This house is now 1 of 2 vacation rentals on the property. You will definitely notice the home's unique architecture as soon as you walk in. You will not find another home like this nor the massive 50 ft+ rock wall that provides cover to back side of the house. In 2016, after more than 50+ years operating as a working cattle ranch (Brookins Ranch) and a viewing attraction for Adelaida Wine Trail travelers, the property was unfortunately shut down and put up for sale.As a born and raised local, I had to purchase the property with the hopes of restoring it to its greatest and to allow others to enjoy what it has to offer. Since March 2017, my family and I have been working hard on the restoration - attempting to keep a lot of it's uniqueness while integrating modern technologies that will help expand the property's life. As such, we welcome you to come enjoy the experience as we continue to bring this property back to life!

The property is nestled in a very quiet area of Atascadero, surrounded by hundreds of oak trees and natural beauty. The five-acre property features rolling hills filled with oak, bay laurel, and redwood trees, and is frequently visited by tree squirrels, deer, and a variety of birds that live throughout the land. There are two occupied homes on the property, along with Max the cat, chickens, and a sweet Labrador named Maverick. The driveway is accessible by car, truck, and camper van (such as a Westfalia or similar), and tent campers are also welcome. However, the property is not easily accessible for very large trailers over 36 feet in length. The neighborhood is extremely quiet. Water, Wi-Fi, and power are available, but there is no sewer cleanout. Downtown Atascadero offers several great dining and drink options, and the city center is only three miles away. The best forest glamping sites near Oceano guide

Where to go

Santa Barbara County

Head south from Oceano and you'll quickly reach Santa Barbara County, known for its Spanish-style mission architecture and tasty, locally produced wine. Highlights include the upscale coastal city of Santa Barbara and the Danish-inspired community of Solvang.

Coastal Ventura County

In the same way that Oceano is known for its dunes, Ventura County is known for its beach camping. Both Rincon Parkway Beach and Emma Wood State Beach offer RV camping, while Faria Beach Park and Hobson Beach Park have spaces for both tents and RVs.

San Luis Obispo County

While there’s lots to do in the counties south of Oceano, there’s also plenty right in San Luis Obispo County. Drive up the coast to take in seaside views and visit beaches, or head up to the Paso Robles area to check out local wineries or soak in thermal hot springs.

When to go

Oceano is very much a summertime destination, so expect crowds during the months of June through August. September after Labor Day weekend is a great alternative, offering the hottest temperatures of the year without the summer vacation crowds. Spring is also pleasant, but can get windy. The months of December through April are great for whale watchers, as this is the season during which gray whales head out on their annual migration.
