The Sky Ranch is adjacent to hundreds of square miles of forest. The famous Pacific Crest Trail, which stretches 2,663 miles from Canada to Mexico, passes just east of us.
This land is a perfect retreat — whether you’re escaping the city or taking a break from a PCT trek. Even on big holiday weekends, you'll be completely isolated from traffic and crowds.
In the Summer, Big Bear Valley offers countless hiking trails, boating and fishing in the lake, mountain and road biking, horseback riding, golf, ziplining, the zoo, and many other outdoor activities. In Winter, there's skiing/boarding, snowshoeing, sledding, and more.
For kids, there's a "fort," swings, and a huge sandbox in a boat. They're also welcome to help feed our chickens. That's always a big hit! And we have a telescope for stargazing.

The nearest stores and restaurants are within five minutes by car or bus. The center of Big Bear Lake is 10 to 20 minutes away, and offer scores of restaurants, boutiques, and galleries.

11,500-foot Mount San Gorgonio, named by Spanish missionaries in the early 17th century, is at the center of the first designated wilderness area in America. Also known as "Old Greyback," San Gorgonio and the 11 surrounding peaks over 10,000 feet are home to an extremely rare herd of bighorn sheep.
The headwaters of the Santa Ana and Mojave rivers offer premier wild trout streams such as Bear Creek, accessible only by foot.
Hundreds of miles of unpaved National Forest roads offer every type of off-road experience -- ranging from an easy drive to Pioneertown, to the most radical 4WD trails imaginable (11 Difficults, six Most Difficults). The Cabin is right in the middle of the major routes.
After a day here, you may find it hard to believe that you're just 100 miles (and perhaps a century) away from Downtown Los Angeles.

Useful Notes:
Dogs are always welcome, and a spacious dog corral is available. We do ask guests to pay an added fee of $5 per pup per day.
Propane stoves are OK, and we have a natural-gas BBQ grill available for use. Outdoor wood fires and/or lighter fluid are never allowed.
There is easy parking for any number of cars. RVs and trailers are no problem either. Total charges will depend of the number of guests and vehicles.
Cell phones on Verizon and Sprint will have coverage. The AT&T and T-Mobile networks still do not cover this area, however the wifi near our home enables calls/texts on most phones.
The public bus stop is a short walk. Surprisingly, it is possible to take public transit from any train station in SoCal all the way to our bus stop (and vice
versa). Cheaper than driving, and no worries about weather. Ask us for details.
If you're bringing kids, let us know the ages. You may get a discount. :)
For equestrians, we have a two-acre horse corral, plus hay barn and covered stall.

most beautiful time here:) it's so relaxing to be so in the elements. note that it's secluded, but not entirely remote (around 10-15 mins inward from the main road), which was actually great for us because 1, we were in a passenger car, and 2, we forgot some key things like firewood etc and it was easy to be back and forth.
windy is extremely responsive if you have any questions and makes the whole experience extremely comfortable!!! cannot recommend this place more, only wish i was able to stay for longer.

Their site was a perfect spot for us to start and end our days. They provided everything we needed to be comfortable. It happened that when we stayed it was the "hottest days of the year so far" and so we spent most of our day time away checking out sites etc. Id love to come back during some cooler days so that I can spend more time at the camp.
Hosts were very responsive to any questions I had along the way. Would book here again if I return to the area.

We loved camping here. We brought all of our camping supplies because we were coming from another camping trip in Anza-Borrego. We barely used any of our other camping supplies because everything else was taken care of for us. The communal kitchen and shower was amazing. My friend had fun laying on the lounge chairs and exploring the area. I really liked the truck that we slept in and the composting toilet really came in handy. We ended up having to leave a little bit early because of work things, but I am very grateful for the time that we spent there.The overall vibe of the area is amazing and I would highly recommend this camping spot for anyone who enjoys the desert, but needs some creature comforts.

I loved this truck. It was so cozy, and it felt like luxury on a long camping trip not to have to set up all my own gear. The communal space has everything you need to cook, and the truck was so comfortable with amazing personality. Had been considering tent camping in the area and was very glad I didn’t- it would’ve been tough with the wind! Plus the truck provided shade and a wind block during the day to lounge in the chairs provided. Can’t recommend this enough!

Beautiful open land with gorgeous sunsets and stargazing. There are other trailers in the same vicinity, but they are far enough away that you basically have the space to yourself. We brought a propane fire pit to use, but there is a large private fire pit provided if you have room to bring firewood. Also a basic outdoor kitchen area with running water, soap, cast iron, dishes and silverware, propane outdoor stove, and shower area (complete with propane) which I did not get a chance to use. Amazing vibes all around. It got chilly at night, but there were plenty of blankets and pillows provided along with a small propane heater for use inside the truck. Weekend Trip to NowHere Drive Inn
My goodness did this place deliver above and beyond my already high expectations. This was a surprise getaway for my boyfriend’s birthday and it was more than perfect. He said this was the best birthday he’s ever had.
This place was the perfect balance of rustic and comfort. Our host Moira definitely did her due diligence providing us with a variety helpful tools. There was even a portable generator in case you might be worried about charging things. One thing worth mentioning is the bathroom situation. There is no plumbing system, but they do provide dry toilet with sawdust to add into it. Was not a problem for us but it would be good to consider if that is something you would be comfortable with. With that being said, we would definitely come back and stay longer and recommend it as well.

Windy’s spot was such a great site to call base during the holiday weekend. Very cozy and romantic. Plenty of blankets were provided so did not get cold at all during our stay! Special touches/details throughout the property made exploring so fun and whimsical!

One of the best stays I've had in Joshua Tree! There were plenty of amenities for us, and the kitchen and cookware were a huge plus as we forgot some of our own things during our last-minute packing.
The groundskeeper was helpful and attentive, and Windy was quick to respond to our questions as well! Thanks so much.

Staying at the truck was awesome for our one night stay in JT! Everything was as described and Windy was super quick to respond to any questions I had. All essentials were provided which makes things super easy. It was a tight fit but myself and two kids (7 and 10) were able to fit in the bed. Beautiful stars at night.
