Explore the Painted Desert wonderland to play around in and stargaze. The campsite is shared with Wild Horses, Pronghorns, Owls and Bovine that wander around the area. Look out to the south and a view of Petrified Forest National Park is right there. And when you're in the park, using binoculars, you can see the campsite from Pintado Point. The ranger cabin is a rustic off grid cabin that offers no amenities. There is no concierge, room service, or continental breakfast. There is no linen service or fancy little bottles of shampoo. It does however, offer beautiful views of the Painted Dessert wilderness, quiet serenity, and amazing star gazing opportunities. All from the comfort of a cozy one room cabin with a queen size bed and a flush toilet.
The ranger cabin sits on the border of the north wilderness area of the Petrified Forest National Park. There are great hiking and exploration opportunities right out the back door of the cabin.

Enjoy the Junipers and see the stars fall over the Cedars!
At 6000ft elevation the air is much cleaner and the weather is much cooler, especially in the summer time! We have plenty of space. A well house to fill up your water. There are also outdoor bathrooms, no shower yet, but working on that! We're just a short seven minute drive to the dump station at a local gas station down the road on the Deuce of Clubs and Penrod. We are 14 minutes from a large hospital, 10 minutes from major grocery stores, shopping and restaurants, and many other fun activities. Our location is in a perfect spot to enjoy the blue sky and great weather. Sunrise Ski area is a quick drive too! Pinetop Lakeside are within 10 minutes, Taylor and Snowflake are within 15 to 25 minutes. We hope you visit and continue to keep our environment clean and a chill spot to visit. This is a nice spot on a hill with a gentle slope that overlooks the beautiful plateaus of Petrified Forest National Park. Enjoy the stars from the comfort of your bed through a roof glass window. Cook outside on our outdoor cooking area and enjoy the fresh breeze. There is a convenient store located over the bridge, south of the Sun Valley exit off the 40 freeway.
Very light local traffic. Sometimes you can expect wild horses, jack rabbits and cows at a safe distance. Also highway noise depending on direction of wind.
Here you can enjoy amazing star gazing and shooting stars on a dark night with no or quarter moon.
We have added lots more amenities than before.
This is an adorable 10x10 non-insulated shed/cabin with one bunk bed, a sofa bed, refrigerator, Kurig coffee counter top machine with kitchenette cabinets with storage for dishes, pots and pans and utensils.
You can also enjoy an indoor wood burning stove or a Portable Buddy heater and a two burner Coleman stove with propane tank (on request) , hot or cold running water indoor sink and outdoor shower. We provide a double cartridge toilet just outside in out house.
Enjoy the outdoor patio area with hammocks, patio tables and chairs, two bonfire pits to pick from (when wind conditions are ideal)

This is a nice spot on a hill with a gentle slope that overlooks the beautiful plateaus of Petrified Forest National Park. Enjoy the stars from the comfort of your bed through a roof glass window. Cook outside on our outdoor cooking area and enjoy the fresh breeze. There is a convenient store located over the bridge, south of the Sun Valley exit off the 40 freeway.
Very light local traffic. Sometimes you can expect wild horses, jack rabbits and cows at a safe distance. Also highway noise depending on direction of wind.
Here you can enjoy amazing star gazing and shooting stars on a dark night with no or quarter moon.
We have added lots more amenities than before.
This is an adorable 10x10 non-insulated shed/cabin with one bunk bed, a sofa bed, refrigerator, Kurig coffee counter top machine with kitchenette cabinets with storage for dishes, pots and pans and utensils.
You can also enjoy an indoor wood burning stove or a Portable Buddy heater and a two burner Coleman stove with propane tank (on request) , hot or cold running water indoor sink and outdoor shower. We provide a double cartridge toilet just outside in out house.
Enjoy the outdoor patio area with hammocks, patio tables and chairs, two bonfire pits to pick from (when wind conditions are ideal)

