourselves. I have a feeling the popularity will boom with this property. The views are great, peaches are amazing, it’s centrally located and the hosts are top notch. The AC and ceiling fan were so welcome after 90* days as well. We brought our camper van and upgraded to this spot for the AC but I’m sure on cooler days, spot #1 would be all we need. Oh, and the peaches…..

Dirk's land was conveniently located, comfortable and beautiful, surrounded by peach trees. There was a view of mount Garfield. Wish we could have stayed another night but it was already booked, so plan ahead!

1 night at Double D Orchards

I was already looking forward to not having to set up a tent … but power? A fridge? AC 🤩😱🤩 After a 5 Hour Dr. in 100° and a full car - having a place to cool off was an awesome surprise. A nice 150 sq ft space with a comfy bed and bedding. What an easy stop. There also is plenty of fire wood and a fire pit with nice seating space and overall just a quiet and serene area to enjoy by ourselves. It was a great stay that I’d recommend anytime and looks like he has plans for a shower in the near future. There’s running water for dishes ( still just a porta potty.) But what really really set things apart? We happened to come in the summer months and on a heavy peach harvesting weekend. Dirk was so generous and guided us up to one of the Orchards he oversees to allow us to pick the BEST PEACHES IN THE COUNTRY! Truly … if you aren’t from the area and you’re unfamiliar with Palisade, peaches they are renowned for a reason 😉 100% value, amenities and generous hosts!!!

Dirk & Connie are AMAZING hosts! I had a perfect mini staycation. The location is just right outside of town (5 min drive); You can walk or bike to several wineries. I was welcomed with 4x 🍑 sitting on the refrigerator ❤️. ...little did I know many more peaches were to come. I need to give a shout out to Talbott Farms for the best peaches I have ever had! 🕊

We did a 2 day stay in cabin C8. We loved it! Very well built. AC was definitely a huge bonus for the summertime. Basecamp was very kind friendly with the nice pool, sandbox, outdoor games, perimeter walking trail, large grassy area & river access

All set up with linens, towels, soaps etc. clean and neat. Tiny kitchen. Don’t plan big dinners. There is a grill and propane. No inside table. Small sofa. Very nice loft sleeping area. Bed is very comfortable. Slept great! Bathroom is tiny but fine. No more than 2-3 people for sure. Campground is adorable! Looks like a Western town with all the different tiny homes. Nice outdoor fire pit for all to use. Definitely highly recommend.

We had an amazing time! Our stay was perfect, it fit every need that we had! Bed was super comfy. A/C was amazing. Had a great time using the fire pit and looking up at the stars. Location was perfect. Everything that we wanted to do and see was a maximum of 5 minutes away! Would absolutely stay here again. Dirk is awesome! Since our stay was during peach season, they would leave us peaches everyday, such a nice touch and so kind. It genuinely made our day! 10/10 would recommend.

Weekend Trip to Tongue Creek Ranch

We had a great stay in the ranch for a couple of nights, Dave & Barb were kind and thoughtful hosts. We (our dog included) enjoyed walking around the ranch and saying hello to the horses every morning. The temperatures were high when we stayed but the cabin had an AC that kept us cool when needed, which we especially appreciated. The cabin felt private but not remote, which was perfect for our needs.

The property was very well maintained. The cabin was exactly as described in the listing. The property was quiet and seemed private. Being on a real ranch with horses, a cow, donkeys, some goats and chickens was an added bonus. There are many red winged blackbirds and doves on the property. The location was perfect for going on hikes nearby.

Weekend Trip to Tongue Creek Ranch

This place is a hidden gem. I really enjoyed the quaint and cozy vibes. The wood stove functioned well and kept the place hot. The wifi was a pleasant surprise. We really enjoyed the friendly pupper dog. There was a potter poty , but no shower. As hiker's and backpackers we are okay with the rustic. If you stay here, you won't be disappointed.

2 nights at Cabin on the river at Welder Ranch

We loved the whole cabin experience. View from the cabin was incredible, the wood stove made me feel like I was in a movie, and the walks through the snow lined paths and roads surrounded by beautiful forest was amazing. Enjoyed cross country skiing, the snowmobile adventure provided by Welder Outfitting, and can't wait to come back in the summer.
