My aunt and uncle bought the property in 1947 from its first European settler, Paolo Gabrielli, who immigrated in early 1914 from northern Italy with slips of his grapevine in the lining of his coat. (The grapevine still grows over the back deck.) What can you expect? Quiet, beauty, birdsong, ocean roar, widely spaced campsites (only 5 on the 5 acres set aside for camping). Free firewood, local tips on travel and where to hike or what to visit. Or total solitude. Bring your (most non-cattle-chasing breeds) dogs if you wish (males must be neutered). Starlink internet. Walk to the beach of our wild ocean along a no-shoulder country road. We have no visible neighbors, no ambient light or sound. The air is clean and clear and the water is potable from an artesian spring on the property. No electricity at the sites and no generators allowed. (Charge your electronics at the farmhouse.) We offer homemade soup, cobbler, fresh bread, morning coffee as extras; you can order with the booking. The Victorian village of Ferndale is three miles east, as is a beautifully maintained 110-acre town wilderness with hiking trails called Russ Park. A 150-year-old cemetery slopes down a hillside & is filled with 19th century charm and history. Shops and restaurants welcome visitors. There are several bars/a wine bar/and a historic saloon that's as old boy as it was in 1890. A music venue in a restored 19th century church has amazing acoustics and attracts international talent as a top-notch venue (sessions are filmed for PBS) midway between Portland and San Francisco. So, it's a mix of town and country, village and farm, wilderness and bewilderedness. Safe, safe, safe, meaning: you can leave your belongings in your site and when you come back... they're still there :) One caveat: please arrive before dark. There is no electricity in the campgrounds, and no generators are allowed. You will not be able to reach (or maybe even locate) your site without disturbing others. We had a fabulous experience at Wendy and John's. The campsite was perfect under a full moon. We really appreciated the sparkling clean bathroom and shower. The dinner was amazing- a 5 course meal that rivaled any fine dining restaurant we ever experienced! Wendy and John are fantastic hosts in every respect. We enjoyed celebrating the election results together 11/4/25. We look forward to returning again and again.

The property was easy to find and close to town. John met us as soon as we pulled in and walked us to our parking spot. We reserved dinner in advance and it was delicious!
Overall, beautiful spot, welcoming hosts, available but left us to our privacy. The other camping spots were spread out so it felt like our own place for the night.

Siena’s “camp” was a quiet and simple place to land. The bed in the camper was comfy. Her orchard was full of apples 🍏 and we woke to dove song.
Sienna greeted us upon arrival and was communicative via messaging before we got there.

This was a great site set amongst other, well-dispersed, sites. Delicious potable water available, hot showers and flush toilets - what more could you want? All sites are adjacent to a large open field, giving plenty of space to run around. John and Wendy are super friendly and accommodating while also giving plenty of privacy. This site is right next to the house, but we never saw or heard anything from there - only saw John while he was out taking care of the camp sites. Will be staying again, and highly recommend!

This is a place to stay, but not a resort by any means. The sites are off the beaten path just slightly which means it is a quiet, country atmosphere near a river and next to horses. It could be described as rustic. The outhouse is clean and earth friendly. Water is available at a spigot nearby and the host had filtered water waiting in the unit. The bed was quite comfortable. We were traveling fully self sufficient so this was a great place to land for a couple nights. The host checked in several times by text to make sure we were doing OK, which was quite nice.

Wendy & John have created a true gem of a Hipcamp experience! We were driving up the coast from San Fran and were able to make a last minute booking including the “desperado” dinner. Wow! Highly highly recommend for any group big or small. There were many other campers there but the amount of space made it feel private.

Amazing trailer site between an apple and cherry orchard and adjacent veggie garden, views of the woods, walking distance to Mad River fish hatchery swimming holes and a quick mtb ride to the Blue Lake / Hatchery Ridge trail system... Siena and her place are great, would love to visit again.

This was our 4th year at Wendy and John’s farm and I promise it never looses its magic! It’s the most beautiful, peaceful place!
John, Wendy and their dog Louie are the best hosts you could ask for!
The location is so close to the beach that you fall asleep and wake up to the sound of waves crashing. The birds will also serenade you in the morning and it’s nothing less than a fairytale land.
There is a hot shower and flushing toilets which make it that much more comfortable at the end of a long day exploring.
10/10 recommend! Kid and dog friendly.

A lovely place to camp. Lots of birds. No airplanes. No traffic. Very quiet, can hear the waves crash in the distance. Country road into town, we rode it and felt safe. We will definitely be back. Creekside was great for our toddler to explore and swing. Dog was happy too!

Weekend Trip to Radio Ranch Camp
At this location we slept in a tent with a foam mattress setup the same as your bedroom. The accommodations could not have replicated a hotel room any better. You could tell that the hosts put a lot of planning into detail
They even put a packet containing toiletries and bug repellent wrist bands. Showering outside was fun and did not lack hot water. The "kitchen" we did not use but checked it out and found it to be well stocked. The site was clean and I would not hesitate to stay there again.
