The patriarch of the family, whose family had moved here from Sweden, had a great love of the forest and trains. The property was one of the first certified tree farms in California with the goal of nurturing a healthy forest. In the 1960’s, a mile of railroad tracks was laid and the whistle of a small, steam engine train could be heard throughout the community. Local residents and kids were treated to free train rides and special events for many years. There is a natural spring with a small creek that supplies the ponds with fresh water year around. There is also a small canyon on the property with a larger stream called Mud Creek. The land is rich in Indian history and there a artifacts and other signs on the Indians presence. The Cohasset area is relatively unknown. 15 miles from our property is Deer Creek and the Lasson National Forest is about a 2 hour drive north. While staying with us you can pitch your tent on our private 500 acres. We have 2 primitive camping spots on our property. Each spot has a picnic table and fire pit. There is a flush toilet shared for both camp sites. * During freezing weather the toilets may be closed so they don’t freeze! Please check before booking *The spots are spread out to ensure privacy. Our property is surrounded by the forest and is loaded with deer, squirrels, turkeys and other forest animals. We have numerous walking trails, a fresh water pond for fishing and swimming. Please notify us if you have an RV. Site 1 is best for RV's. Site 2 can accommodate smaller RV's.

Turner Beach At Lake Almanor is a privately owned vacant lakefront lot. The property is wide enough to accommodate 3 RV's/camp trailers end to end, ensuring no blocked views of the lake. You will be camping along Lake Almanor's East Shore on your own private campground instead of "combat camping" in the popular public campgrounds nearby. Additionally, the property can accommodate numerous smaller vans and tents. We have 2 mooring buoys and a large dock. (Dock may no longer be in the water after September) There is a sani-hut potty which is maintained/cleaned weekly. The property is located between the lake and the highway, so there will be road noise. Some guests have been bothered by the traffic and some have not. We have 2 SUP boards, 3 kayaks, and a canoe as well as a 5-person pedal boat that can be borrowed while renting our beach. Doing so will be at your own risk and you are required to wear personal floatation devices (lifejackets). Lifejackets are not provided, so you will need to bring your own. We ask that you please respect our toys and take care not to damage them or lose any parts/pieces. ALL RENTERS MUST TAKE THEIR OWN TRASH WITH THEM WHEN THEY DEPART No Fireworks, No firearms, No drugs allowed. Dogs are allowed and we do have a 10 x 10 x 6 kennel onsite. Campers are responsible for minding their pet's safety, politeness, and picking up their poo-poo's. Marshmallow roasting/cooking fires must be kept small and are only allowed in the provided fire ring. There is some small firewood onsite, and if you need more you can purchase nearby at Almanor Landscape Supply or bring your own. The early mornings are tranquil, and the sunsets are STUNNING! The Lake Concow/Konkow Campground is a wilderness sanctuary and houses many variety of rare and endangered plants, animals, and insects. Please be aware of and give respectful space to all of the residents of the park. The list of year round residents may include poison oak, thorny berry vines, mosquitoes, ticks, spiders, deer, eagles, osprey, owls, squirrels, skunks, foxes, bears, mountain lions, snakes, bats, and more. Please be responsible for personal camp supplies and trash. The Campground is a Pack In/Pack Out location and garbage cans are supplied near the office house near the entrance. Good hiking shoes, protective clothing, and hats are recommended. All Campground faucets supply delicious, potable water tested regularly. The modern listings spell the name Concow, Ancestors spelled it Konkow. Both are correct, though may give different search results. There is plenty of room for parking large vehicles and for turning around. TOW VEHICLES MUST STAY THE DURATION OF THE CAMPING VISIT. You reach our four acre property after a stunning drive along a scenic highway. In the winter and spring everything is blanketed in green that gives way to wildflowers and golden hills in the summer. We are located two miles from the Lake Oroville Lime Saddle launch ramp where you can find spots to swim or launch your boat for a fun day at the lake. Hiking trails and a variety of outdoor activities are available nearby. Table Mountain State recreation area, a great place to view wildflowers and waterfalls in the spring, is five miles away. Take a drive up highway 70 along the Scenic Feather River and view the lake as well as the majesty of the canyon. We are just 15 - 20 minutes from towns in three directions so restaurants, museums and shopping are all within an easy drive. At the top of our property you will find a grass volleyball court, and a batting cage to keep you busy while you are at your campsite. Other outdoor games are also available. The views of the valley at sunset are spectacular. The lower portion of our property is home to a seasonal creek that supports wild blackberry bushes as well as other wild plants and flowers. The property is home to numerous trees as well. The blackberries are usually ripe for a couple of weeks from late June to early July and are delicious. The wild grapes usually ripen in September. Obviously I can't control when the fruit ripens, but you are welcome to help yourself if it is ripe when you are visiting. We have 4 large sites with full hook ups as well as space for smaller trailers if you are traveling as a group and need some extra space. The blackberries have thorns. The area is rural so naturally we have wildlife, including bears, bobcats, mountain lions, deer and rattlesnakes. While we rarely see any of our furry friends you should be aware that they do wander through from time to time. We also have dogs. They have collars to keep them away from your space, but if you wander the property be aware they do too. We are located on the corner of Pentz / Highway 70. They are not busy roads, particularly in the evening, but they do have a fair amount of traffic in the daytime. Overall the area is very quiet and peaceful. Please help us respect our neighbors by abiding by quiet hours.

