Hawks Hideaway offers 8 campsites suitable for tents of all sizes, many of which can accommodate two or more tents (additional fees may apply). We also have a large, unfurnished teepee, and are working on a cozy, furnished country cottage. (ETA Sept 25). Large trailers and RVs are NOT allowed.
Nearby activities include: bird watching, hiking, river rafting or tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, stargazing, and rockhounding. This area conforms to the Arizona Dark Sky initiative, and while we are not dark-sky certified, we've had several guests compliment us on our beautiful skys. When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study.
We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead.
There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area.
Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream.
Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.
You are responsible for your own safety and are camping here at you own risk. Please do not interact with any wild animals. If you encounter something and need help, please reach out to us. We live on the property and are readily available.

Welcome to Red Rock Roping! Where you will be a close 3 mile drive to old town Cave Creek restaurants, bars, and shopping strip. But far enough to enjoy a quiet and peaceful scenery of mountains, sunsets and sunrises. Don’t forget to kick your feet up, and end your night to enjoy a wide open view of the stars! Also, keep your eyes open for desert critters such as rattlesnakes, tarantulas, scorpions, deer, road runners, bob cats, and coyotes. We ask please do not pet, catch, feed or leave any food out that will attract them. Enjoy them from a picture away :)
Our 2 accessible acres will give you 360 view of mountains, our Red Rock Roping arena, and a Saloon to gather under to enjoy cool refreshments, and a meal with your friends/family. Right outside our entrance going North on 80th Street you can hike over to the Grapevine Wash which is a short walk away from the Cave Creek Town Trail System for hiking and horseback riding, and if you’re adventurous you can hike up 2 miles of a 800’ climb on a gravel road/trails to “Mexican Hat” for an even more incredible view! We are a 30 amp full hook up (sewer, water & electrical) for 33’ RV’s and living quarters horse trailers. You will also have access to our community laundry area, with a large garbage can to dump a bag if needed.
Some suggestions for town; Grab some quick delicous breakfast and coffee at Janey’s. Or American cuisine lunch at The Horny Toad, a Mexican cuisine dinner while watching the turtles in the pond at El Encanto! Ofrenda, right at the end of the road, also has great authentic Mexican cuisine. Many restaurants to choose from all within a short drive. Bashas, Safeway, Target, and Walmart and Sprouts are all within a 3-6 mile drive too!
We have two turnout pens for horses. That are located right behind where you will park your trailer. They both have a cover that provides some shade, as well as running water. We do not provide any feed, so please make sure you bring some! We ask that you please do not feed any horses that do not belong to you. Or go into any pen that your horse is not in. For safety and respect :) Thank you in advance.

Gary and Darren's place is great and very well designed. Beautiful views, lots of places to sit around the camp, great shower and bathroom, a community room offering coffee, tea, snacks, and just about anything you really need or want.
They are super nice guys too.
We didnt have time to go to the water but we did enjoy a nice fire. I would go back.

Firstly, this beautiful land reflects the persona that Gary & Daren reflect: solid, serene, and scenic! Having journeyed into so many great sites and properties, I finally found the right fit for me when in AZ. Friendly hosts with unexpected full service bathroom and shower plus solar shower, empty mini fridge for our use and path down switchbacks to riverside playground complete with chairs, hammocks and kayaks. My son caught a bass in the river! No trees or windbreaks as the sites (5 total?) are exposed on a narrow plateau. Great fire pit and comfy chairs plus our site had a bath to a comfy bench looking down on the river.

Nice camping spots! Beautiful and serene. Sadly the neighbors decided to wake us up at 8am on a Saturday and continued doing loud mechanical maintenance but luckily Vicky was gracious enough to refund the second day since we came for peace and quiet. We left early and are happy with how the situation was remedied.
The day/night we did spend was so nice. All the birds including what I assume were peacocks and then an owl at night.

Staying at Sacred Springs was a great getaway. They have everything you need for cooking. Gary and Daren were quickly responsive via messages and in-person to any questions we had. The bathroom and showers were nice and clean. Everything down to the seating arrangements across the land were thought out extensively for a perfect vacation.

What a unique surprise this was! The camp sites sit atop a cliff overlooking the spring and grotto. The swimming hole beneath is cold and refreshing-we had a ball taking a dip. Cool outdoor shower or more traditional as well as a sweet little community room with kitchen. Gary and Darren are so thoughtful and have little touches of creativity and care everywhere!

The site was well maintained and easy to find. The site was clean and pretty. The little holes and excursions were perfect for my 6 year old and I. It was cool waking up to the sound of rooters, turkeys a donkey and of course a fun visit from buddy. We didn’t not use any accommodations other than the trash. But it was nice to know it was there. Perfect experience for my fist time camper and anyone not looking to fight for spots on BLM.
