My name is Joel, and I turned my off-grid property into a park. It’s located right across the street from a 3,000 acre swath of Arizona recreational state land. AZ state land is like a state park, but with zero amenities. So, I started building amenities on my property.
We now have trash service, compost toilets, running hot water, a shower building, a furnished campsite, a mini barndominium, and everything runs on solar power.
We also get Amazon deliveries.
The park is only 20 miles from the Tucson city limits, but when you get out here you’ll feel like you’re a million miles away. Your ears will ring for the first half hour while adjusting to the quiet.
It’s a great place to read a book, unwind, and take some time off from the mouse marathon of daily urban life.
It’s also a great place to bring your ATV, dirt bike, or favorite pew-pews to go play Mad Max Beyond Thunderchicken out in the state land.
There’s a little something for everybody if you know what I mean.
Night time is very dark out here. There are no street lights because Kitt Peak National Observatory is just over yonder. You can see it from the property.
Most nights the Milky Way is clear and visible in the sky. I have pathway lights, and low lumen lighting around the park, but a flashlight is still helpful for getting around at night.
Next door is a bird sanctuary with 2 macaws (Blue Bird and Max), and halfway up the mountain (Keystone Peak) is an abandoned fluorite mine you can go explore.
We are in the foothills of the Sierrita Mountains, at an elevation of 3,200 ft. That’s 1,000 ft higher than Tucson, and 2,000 ft higher than Phoenix. The plant life is very lush and green for the desert, and the wildlife is plentiful.

This place was so cool! Loved the gated security and was so easy to get in and out. I loved the boondocking feel but still having full hookups. Felt secluded away but close to anything we needed and SO close to saguaro NP. The land was gorgeous to explore and man the sunsets every night were cherry on top. Can’t wait to come stay here again. Expect neighbors potentially but everyone was the absolute friendliest 🧡

Pretty nice spot! Very close to saguaro national park, cool local bar down the road, chairs & fire pits with grills, and decently private sites. The only issues was that the camp sites aren’t numbered very and quite a bit of trash left by past visitors. But overall would book again!

It is nothing like their website, no eggs, veggies or anything, not even a host BUT it is quiet and beautiful. Wild animals and wild dogs kept showing up so do not let your dog be off leash.

Sites are behind a gated entry, on the other end of 40 acres from the main property which makes this location feel like you are dry camping in the scenic desert. The land is natural and flat, lending the area to great views of the surrounding mountains once you are setup.
The sites were a bit too close but understandable given they've run full hookups to every site. Electric was solid, water pressure was plentiful, and no issues with the sewer connection. This made our 7 night stay very enjoyable, having the freedom of city water and easy dumping... with the scenery, quiet, and calm of dry camping way out in the desert.
Anthony and his wife were great hosts, met us when we arrived and showed us to our site... then we didn't see them for a few days until someone else arrived.

2nites turned into 3. Took a minute to access and figure out a camp spot. Rural neighborhood of single wides. Camp itself quiet. Neighbor dogs quite vocal. Solo traveler. Felt totally safe and slept very well. Beware thorny debris. Good Verizon signal. Robust quail! Ground squirrels wrestling. Desert Wren.
Homesite is a work in progress. No host onsite but responsive. Overall, a very chill find.
After dark, two additional campers showed up for a quick sleepover. Both gone shortly after sunrise. Both quiet and respectful on arrival.

Great view of the sunset and some excellent birding can happen as well. If you need anything there's a dollar general and a speedway not far. Also, the Praise Center Church of God is a great place to visit while you're there. Running water and power and a great service Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday! I didn't attend the Thursday night meeting but I heard good things about it.

Had a very pleasant 3 day tent camping stay here. Near as I could tell from the 2 signs I saw, the spots are arranged around a dirt round roundabout as soon as you pull thru gate. I could not find spot #’s, parking spaces or official delineation between them. Plenty of level spots and improvised fire pits.
The location is in a rural setting but surrounded by neighboring properties. I never felt like my privacy was being invaded as most homes are hundreds of feet away.
As described, the property is teaming with wildlife and they do make plenty of wildlife noises but I had no issue with it during the day or night, sounded like nature to me.
I had no interaction with the host but required none. Would definitely stay here again, no restroom makes mornings a hurried affair but can’t beat the price and accessibility to Saguaro Nat’l Park.