We arrived at this beautiful property at the end of 2023 and have since worked diligently to create a space that we and others would love. Our location boasts a stunning views with hills all around and beautiful views of both sunrise and sunsets. We're working on adding showers and hot/cold plunge tubs for your enjoyment. Notably, we have a composting toilet that efficiently turns waste into fertilizer in just 3 weeks! We have two very sweet dogs that are off leash that may come up and say hello. Large rustic log cabin in the pines. Our families favorite place to be. Cabin is 2800 sqft. and has a large 1400 sqft. deck for enjoying the outdoors and views overlooking Greer Valley. Great base camp for fishing and hiking in the spring and summer, hunting in the fall and skiing in the winter. Very close to the three Greer lakes and only 15 minutes to Sunrise Ski Park. Quiet secluded location but still close to all Greer and the White Mountains has to offer.

We loved our stay!
The cabin is comfortable and well equipped. Having a full bathroom, running water, and lights is a luxury! Ross is a great host. His advice and directions were helpful. We have a high clearance 4 wheel drive vehicle so we were able to get to the cabin without any difficulty. We can’t wait to return!

Came to Shiloh Ranch with four friends on a road trip this past week and it was by far our best stop.
Sandee offered us kindness and hospitality, helped us with directions to our next destination, and informed us about the nature around us.
The casita itself was well stocked with plenty of blankets, cooking supplies, and seasonings
The property was stunning and we had a blast looking at the night sky and rummaging around looking for petrified wood
I could not recommend this place enough.

Even in December, I was surprised we were the only ones here. This site is the perfect spot to stay after a day at Petrified Forest National Park. Just a few minutes from the northern entrance. Gave us a night off from setting up the tent, a bit more warmth, and some creature comforts. There are two bunk beds, a full table with four chairs for dining, lights, a radio, even some reading and lots of thoughtful information about the park and other useful things nearby. This place was PITCH BLACK after sunset. I stood outside for some time watching shooting stars. Definitely bring a flashlight as it's a bit of a walk in the dark to the outhouse.

First of all Sandee was lovely and made us feel so very welcome.
Situated on a property that has a main house and multiple guesthouses, my family stayed in the smaller guesthouse. All amenities available meant all our needs were met. The house had plenty of room for us. Our little dog was equally welcome. The ranch was far removed from noise and nonsense, but only 20 minutes from the Petrified Forest south entrance. A beautiful setting!

We loved this spot!! Beautiful wide open space with a nice table / overhang, bathroom and some fun yard games. And we were so glad to be right near Petrified Forest National Park. It was a bit tricky to get there, but Ken talked us through every step and even spent extra time setting up alternative paths (it had rained) and putting out reflective poles so we could find our way. We really, really appreciated his extra care and hospitality and would love to stay again next time we're in the area!
To note, if it's rained recently, we would recommend a high clearance / 4-wheel drive vehicle, but if conditions are dry, we hear you can navigate the road in a Prius!

We enjoyed our stay at Shawn’s campsite. It was great since we got in really late and had to set up as the sun was setting but finding it was easy with the instructions we got. The only thing I would say is make sure your vehicle can do a little off road in case of rain. Fortunately we were in a four wheel drive truck and easily got in and out.

The directions were very easy to follow! The road is a bit bumpy in some areas so a high clearance car is what I would recommend, but our 2WD sprinter did just fine! The property was very private and quiet, and my daughter loved seeing the all the cows. The cherry on top was the ending the night with one of the prettiest sunsets I’ve ever seen.

Great spot. Eymos was an awesome host, responsive to questions, and present to welcome/orient us, as well as giving us ample space to relax and enjoy the site on our own. Vibes are rustic/DIY but very intentional and thoughtful. The stargazing roof was a highlight.

Weekend Trip to Petrified Forest
It was awesome! Know what you are getting into though. This is bare bones, don't expect luxury amenities. What you're getting is some distance between you and the city. And a great view of the stars. This is all about the nighttime sky.
The tent is WELL protected from the wind and cold. Tent comes with a few items like a lamp, a space heater, book with local information. A bench outside, a table and two chair inside the tent. Its lovely.
