We operate ala carte with our accommodations so we can customize your experience to meet your needs. You can choose one or more of the following:
GROUP CAMPGROUND: This one-acre fenced in area allows for guests (Max 30) to bring their dogs and pitch tents in a protected area with an expansive view. Camp cooking has never been easier, as the community kitchen is well equipped with 2 full-sized refrigerators, gas stove/oven, pots and pans, dishware, silverware, triple sink, and two outdoor barbeques. The cooks will especially appreciate our unique outdoor “dishwashing station” for each individual (even kids!) to efficiently wash their own dishes instead of using throw-away plastic for each meal. Our bathhouse has two private toilets, two private showers with hot water and a double sink. Bring your own towels and toiletries.
ADDITIONAL LODGING & AMENTITIES:
YURT: A 20’ yurt (sleeps 4) is equipped with a full bed and queen sofa for members of your camping group that would like greater comfort. Limited electricity is available.
BUNK HOUSE: This bunk house has 3 twin bunkbeds (sleeps 6) with a 12x14 covered deck. Limited electricity is available.
RV SITES: Ranging from no services to full service.

The campground was well kept, and communication was great. I had to do a late check-in, and without me having to reach out they automatically sent me a text when the time got closer to late check in. When I needed the bathroom code and wi-fi, and called the number provided and the host picked up right away and texted me the information. Felt very seamless.

This is a great place to stay! Extremely clean bathrooms and showers. Grounds are well kept. Perfect swimming pool to cool off and lots of extras for kids to do. Great common kitchen / dining area and rec room. Cute store with anything you forgot. We came in our Minnie Winnie and stayed in RV 5. Small spot but everything we needed and close to facilities. They have really cool glamping tents and lots of tent spots too. Looking forward to coming back with our family.

Mary from Personal Creekside Camping was a gracious, kind, and informative host at our recent Hip Camp stay. Ideally located next to a relaxing creek loaded with blackberries, it was spacious and shaded. Her camp is ideally situated near Penn Valley and about 20 minutes from Grass Valley. The sky is dazzling with stars! Mary shared her experiences and recommended local spots to check out. Mountain Ranch Winery is a mere ten minute drive and if you don’t stop by to taste and engage with Bob, well you’ll miss out on a local gem and enlightened conversation. Be sure to check them out. The valley and surrounding area is full of friendly people, nature, culture, and great food. You won’t be disappointed with Mary and her property.

Because we also stayed at the lodge we didn’t use the kitchen at the campground, but it was well-stocked. Bathrooms were a nice bonus. Wood chip base made for flat tent setup. Excellent hosts! Attending promptly to our family.

Really great campground with plenty of space to spread out. The whole area is fenced in, so our dog could roam freely without a leash. Beautiful surroundings. Our family loved camping at Mary's property, indeed my son said this was the best camping ever. Mary and her son are the best and also the nicest!
The spot is private, located in a lovely neighborhood kids can bike around safely, it has a beautiful view and the relaxing sound of the water running it's course on the creek.
We were able to connect travel trailer to water hose and electricity, under the shade of tall trees. There was a portable potty, trampoline, firepit, volleyball court, playground, picnic tables, and chairs, all for our use! Farm fresh eggs and bundles of wood were just a great addition!
Downtown Grass Valley is close by (driving distance), Yuba river too, and pump track park only five minutes away. I would highly recommend Mary's Land!

Mark was incredibly nice and thoughtful—his instructions were clear and made everything easy. Oregon Creek is just a drive away and was perfect for cooling off and relaxing. We just spent our second visit at Mary's. It's such a peaceful setting right on a little creek on the border of the property. Mary is helpful and welcomed us both times. She provided information about the area and made sure we had everything we needed. The property is beautiful, private and quiet. There are areas to walk around and close hiking trails. We'll def be back if she'll have us.

Where to go
Placerville and El Dorado National Forest
Placerville camping options include RV parks near town, plus more than 50 campsites in the Eldorado National Forest. For river rafting and camping, head to the American River and Coloma, where gold was first discovered in California, or try the Sly Park Recreation Area, a hub for family fishing and water recreation thanks to group campsites. Other lakeside and riverside options include Valley Reservoir, Ice House Reservoir, Bear River Reservoir, Loon Lake, Cosumnes River, and the Rubicon River. Or head into the Desolation Wilderness for solitude, adventure, and backcountry camping.
Lake Tahoe and Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest
Just over an hour northeast of Placerville, several scenic campgrounds can be found around South Lake Tahoe, at Emerald Bay State Park, D.L. Bliss State Park, and Fallen Leaf Lake. Head to the north and western lakeshores to camp in the Tahoe State Recreation Area, William Kent Campground, Kaspian Campground, and Lake Forest Campground. South of Lake Tahoe, several scenic campgrounds sit near Hope Valley and around the Kirkwood area.
Sacramento and Jackson Region
Near Sacramento, campers can stay by the water at Folsom Lake and Lake Natoma, or further south near the Sacramento River at Sandy Beach Regional Park and Brannan Island State Recreation Area. Near Jackson, Lake Amador and Pardee Recreation Area offer camping and fishing, while Camanche Lake and New Hogan Lake are known for camping and watersports. Several RV parks can be found nearby, while the Auburn State Recreation Area is a good spot for primitive camping.
When to go
Summer is the most popular time for outdoor adventures and camping around Placerville, especially at the many area rivers and lakes. The fishing season runs from April to November, with trout fishing best in spring, and bass in summer. Look for spring wildflowers, or visit Placerville and nearby Apple Hill in fall for leaf peeping and apple picking. Winter snow and weather can affect access and availability of activities.
