20 nights at Gullatte Acres

I can’t say enough good things about Gullatte Acres. I work remote and live in my airstream with my dog. We originally came here because it was close to a friend I was visiting, but we ended up liking it so much that we extended our stay—twice as long as we’d planned! Sam and his family are truly wonderful hosts—always responsive, friendly, and willing to lend a hand with anything you might need. Their hospitality made the stay feel easy and welcoming from day one. The property itself is peaceful and full of charm. There’s a small pond with boats you’re welcome to use, firewood and fire pits, and they have fresh eggs you can buy. My dog absolutely loved being able to run off-leash and I loved how quiet and relaxing the setting was. The sunrises and sunsets here are absolutely stunning. It's about a 25 minute drive to Columbus, Opelika/Auburn, and Chewacla State Park. I spent most weekends hiking, running, or mountain biking somewhere nearby. If you’re into mountain biking, you’ll love the area—there are tons of great trails all within a short drive. All in all, Gullatte Acres is a gem. Whether you're just passing through or looking for a longer-term spot, it’s hard to beat the peace, nature, and hospitality you’ll find here. We'll definitely be back sometime!

We loved our full hookup RV spot at Samuel’s land. Checkin couldn’t have been simpler, we got in after dark and still found our spot easily, and enjoyed a fire in the fire pit and the clear night sky. Quiet as can be, very peaceful. And the flushable toilet and shower are a nice addition too. We’d definitely recommend the spot, and will remember it’s there if we make our way out that way again.

This dispersed camping option was perfect for my SUV camping. The land is beautiful and peaceful. I was able to find a nice level spot too. :-)

I went tent camping here I was a very pleasant stay. My dog had fun wandering the wooded area. We did miss the drive at first and the dogs at the top of the hill were in the road so just be careful if you do miss the drive. Overall very pleasant. Would stay again.

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Samuel and Gullatte Acres was absolutely perfect. Samuel was super friendly and responsive to all messages and calls. The property was amazing!! The dispersed site we stayed at was far off of the road and over some rolling hills. We had plenty of space, even with neighbors. We brought our own "facilities" so we did not use theirs. I would most certainly stay here again the next time we are in the area.

We stayed for a night at the North Campground (site 8) and were extremely happy! Directions to the campground were clear, but we had a bit of trouble locating our site (sites 7 and 8 share a post with 5 and 6, but their numbers are posted on the opposite sides of the posts so we did not see them). A quick phone call to Samuel (host) and he was down in a flash with his family to make sure we were all set! You have views for days! Extremely peaceful and quiet. We did not see the toilets or showers since we had a camper and did not need those amenities. Full hookups were very appreciated. Our camper is 34 feet and we had no trouble driving the dirt road to the camping area or getting out.

Weekend Trip to Gullatte Acres

This was exactly what we were looking for when trying to find a spot to tent camp. The Northside camp sites were in a clearing that was well maintained and the bathhouse was clean. The lake is just a short walk through the trees, and our host was very gracious to bring firewood directly to us and offer to re locate the fire pit from the lake to our spot. There was only one other occupant the first night and we had the clearing to ourselves the rest of the time. We brought our dog and it was a great experience for him. You can have your dog off leash, but ours was in a line as there are deer and we’re still working on self control and recall. Do be warned, you are in the country. There are deer, raccoons and opossum and we did have two coyotes venture pretty close to our tent, so be aware of your surroundings, especially if you have pets or children with you and be responsible with your food. Keep it locked up and clean up nightly and you shouldn’t have an issue. I felt like we found a real prize of a camp site and am already looking to come back when we can. It’s perfect to see stars and just enjoy some quiet evenings and unwind from life.

Simply beautiful! Easy access, quiet minus the cars passing by, picnic table, fire pit, the works! Horseshoe pit too.

This place was absolutely delightful. The location is private, scenic, serene, and secluded without being too far from town. There’s an outdoor heated shower, an indoor toilet, and tons of space. Whether you’re local or just passing through, I would very highly recommend.

Tent camp or RV park on my future house site near Auburn and lake Martin. Condition: Undeveloped, no water, no sewage disposal, no electricity. Leave no trace, pack it in, pack it out. Thanks! Location: 6 minutes from Dollar General 8 minutes from "Union" Public boat ramp on Lake Martin. 39 minutes from Jordan Hare Stadium. Description: The property is 75 feet wide and stretches 210 feet back from the road. Shaded with trees, flat, plenty of room for pitching a tent. The driveway clearing large enough for a car plus camper or RV. I don't have dimensions, but use the pictures of my Jeep for reference. For now, you must decide if your rig will fit. The driveway ground is hard, but there isn't any gravel on the drive yet, so be mindful of parking during rain or soggy conditions. There is a fire ring and a few chairs to enjoy socializing or plenty of trees to hang a hammock and relax. Basically a quiet place to relax, in an undeveloped neighborhood, and pretend you are in a backcountry tent site, 6 minutes from Dollar General :) War Eagle!

There are big areas of pine needles covering the ground.Our Paintball Among the Pines is onsite but not near the camping areas. You should have as much privacy as you hikers want, it depends on how far back you go. Our place is almost fully wooded so there is plenty of firewood laying around. The property is not mountainous, but has slopping hills. Near Auburn and Lake Martin Pull straight ahead pass the RV on the left, tents to the right and down the road, and campers find a spot. We seldom have two camp groups at the same time.

We are just a short bike ride / walk from the Park/lake, we are not on the lake, but we are the closest location to the park for camping. Its only a couple of acres but its surrounded by woods, with only .03 miles to the Park Entrance, there are a couple security lights, lots of walking trails in the area, a boat dock one mile away, Lake Wedowee is a huge lake, which is great for fishing, Kayaking , swimming and relaxing!
