Beautiful property just off of 299. During the day you can hear cars, but it’s very quiet at night. No other campers were there during my stay, Shannon let me pick my spot. Site #3 on the end is more private and less rocky for tent camping.

Weekend Trip to Lost Coast
What a gem, hidden in the tiny hamlet of Petrolia! We stayed in the Garden Cabin which was a small cabin large enough only for a queen-sized bed, mini-fridge, and a couple of shelves for the tea kettle and some bowls. Very charming and perfect for a short stay especially when one has other activities to occupy the day. There is an outdoor shower and clawfoot bathtub with plenty of hot water, and an Adirondack loveseat with a propane fire (no wood fires allowed.)

Perfect little off grid campsite if you're looking to explore the less traveled! Wendy and Todd were so friendly and accommodating! As well as super knowledgeable about the area and local trails and trees!

Friendly host who checked in on me on arrival to ensure I had all I needed or if I needed help with setting up. (Solo female camper) the site was relaxing and just what I needed. It is on my list to go back to.

This camp site and land was amazing! Very beautiful and right in nature. If you want to be in the redwoods with the convenience of being close to town this is it. Also the hosts are absolutely amazing, super friendly and helpful!

We were the only ones there so Shannon allowed us to pick whatever site we like, and we ended up with the site 4. Can’t really beat the sound of the creek. Loved the oversized portapotty, it felt and seemed as clean as possible a portapotty could be. We got some glimpses of the stars which was pretty.

We were very fortunate to have the whole place to ourselves for 3 nights . Everything was very well looked after with fresh water and great clean toilet.
The camp itself is wonderful and I would be happy to return and to recommend others to visit a least once .

This was our favorite hipcamp yet. We had the property to ourselves in mid-September. Our dogs loved it and we did too. Communication with Shannon was fantastic and directions were clear. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. Clean toilet, trashcan and fresh water available. Even caught a couple little fish in the creek before we left. Wish we could have stayed more than one night but we'll return.

We enjoyed our two night tent camping at Bigfoot flats, we were the only campers there during our stay. Grounds were extremely clean as were the honey buckets. Great communication from Shannon. Property is gated and locked which prevents any unintended visitors driving through the CG. Great location, close to Willow Creek and a short drive to the coast.

What a nice and quiet spot to get some alone time with that someone special! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at overlook 1, and would recommend it to anyone looking for privacy and beauty. There are bears in the area, as evidenced by 7 giant piles of bear poop and scratches on a tree so bring protection. Other than that, the place was absolutely perfect! Nice view of the river too!!!

Amazing campsite! Communal portapotties and potable water station. Fire pit and picnic table at each site. No wifi but we had signal at the campsite.
VERY spacious campground and campsite, we could see but not hear our neighbors. We were able to park our car, set up a 10-person tent, park a <25ft RV at the campsite, and still had PLENTY of space.
The potable water is a bit of a walk but you'd already be half-way if you're already at the portapotty. The portapotty was clean and well-maintained by Shannon and campers were respectful.
The sky at night was amazing and full of stars! We had a harmless bat flying and swooping in and snacking on the moths attracted by the light from our campfire.
The campground is <10mins away from Willow Creek, ~1hr to Redwood National Park, ~1hr to Arcata, and ~2 to Jedediah State Park. The campground is parallel to the road but a drop down into a small ravine, you'll faintly hear passing cars and trucks. It became white background noise so it didn't bother me at all.
Shannon is great, super responsive and proactive. If we're ever back in the area, we would absolutely stay here again

The description of the space was spot on! A little windy in the afternoon, so setting up the tent was a good challenge. The ground is hard/compact so staking the tent can be a challenge. Plenty of rocks to help with that. Nice creek to cool off in. When night sky is clear, great star gazing!

Great hosts and a lovely campsite in a beautiful grove of Redwoods. Clean toilet and picnic benches nearby. You need to hike up a small trail through woods to the fire pit and BBQ . Great night sky viewing. Don’t sleep on the free range eggs. Just a note to take your own drinking water as noted in reservation.

Weekend Trip to Lost Coast
Dana and Dan have truly created a little slice of zen in Petrolia. Our stay in the cabin was idyllic and peaceful. We slept so soundly and comfortably in the cabin. Very comfortable bed and bedding! The beaches and landscape can only be described as EPIC. This was a perfrct place to sleep while exploring them. Sourdough boule and Jam is not to be missed— we ate every bit of it —and were so grateful for fruit and veg from the beautiful garden. Truly an off grid delight with all the creature comforts including hot water! This spot is truly special and intentional and we couldn’t be more grateful that Dana and Dan are willing to share it. It’s fueling our retirement dreams for sure. :)

Bigfoot Creek campsite was an absolute gem. I booked last minute looking for a place to set up camp during my motorcycle trip. Shannon was prompt to respond to all of my questions. The location is tucked away off on the side of highway 299 and is a small valley surrounded by trees and alongside a river. It was serene with minimal noise despite being next to the highway. The site has immaculate porta-potties with water trucked in by the owners. It's just five miles away from town and had 5 bars of Verizon cell service. There are several sites but all are spaced well enough apart to provide great privacy. I'd highly recommend stopping here.

Gorgeous, clean, primitive camping. We had no problem finding a soft place amidst the river cobbles to pitch a tent. The porta-potty was clean and pleasant. We slept well, to the sound of the creek, and occasional coyotes!