Weekend Trip to Maple Creek Ranch

My family and I had the best time camping at Maple Creek Ranch. We stayed at Site 2, which was privately nestled among the trees—clean, flat, and perfectly peaceful. The site included a deep firepit and a sturdy picnic table, making it easy to relax and cook meals together. The amenities were fantastic. There was a spotless outhouse just about a hundred feet away (with a flushing toilet!), and a hot shower next to the pond. The pond itself was stocked with bluegill and bass, and my family caught their first-ever fish there—an unforgettable memory! But the highlight of our stay was Ron, the host. He’s an absolute gem—so kind, genuine, and full of great stories. He brought us firewood and water and when my car battery died on our last day, he didn’t hesitate to drive over with his truck and give me a jump. His hospitality truly made our trip special. We’ll absolutely be coming back and can’t recommend Maple Creek Ranch enough to anyone visiting the Cohasset/Chico area!

Weekend Trip to Maple Creek Ranch

Maple Creek was awesome! Very peaceful and Ron was super helpful and friendly. Despite the fact that there was an event taking place on the property the same weekend, I felt like I had the whole place to myself. The flush toilet is also a gem! I will definitely be staying at Maple Creek again.

Weekend Trip to Mill Creek Resort

Mill Creek Resort is magical! This is the perfect location for exploring Lassen National Park or just being. The grounds are lovely and Mill Creek runs along the edge of the property. I stayed in an rv spot and those sites are close together, but I didn’t mind and I appreciated the convenience of having water, power and sewer hook ups. There was a small creek running behind the rvs, which is nice sound to fall asleep to. Nice people there and a really great vibe. I will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Bigfoot Lodging Vacation Rentals

BigFoot Lodging campground is a beautiful little hidden gem. With healthy tall pinetrees there is shade and beauty at each site. Sites are wide with plenty of room for a tent if someone in your crew doesn't want to sleep in the RV (our daughter!). Picnic table at each site. Fire pits, although there are no grates over the fire pits in case you wanted to cook that way. GORGEOUS little waterfall 5 min walk from the camping sites. Helpful hosts. Small store with all those little things you forgot. Firewood available for $10 per bundle, cheaper than the convenience store or the dollar store in Shingletown. It's just a really pretty little campground that we will definitely be returning to!

I can’t say enough good things about this campsite. Privacy, space, views, cleanliness, a responsive and kind host…it really checks all the boxes. Our family can’t wait to book this spot again. The only downside might be the noise from the road, we are easy going and it didn’t phase us but if you’re someone who can’t handle a little road noise then this would probably bug you, to us it was well worth the incredible benefits the site provided. 10 out of 10 for sure!

VERY helpful and accommodating. Kept the office open late for our arrival and spent time directing us in the dark and giving us loads of information in the morning about RVs. Their espresso was delicious and they had several milk choices to make our morning travels tasty. THANK YOU! Would highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Maple Creek Ranch

Maple Creek Ranch is so magical. The pond and surrounding area have everything you could want for a relaxing family vacay -- the outdoor kitchen and flush toilet and hot shower, the sandy little beach and every kind of boat to paddle around in, and the lovely forest shade and breezes keeping it comfortable at the ranch even when the weather is absolutely broiling just down the hill in Chico. The surrounding areas burned in a fire recently, but nature is already rebounding, and we enjoyed hiking through the burned areas to see the baby trees starting to re-green the landscape.
