We are so delighted to share this spot with you. This is a shared campground with 3 separate spots that are relatively private.
Host will NOT be there when you arrive unless prior arrangement made. This campground is yours to enjoy. The expectation is 'leave it better than before so the next guests may enjoy!
This is camping. BRING YOUR OWN GEAR. Put your own linens and bedding on top of what is already on bed. I can provide linens and bedding for an extra $25 for glamping spots. Beds have pillows on them.
There is wildlife. This includes bears and mountain lions in the area. You will not see either but good to be aware they exist.
This is a safe 'neighborhood'. We do not have problems with thievery. However, always keep your valuables safe IN YOUR CAR.
There is no Power. No WiFi. Cell phone coverage not guaranteed. Depends on your carrier. DOWNLOAD DIRECTIONS AND INFO BEFORE ARRIVING TO SITE.
There is Poison Oak. Stay in the designated areas. If you are susceptible, bring and wash with Tecnu. Or use dish soap and wash. Poison oak is an oil. Most importantly: Don't Touch.
No Fires allowed during Summer months. Be super careful. No candles. Smoke in fire pit area. Grass is a tinderbox. 1 spark can ignite all. There is a hose connected to kitchen.
There is a Pet Fee stay. 1 pet per site allowed unless prior arrangement made. You are responsible to clean up after your pet and to make sure pet is safe and respectful to neighbors. This means you DO NOT leave your pet unattended, and is leashed at all times. If your pet is barking continuously, we ask that you leave. It is not respectful for all other neighbors.
Please bring your own bed for your dogs and clean up after a shedding dog if you are indoors.
We ask that guests clean up your camping spot upon departure to 'make the place better than before' for the next guests.
Butterfly Landing is a sweet landing spot! Birds, butterflies and small wildlife love this spot. The habitat includes many native species of plant life. A pretty knoll that is on the top of a 40 acre property. Views of vineyards, redwood trees, valley floor, and expansive sky. Private, Quiet and beautiful.
A central sunny meadow ties together 3 distinct private areas with a communal kitchen, bath-house, picnic-table sitting area and parking on the side. There is 1 outhouse that has a mailbox system to ensure privacy. (Please read manual on picnic table for instructions)
Kitchen. 2 burner propane stove, and sink with running water (cold). (Good for drinking. Pressure is low) There is basic cooking and dishware. Cleaning supplies. A Trash and Recycle Bin. And a Compost bucket where all food scraps should be disposed of and then covered with wood-chips. Kitchen should stay clean at all times. Please put dishes away in the tote to keep clean and critter free.
Bath-house. Shower with hot water.
1 shared Outhouse. Please use the path that goes to the outhouse (unless you are in the Greenroom) and make sure you put the mailbox red flag up so that others know it is occupied. ((Then don't forget to put it back down!!)
Common sitting area. There are 2 picnic tables, Lots of umbrellas that can be moved wherever, a fire pit/table and lots of seating.
Parking. There are room for 3 vehicles. Parking is to be in designated parking area please.
Sunny meadow and forest shade make this a lovely landing spot to relax and enjoy nature, and a great opportunity to turn off those cell phones!!
Butterfly Landing is about 1/2 mile from HWY 128 that runs through Anderson Valley. This location is the perfect location for it all. Wine tasting in the Valley, Navarro River swimming during the summer months, and the Mendocino coast is nearby.
This is an Honor system camping spot. We ask that you leave your spot 'better than before', as in 'Leaver no Trace'. I rely on everyone to do their part in the communal kitchen to keep clean and free of critters.
SUPER IMPORTANT to put all food scraps in the compost bin. NO food anything in the trash. This is how the bears show up. Please do your part.

The campground offers fishing, kayaking, and boating right from Camp. A car or boat is required to get to Clear Lake. For lake fishing, Redbud Park, Highlands Park and Austin Park are all within a ten minute drive from Camp. Austin Park also has a playground and swimming beach.

Kira’s Butterfly Camp is a great place for campers to leave urban and suburban stress behind by relaxing in a beautiful natural setting. We especially liked glamping in the large tent. Her place has resources that make it a comfortable intro to camping in nature for those not used to doing so.

Lovely Rustic bohemian camp site. We rented all three spots with friends and had a great time together. Things to know: the night sky is amazing, there is a simple outdoor shared kitchen, bathroom is private but without door (it didn’t smell but no door was a surprise to our friends), while there is plenty of seating some of the options have seen better days, we heard coyotes and saw birds and butterflies. We live an hour away and would love to come back to stay again.

Rick’s camp site was incredible, can’t recommend this spot enough. Within easy reach of a creek, river, and ocean. Walking distance from Gualala but still feels serene and remote. Plenty of amenities and a beautiful forest to explore, plus the tent was cozy and comfortable!

I enjoyed the bell tent. It was very clean and cute in the interior. I loved the land and playing at the lake. It was incredibly peaceful. I’ll definitely be back! It was hot so enjoyable to spend time at the lake mostly. The staff was friendly, hospitable and welcoming.

We had a great experience in the yurt. Kira's land provided us with a wonderful cost-effective way to stay in Anderson Valley and really enjoy its natural beauty. Was great to get the camping experience, but also really nice to be able to comfortably make coffee in the kitchen and use the compost toilet when needed. There were no other campers on the couple weekdays we stayed there so we had the whole place to ourselves - so peaceful!

My family and I enjoyed our three night stay at the Bluebell tent. It was nice to sleep in a made tent with an actual bed. As a parent I appreciate a good hot shower and an accessible kitchen. Was a close place to the Navarro river for a quick dip or a stroll through the Red Woods.

Butterfly landing is a gorgeous spot to stay! It's quiet and it looks like the tent spot has a gorgeous view of the vineyards. My friend and I stayed in the Bluebell Glamping Tent and it was awesome. The bed is comfortable and there is a ton of space inside, along with a deck that is perfect for a spot of stargazing. One other spot was occupied while we were there, but there's plenty of space for everyone, and I very much enjoyed making friends with our fellow HipCampers.
The kitchen house and other common areas are a great size and well maintained, and plenty of places to sit and relax. We loved the convenience of running water in the kitchen house as well. The outdoor composting toilet is very well maintained and cleaned.
The only thing I will note, and this is noted by Kira the host as well, but there is a lot of poison oak all around the property. It's obvious that Kira has done her best to clear it from the common areas, but if you don't know what it looks like already, be sure to learn ahead of staying here so that you don't have an unpleasant surprise!
We loved this space and I would happily stay here again!

One of the best glamping experiences we've ever had! We stayed at a luxe tent with a real bed, so clean and cozy.
The campground is huge, with trails to hike or bike, and a reservoir for kayaking, swimming or fishing. And it was also very convenient that they have a community kitchen with bbq grills. There were also hot showers, and water and soap by every bathroom.
The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, we really enjoyed chatting with folks while making s'mores in the evenings!
We were also super lucky to be there around the time when their friend, an astrophotographer Mich, had a telescope setup up the hill, telling campers about stars, astrophotography and showing us galaxies at night. That was so cool! We saw a huge meteor that day!
Highly recommend this place for stargazing, they even plan a special event in August for Perseid meteor shower!
