The Painted Desert Ranger Cabin is a backcountry, off grid cabin acquired by Ranger Ross in 2011. Ranger Ross lived in the cabin while he worked as a resource protection ranger at the Petrified Forest National Park. The ranger cabin is a rustic off grid cabin that offers no amenities. There is no concierge, room service, or continental breakfast. There is no linen service or fancy little bottles of shampoo. It does however, offer beautiful views of the Painted Dessert wilderness, quiet serenity, and amazing star gazing opportunities. Site#1 has Full Hook Up - Running water, sewage RV Hookup of 30amp and 50amp electricity, for $45. Site#2 and Site#3 are side by side. They have running water and priced at $25. each. These two Sites are better for tents or a small trailer. A personal generator may be used but only during certain hours. These are lovely spots with shade trees, so pretty. There are lots of mature Juniper trees and some Pine trees that provide shade on the property. Often we experience a lovely breeze. We live a mile off of 260 on a rugged dirt road. We keep the Entrance Gate locked for safety and security. We are located on 2 acres and have a garden and a green house where we grow a large variety of vegetables. We only accept trailers and fifth wheels of 21 feet or less on site #2 and #3. There is a Chicken House and a rooster and we have plenty of farm fresh eggs that are available to purchase. 0ur home is tucked away 1 mile off the 260 Hwy. on a rugged dirt road. First you will drive pass the Linden Valley Arena before reaching our property. The Arena was designed for ropers by ropers and is open from May thru September. 10-15 minute drive away is Fool Hollow lake, Show Low City Park, Safeway Grocery Store, Post Office, Library, and a variety of restaurants. Within that distance there is Boating, Fishing, Hiking, Picnic Areas, Large Dog Park, well equipped Playground area, Basketball Courts, Baseball fields, Sand Volley Ball, Tennis Courts, Racquet Ball Court, Horseshoe Pits, Disc Golf, Outdoor Exercise Stations, Walking Trail, Pavilions, Restrooms all the while enjoying the enormous, plentiful Ponderosa Pines. Show Low City Park Aquatic Center has 6 lane 25-yard pool with an adjoining leisure pool featuring zero-depth entry, Spray Fountain, Water Slide, Indoor Spa. Show Low was named by the turn of a Card. This is a nice spot on a hill with a gentle slope that overlooks the beautiful plateaus of Petrified Forest National Park. Enjoy the stars from the comfort of your bed through a roof glass window. Cook outside on our outdoor cooking area and enjoy the fresh breeze. There is a convenient store located over the bridge, south of the Sun Valley exit off the 40 freeway. Very light local traffic. Sometimes you can expect wild horses, jack rabbits and cows at a safe distance. Also highway noise depending on direction of wind. Here you can enjoy amazing star gazing and shooting stars on a dark night with no or quarter moon. We have added lots more amenities than before. This is an adorable 10x10 non-insulated shed/cabin with one bunk bed, a sofa bed, refrigerator, Kurig coffee counter top machine with kitchenette cabinets with storage for dishes, pots and pans and utensils. You can also enjoy an indoor wood burning stove or a Portable Buddy heater and a two burner Coleman stove with propane tank (on request) , hot or cold running water indoor sink and outdoor shower. We provide a double cartridge toilet just outside in out house. Enjoy the outdoor patio area with hammocks, patio tables and chairs, two bonfire pits to pick from (when wind conditions are ideal) More pictures to come soon. This place is a gem. Nani is very welcoming, the land and stars are beautiful, and her "treehouse" was available and cozy on a cold night. The main road driving in is well-graded dirt/clay. Just watch out for cows. Don't be in any rush, chat with Nani, learn about the place and respect the spot 🫶 Can't wait to come back in the future :)

Came to Shiloh Ranch with four friends on a road trip this past week and it was by far our best stop. Sandee offered us kindness and hospitality, helped us with directions to our next destination, and informed us about the nature around us. The casita itself was well stocked with plenty of blankets, cooking supplies, and seasonings The property was stunning and we had a blast looking at the night sky and rummaging around looking for petrified wood I could not recommend this place enough.

Weekend Trip to Campfire Adventure Ranch

Even in December, I was surprised we were the only ones here. This site is the perfect spot to stay after a day at Petrified Forest National Park. Just a few minutes from the northern entrance. Gave us a night off from setting up the tent, a bit more warmth, and some creature comforts. There are two bunk beds, a full table with four chairs for dining, lights, a radio, even some reading and lots of thoughtful information about the park and other useful things nearby. This place was PITCH BLACK after sunset. I stood outside for some time watching shooting stars. Definitely bring a flashlight as it's a bit of a walk in the dark to the outhouse.

Weekend Trip to RV in Gods country

We absolutely loved our stay on Elena‘s land. It was so peaceful and quiet. There is so much wildlife and the meditation trail was super relaxing and inspiring with So many beautiful touches along the trail. We were able to go take a walk in the field out the back gate, and there were lots of cattle in the area that were not disturbed by us at all, and they just minded their own business. It was really awesome being able to spend some time alone and to get grounded again in a very natural environment. The views are spectacular from the countryside to the stars at night. Will definitely consider staying again in the future. Thank you.

First of all Sandee was lovely and made us feel so very welcome. Situated on a property that has a main house and multiple guesthouses, my family stayed in the smaller guesthouse. All amenities available meant all our needs were met. The house had plenty of room for us. Our little dog was equally welcome. The ranch was far removed from noise and nonsense, but only 20 minutes from the Petrified Forest south entrance. A beautiful setting!

We enjoyed our stay at Shawn’s campsite. It was great since we got in really late and had to set up as the sun was setting but finding it was easy with the instructions we got. The only thing I would say is make sure your vehicle can do a little off road in case of rain. Fortunately we were in a four wheel drive truck and easily got in and out. Thanks Shawn for letting us stay the night during our trip.

Nani was a remarkable host. Her land is quiet, clean and very pretty. She took the time to drive and meet us and escorted us to her campground. Each spot has a fire pit, picnic table and pad for tents. A really cute outhouse is in between the sites. She has built everything herself, which is quite impressive. She's a carpenter. I do want to note that it is a 9.5 mile drive down a non paved road. It is very ruddy and washboard. We've been boondocking for 7 years and have been on some challenging roads. But, if you are somewhat inexperienced or have a vehicle that isn't equipped for it, you should be aware before attempting. However, it was definitely worth the stay. Beautiful property, very kind hostess and super quiet.

It was awesome! Know what you are getting into though. This is bare bones, don't expect luxury amenities. What you're getting is some distance between you and the city. And a great view of the stars. This is all about the nighttime sky. The tent is WELL protected from the wind and cold. Tent comes with a few items like a lamp, a space heater, book with local information. A bench outside, a table and two chair inside the tent. Its lovely.

My sister and I absolutely loved this camp site. You felt like you were in the middle of no where right in the national park. Star gazing was perfect and the view was beautiful. It rained that day and we probably would not have made it without all wheel drive. I can’t imagine how bad the road gets with lots of rain so be aware of the weather. Thank you for sharing your land with us.

4 nights at Cabin by the Pond

This place is a little slice of Heaven! Cute and quaint cabin, with a spacious loft and homey feel. There were a ton of great hiking spots with beautiful views on these 40 acres. My German Shepherd enjoyed swimming in the pond, artistically lined with cattails and full of friendly fish. The other pond was a bit overgrown, but still a sight to see. The night sky is perfect for star gazing, away from city lights. “Cabin by the Pond” is definitely a great place to go to escape the business of life!
