Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

Bright Bear Camp is a private two-acre property bordering Tahoe National Forest.  We are located at 4300' elevation down a mostly dirt road along the beautiful Bear River and Bear Valley. This is a very peaceful spot among the trees with a small meadow and creek on the property.

As our name suggests, bears are occasionally in the area so keep an eye out. You may also see the spotted owls that live nearby - listen closely for their calls (https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Spotted_Owl/overview).

There is much to explore in the area and more with only a short drive to the South Yuba River, Emerald Pools, Lake Spaulding, Donner Pass, Donner Lake, and Truckee.

Airstream in the Forest

This contemporary airstream is super cute and fully loaded. It is plugged in and connected to water. It is nestled in the forest on 20 acres along with a house and 2 furnished bell tent clamping sites. It has access to an outdoor shower and hot tub and laundry room. There is a year round creek that runs though the property and plenty of privacy.

You've heard of glamping and dispersed camping, but what about "Back-glamping"? Come visit our gorgeous 17 acre private property, nestled in and above the Spanish Creek area of Plumas National Forest, mere minutes from the quaint, yet bustling mountain town of Quincy, CA, and experience a unique convergence of camping, hiking, backpacking and bushcrafting for an unforgettable custom outdoor adventure. 

Surrounded by hundreds of acres of the Mt. Hough / South Park Trail System's beautifully maintained hiking, biking, equestrian and moto trails, this private camping experience is sure to be a change from the norm. 

Area attractions within walking distance of the property include hiking, mountain biking, dirt biking/ATV trails, swimming, tubing, horse-back riding, gold panning, geocaching and more, not to mention the variety of fun and delicious offerings in town itself. 

You can hike your own gear up the hill, or, better yet, I can deliver your gear, firewood and potable water directly to your remote and private site via ATV,  so all you have to do is enjoy the leisurely hike in from the national forest trail you like best. We will do all the heavy work, so you can just enjoy the experience, including spectacular views from the top of our ridge. 

Also, volunteers helping us with fire recovery and prevention work for the day can always stay for free that night.

The Meadow

Learn more about this land:We are located near Doyle, CA. There is a view of the mountains and a pond to swim and just cool off. We are also about 2 miles away from the fortsage ohv staging area and a lot of hiking trails.

Camp Shady Meadow

There are so many fun activities available in the nearby Blairsden/Graeagle area (golfing, biking, hiking, fishing, autumn foliage...just to name a few).

We have added two beautiful glamping tents to our already unique RV, travel trailer, and tent sites.

The glamping tents are complete with carpet, a comfortable queen size mattress, luxurious linens, two homemade benches, and two camping chairs to enjoy a cool evening campfire with a view of the mountains.  Please note:  these glamping tents are for adults only; no children or pets.  Thank you for understanding!

Community fire pit.  Make sure to check local and site regulations prior to use. 

Spot 13 a little tight for our trailer, but we were let in to camp with a full site on Labor Day weekend. 

Our Escape

Updated 9/2022.  There is now only one spot available at our property to reserve as we seem to leave our trailer up there for most of the summer.   The good news is you will have the place all to yourselves unless we happen to be there which is not very often and we will let you know if we overlap.  This spot has a 30 amp RV plug and a sewer connection.  There is no water or trash service so please bring your own water and practice pack in/pack out practices.   This is a very quiet spot but does have a few neighbors within earshot so if you are planning on a party spot or having loud music this is not the spot for you.  There is a large smoker/BBQ that is not maintained but is available for your use if you want, we have used it several times and it works great.  There is also a firepit to use when fire season permits.  We are only 4 miles from Graeagle, which is a great little town to explore and eat some ice cream in the park.  There are many great lakes to explore in the immediate area including Lake Davis, Gold Lake, Upper Salmon Lake, and of course upper and lower sardine which are my favorites.

Shared Smoker,BBQ.  This is a use at your own risk it is not maintained or cleaned but it is a fully functional smoker.  You supply the fuel and wood chips.
