Sun & Moon Geo Dome Retreat

It seems like nearly everyone who comes here says this is a peaceful place! It's like being out in the country whilst still being close enough to so many things, halfway between Sedona and Prescott, in a neighborhood with dirt roads and farm animals in which horses have the right away. The mountains are hypnotic. The air is clean. The stars are breathtaking. You can see the Milky Way on a clear night. The sunsets and sunrises are gorgeous and we see a lot of double rainbows here.
The dome is fully furnished for 4 people. Inside there's a queen bed, futon, clean linens, table w/chairs, portable a/c, electric heater; propane heater, lamps, microwave (for indoor cooking), ice maker, Keurig coffee maker, mini-fridge, USB & outlets for small devices (light electrical usage only), and WIFI is available. Plus a yoga mat, books, & a binder with food and sightseeing recommendations for the area.
Outside there's a picnic table, propane grill with side burner, propane firepit with comfortable seating surrounding. The clear dome windows are showing signs of aging, so the best star and sunset/sunrise viewing is outside. The outhouse building is equipped with a camping toilet, pump sink, and a camping shower (now heated!).
One towel per guest, grill utensils, cups, and plate ware provided. Bring disposables if you do not want to wash your own dishes. Most of the time guests are able to park next to the dome but sometimes, weather depending, it will be necessary to park and walk in about a hundred feet away from the dome.
Also on the property you'll find a walking path carved out through the trees behind the dome with a medicine wheel and labyrinth. The property is located in a rural neighborhood so there are other houses around, but at a far distance, with still plenty of privacy.
There are lots of animals like cardinals, hawks, owls, blue jays, roadrunners, hummingbirds, jackrabbits, cottontails, coyotes, and mule deer. Farm animals like donkeys make sounds in the distance which is pretty comical at times. There are occasional sightings of beer, wolves, and mountain lions.
The location is central to so many incredible places to explore. Within an hour each direction, there is distinctly different natural terrain to discover. Our local Mortimer Farm is 7 miles away and has a bakery (breakfast/sandwiches/treats), seasonal activities including pick your own food, farm dancing, and monthly farm to table dinners. We also have a local winery, golf course, café, pizzeria, subway and BBQ restaurant.

The Cabins are nestled around a patch of Bamboo and other high desert vegetation as well as a very rich cultural history with many Ruins and Other Native American Sights in the surrounding areas.
The Verde River is one of Arizona's only two Wild and Scenic Rivers, yet it remains relatively undiscovered as a recreational resource is within walking distance and offers endless exploration and water fun in the Spring and Summer Months! The road to reach us is breathtaking in itself with ancient Sinaguan Ruins and strangely beautifully sculpted landscapes along the River drive. Enjoy miles of forests, rivers, lakes, swimming, hiking, mtb, all near by and all while being comfy and cozy for a nights recharge to do it all again after a hot shower or Jacuzzi or our Absolutely AWESOME wood fired Sauna with Cold water dipping pool under the stars. Each Cabin is fully equipt (hot water/appliances/kitchen/bathroom/dishes) as an Adventure base during your stay providing a comfortable, cozy and unique location for couples or small groups/families to enjoy while adventuring and creating memories in the area. Our sunsets and night star-gazing are just spectacular and we're enough off the beaten path that there's no crowds or traffic to deal with, but you are close to dining and area attractions.
This is a quiet, rural neighborhood and a peaceful farm that borders the National Forest for easy hiking and few neighbors. The farm animals do cluck, crow, whinny, neigh, baa, bleat, squeal, and oink at various times, including early morning.
There is one mile of a somewhat bumpy gravel road with hills to reach our neighborhood, so please make sure you are ready for that and have adequate towing power. The nearest services and dining are 5 minutes away. We are about 25-30 minutes to Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek,
and the popular red rock hiking sites. There are many wineries and dining right down the road to enjoy.
1 hour to Flagstaff, 2 hours to Phoenix.

FLO is on the front acre of our property with our strawbale home on the back acreage. The views are breathtaking with the Sedona Red Rocks to the north and the Montezuma Castle National Monument canyon to the south. FLO is a fully self-contained, refurbished 1950 Spartan Mansion Silver Bullet. Her charm includes an original turquoise shower/bathroom, full bed, a sweet kitchen and quaint living area. All of the paneling is original bent birch wood. She feels like “a big hug” when you lay in her beautifully-curved bedroom. Total privacy, with your own patio and barbecue, fire pit, outdoor bathtub, solar-powered outdoor shower; one in FLO also. A 16' x 4' salt water above ground seasonal pool, May-October. FLO is strategically located as base camp (only 1.7 miles off I-17) for visiting Jerome, Prescott, Village of Oak Creek, Sedona, Flagstaff or The Grand Canyon. Drive down south to the warmth or up north to the cool. FLO's a great jumping off spot! Not to mention all the great hiking opportunities right here in the Verde Valley. Four perennial creeks all flow into the Verde River, all with wonderful hiking opportunities — Wet Beaver Creek, Clear Creek, Fossil Creek and Oak Creek. The gardens and trees have grown over the years since I first planted them and you never know what will be in-season and blooming! Gardening is my passion and I have thrived here for many years loving on this piece of land. Oh ya, your pets free and welcome! In order to provide this remote and private nature immersion, we are located 6 miles down an unmaintained dirt road. We drive in & out in a Toyota Camry other than during storms. We are about 25 minutes outside of Ash Fork, Arizona off of the Crookton exit. We will provide detailed directions and instructions prior to your arrival.
We offer free shuttle services when roads are wet or you can choose to pass with 4WD. We will keep an eye on the forecast.

The yurt has an air cooler to stay cool in the summer and a wood burning stove to stay warm in the winter. Wood for the fire is included.
We are located 25 minutes from the nearest gas station and about 45 minutes to the nearest grocery store so please come prepared.
