We enjoyed the quiet camp ground as we were the only campers there. Nice to have water and sewer hook ups and flush toilets. Could use a little maintenance and cleaning. The location is good for the parks. Our 27 ft trailer worked ok in the space. It’s a camp ground no lodge.

We loved our time here. I recommend one of the group sites if you’ll be tent camping. More room for activities and some of them come with a covered area over the provided table. The bathrooms were clean and the sinks near the camping area was a nice plus!

This campground is in an amazing spot on your way down into Kings Canyon. It’s right off of the road near a “caution ice cream ahead” sign.
We stayed in our RV and didn’t use any bathrooms, sinks or anything like that so I can’t speak to those, but it did the job, which was provided us somewhat close campsite to the Roads End lot & hiking area; I highly recommend the Mist Trail btw.
Also, I would recommend the campsites that are across the street (same campground), I think it was sites 6-9. We walked over to check out the river, but didn’t want to get into anyone else’s campsite. Site 5 isn’t my favorite as it is right next to the road & I woke up to cars driving by.
Only drawback were the trash cans. They weren’t animal/bear safe, and there was trash on the ground surrounding the trash cans, which we chalked up to animals in the area.
I would recommend & stay again. Also, I appreciated the Wi-Fi in an area that has no cell signal.

We had such a wonderful stay! This camping spot is perfect for couples — peaceful, private, and surrounded by water hook-up from all around the site. We loved being able to relax in our tent, enjoying the scenery. Toilets are nearby and made the stay even more comfortable. It would’ve been nice if there's shower rooms, but honestly, we’re not complaining — everything else was fantastic. We’ll definitely be back!

We had a great experience at Kings Canyon RV Resort! The instructions were clear, and the area was absolutely beautiful. The location was perfect, and we loved seeing the wildlife that came right up to our camper—it made the trip even more special. If we’re ever in the area again, we’ll definitely be back!

Had the most amazing time! Close to the bathroom which was a great surprise as it looks like a port-a potty but is a clean flushable toilet. Site 9 is quiet and private and has an easy access to the River. The water was cool and refreshing after some long days hiking. Definitely a hidden gem and one I’ll be returning to.

Great little quiet campsite at the top of King’s Canyon. The host was friendly and informative. You can buy drinks, coffee, and ice cream at the stand there as well as gas which is very limited in the 2 parks.. Bathrooms were clean and sites had picnic tables and fire pits. I would definitely use this site again.

Everything about this spot is perfect if you love peace and quiet. This was our second trip here and the host had added more bathrooms and sinks to clean up your kitchen kits. I cannot recommend this spot more. If you have a hankering for some ice cream this place has it! Gas, wood, and ice available at this spot too 🏕️ it also has a private river spot to relax and cool off.

Where to go
Around Bishop
You’ll find a range of RV parks and resorts with full hookup sites, glamper cabins, and on-site cafes that let you enjoy the outdoors with all the comforts of home. Check out Keough Hot Springs, with year-round camping and rustic tent cabins near the natural hot springs pool. Anglers head to trout fishing havens along Bishop Creek and Lake Sabrina, many within a short distance of campgrounds.
Inyo National Forest
Some of the wildest camping spots near Bishop are tucked away in the Inyo National Forest. Head west to North Lake Campground perched within a rugged granite landscape. (Sorry RVers, this one is for tents only.) You’ll wake up to fresh mountain air and excellent views of Table Mountain from Four Jeffrey Campground.
Big Pine Canyon
There are plenty of RV and tent-only sites among several campgrounds situated along Big Pine Creek, which is accessed up a windy mountain road from the namesake town. Day hikers and backpackers can head into the backcountry for a rigorous yet stunningly scenic uphill trek to Temple Crag and the Palisade Glacier, passing up to seven alpine lakes en route.
Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest
Craggy mountains tower amid the world’s oldest trees: the bristlecone pines. A visit to both Schulman Grove and Patriarch Grove is recommended, as both are popular for photography.
Lone Pine
To the west of this neighboring town lie the Alabama Hills and Mt. Whitney trailhead, from which prepared hikers can summit the highest peak in the contiguous U.S. (14,505 feet). But drive east of Highway 395 and you’ll enter Death Valley National Park, with an elevation below sea level.
When to go
Owing to the harsh mountain winters, campsites are typically available spring through fall, but cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter hikes abound, especially delightful with natural hot springs to warm up in. Summer weather makes for excellent hiking conditions and spring flowers bloom late in the high country, around mid-July. Vivid autumn foliage draws visitors in the off-season. Get an early start if you plan to visit the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, best photographed in the early morning light.
Know before you go
- The White Mountain Public Lands Information Center in downtown Bishop is open all year, providing maps and information for the region.
- Many Inyo campgrounds are first-come, first-served, so be sure to get an early start.
- If you're traveling in the spring or early summer, don't forget to pack some bug spray—the mosquitoes have a taste for campers.
- Wilderness permits are required for overnight trips into the John Muir Wilderness. Permits are issued at Inyo National Forest visitor centers.
- Look out for summer thunderstorms if you plan to hike at high elevations.
