Bakers Akers

3 sites · RVs, Tents80 acres · Lordsburg, NM
Bakers Akers is located in what used to be Nebblett New Mexico but is now Virden New Mexico. The one room Nebblett school house was located on this property. Virden was settled by the Mormons when they were ran out of old Mexico by Poncho Villa. Kit Carson took this route guiding General Kearney and the Army of the west to California during the Mexican American war. It is now being discussed that Coronado may have come through this area also. The farm was used for breeding and training race horses. It is now a cow/calf operation. Learn more about this land: Camp on the Gila River amongst the century old Cottonwoods and Mulberry trees, with Bermuda grass carpeting. Plenty of shade to pitch a tent or park under. Wildlife abounds with deer, beaver, turkeys, javelina, and a large variety of birds. Located on a eighty acre cattle ranch. Quiet with great views of stars at night and majestic mountains in the day. The camp grounds are located beyond the cattle pastures and next to the Gila River. Fire pits available and plenty of wood to gather for burning. Eleven miles from the historic town of a Duncan Arizona, filled with little markets, craft store, antique shop, rock shop, and home town restaurants, if any needs arise or an itch needs scratching. With prior notice and extra fees a New Mexican dutch-oven dinner and hayride can be included.

Savanna Hermitage

2 sites · Lodging25 acres · Sunizona, AZ
The Savanna Hermitage is a solo retreat space of 25 acres inspired by meditation, qigong, yoga, and solitude in nature. It is a small, quiet retreat oriented toward facilitating lifestyles and practices of higher consciousness to maximize human potential, allowing the host and guests to evolve toward becoming the most empowered and enlightened human beings they can be. As monks, hermits, sages, yogis, and other spiritual seekers and masters have been doing for millennia, the very simple lifestyle and practices minimize focus upon the lower chakra, lower consciousness physical realms of sensual indulgences and desires. This allows instead for the residents and guests to focus their time and energy more fully on the purely non-physical upper chakra, higher consciousness realms of non-attachment, equanimity, and pure higher awareness. Cultivating a meditative lifestyle of higher consciousness is the core foundational practice at the Savanna Hermitage. Many forms of meditation and higher consciousness practice are welcome, including zen, mindfulness, vipassana, transcendental, qigong, yoga, and others. Guests are encouraged to spend an average minimum of 2-3 hours a day practicing sitting, lying down, walking/hiking, movement meditation, qigong, yoga, and other higher consciousness practice, and are solitary and self-directed. The host is also available to facilitate meditation, qigong, and yoga practice upon request, and guests are welcome to share their practices with others upon request as well (optional). In addition to the solo practice space in each guest room, the Hermitage property also has an outdoor meditation/qigong/yoga circle for solo and group practice and also contains over a mile (1.6 kilometers) of walking meditation nature trails for guest use and enjoyment anytime. Endless miles of amazing hiking trails throughout the nearby Chiricahua mountains feature stunning rock formations, evergreen forests, and magnificent waterfalls. The host has been hiking there regularly over the past 15 years and is available to guide hikes upon request that engage the uniquely powerful earth energy by incorporating meditation and qigong. Mature, experienced, self-motivated, independent, and self-sufficient individuals with established higher consciousness practices and lifestyles, and high levels of physical, mental, and emotional health and stability are encouraged to apply. Support meetings are offered on a weekly or monthly basis where residents and guests are welcome to share how their practice is progressing, to identify areas for improvement, and request comments and advice from others. There is plenty of free time, and residents and guests are encouraged to utilize it to support their higher consciousness lifestyle through reading, walking, hiking, immersion in nature, contemplation, and deepening their meditation and higher consciousness practices. Guests are encouraged to practice digital minimalism, i.e. minimizing the amount of time online, and staring at a screen. Aside from phone service, there is no internet on site, and more than the very occasional use of videos, movies, television, and social media is discouraged. There is good cellular phone reception that can be utilized as a wifi hotspot as necessary, and there is broadband internet and books available at a nearby public library. The Hermitage also has a small collection of excellent books available for guests' use. The Savanna Hermitage is a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for women, LGBTQ individuals, and people of color. Discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation is prohibited, and all residents and guests must refrain from sexual/romantic advances toward others during their stay. Absolutely no alcohol, tobacco, cannabis/marijuana, or other drugs are allowed on site. Candles, incense, and any type of open flame or fire are prohibited in all buildings and throughout the Hermitage property.

Shadow Hill

12 sites · RVs, Tents80 acres · Sunizona, AZ
Looking for land nearly exhausted my husband and I. We had looked at properties all day. Decided to stop and get something to eat and head home to call it a day, when we stopped at Sandy's RV and restaurant up the street (great food btw). Met a woman who told us about the water table there and she said "I wish you could find someone to sell you land like I did; its the best way yo buy). She wasn't kidding! Turns out she forgot her friend at the fruit-stand out front had 80 Acres to sell! We went right over to look at the land and the rest was history! It was breathtaking! I hope you feel the same way we did when we first stepped on it; just peace and safety.Learn more about this land:Survey the beautiful night skies on a private 80 acres lot with breathtaking views panoramically. The property sits in the shadow of the Chiricahua Monuments, as these monuments are less than 25 miles away from the property. Camelback mountain is within feet of the property as well. The property has a private hill that takes up 20 acres of the property. Surrounded by mountains all around, there is no bad view! Nearby winery, family restaurant, and Katchner Caverns. Come enjoy a meal by fireside with family and friends. Elfrida is higher elevated and has mild autumn nights and warm days. The nights sky is majestic and clear enough to count the stars. I look forward to hosting you, your loved one, or family and friends.

3:10 to Dragoon

4 sites · Lodging1 acre · Dragoon, AZ
Dragoon is rich in history and natural beauty. The name comes from the 3rd U.S. Calvary Dragoons who battled the Chiricahua Apaches here led by Chief Cochise during the Apache Wars. Nearby, you can visit the confederate graves and ruins of the Dragoon Springs Stage Station. About 20 minutes away is Cochise Stronghold, home and burial place of Chief Cochise and Chiricahua Nat'l Monument is about an hour away (great hiking and climbing!). Unique to this area are the amazing rock formations of pillars, balances, and stacked rocks caused by cooled volcanic granite 50 million years ago.  In addition, our area is home to hundreds of different bird species, the occasional Gila monster, coyotes, deer, and javalina.
