We currently have primitive tent camping that can easily fit 4-5 tents or hammock camping.
Both options sit alongside Sofkahatchee creek. We have 15 acres of untouched forest to wonder through and help you reconnect with mother nature. It’s my favorite spot for meditation and grounding.
The sky is amazingly dark around here and stargazing would be at the top of my list of things I love about the property.
This area is full of wildlife. Raccoons, deer, turkey, possums, armadillo, snakes, and even bears. I haven’t personally ran in to any bears but they have been sited.
So, who knows what you will befriend while in the wild.
The camping areas are very private. It’s part of a 50 acre lot that has recently been cleared and in the process of reseeding and preparing for a pond and farm life. So, sorry if you run in to anything that isn’t picturesque but your camp site will be beautiful and peaceful.

There are so many little towns near by. Our little town of Wetumpka is only 9 miles down the road. It was featured on HGTV's Hometown Takeover in 2021, was featured in the movie Big Fish and is a picture perfect town, with many locally owned shops and restaurants. It's located right on the Coosa River, where you can kayak/canoe (coosariveradventures.com), launch your boat or fish year round at Gold State Park which also has a fantastic play area for kids with a nice walking trail that goes along the river. Stop in at Coosa River Craft House or Coosa Cleaver for refreshing adult beverages and live music. Look for the Big Fish house. It's the big white house on the hill.
We are 9 miles from Lake Jordan and 11 miles from Lake Martin.
Fort Toulouse National Historic Park is 25 minutes away. There you can tour over 6,000 years of history. You can tour the French and American Forts or the Mississippian Indian Mound site, or just relax and take a walk along the trails.

Just 15 minutes east of us is Swayback Bridge https://www.riverregionmtb.org/swayback-bridge-trail. There are five loop trials available, ranging from 1 miles to 11.2 miles. You can hike or bike them. The bridge is 290 feet long and goes over Lake Jordan.
Wind Creek Casino Wetumpka is 10 miles and Montgomery location is only 16 miles from our property, if you want to chance your luck with some gaming.

Escape to a private campsite in rural Alabama. The property is surrounded by forest and wildlife. There are several places to hang a hammock and plenty of room for outdoor games like cornhole.
The city of Columbus is about 25 minutes away and offers white water rafting, zip lining, axe throwing, a river-walk, and other activities. There are plenty of lakes and rivers to go fishing. Auburn is about 40 mins away.
The site offers an outhouse, fire pit, fire pit grill rack for cooking, platform (which can be used for small/medium tents, or to hold a table and chairs) and a hiking trail that is about 1/3 of a mile.
Small cars are able to access campsite and park at site pretty easily.
The property also has natural wildlife like coyotes, snakes, spiders, ants, etc.. Alabama can also get very hot during June, July, August. Please prepare accordingly.
Meeting at the front of the property is not needed, just drive to your hipcamp and set up 🙂 Please message me about any concerns!
About us:
My wife and I bought this property in 2020 with the goal of turning this land into a homestead. We plan on building a home eventually and have cleared out our homesite. My mom and stepfather live at the front of the property and can help you if needed. My stepfather is retired and my mother works as a nurse assistant in town. The property is 75 feet wide and stretches 210 feet back from the road. Shaded with trees, flat, plenty of room for pitching a tent. The driveway clearing large enough for a car plus camper or RV. I don't have dimensions, but use the pictures of my Jeep for reference. For now, you must decide if your rig will fit. The driveway ground is hard, but there isn't any gravel on the drive yet, so be mindful of parking during rain or soggy conditions.
There is a fire ring and a few chairs to enjoy socializing or plenty of trees to hang a hammock and relax. Basically a quiet place to relax, in an undeveloped neighborhood, and pretend you are in a backcountry tent site, 6 minutes from Dollar General :) War Eagle!

We stayed two nights at Buck Creek Junction and had the whole place to ourselves, which made it incredibly peaceful. We met Jennifer when we arrived, and she was very nice and welcoming. I caught three catfish right in front of Site 6, which made the trip even better. If you bring what you need and enjoy primitive camping, you really don’t have to leave the property. It’s a quiet, simple spot that’s perfect for relaxing by the creek.

This spot was so wonderful :) everything was very clean and well managed. Getting in was simple, the owner even keeps a flashlight at the gate! All the little things are thought of, all the way down to a little library! The shower was wonderful too! It only took us 25 minutes to get to a great hiking trail with a waterfall to cool off in!

Our camping trip was awesome! Very private and remote. Plenty of places to set up camp. Of course we came prepared (as you should) with a headlamp, tools for brush removal, such as gloves, loppers and saw, and/or sawz-all, and a good rake to clean up a site and process firewood. The cows are funny, they may come say hey as you pass through the gates. Bull with tag #175 approached us but kept his distance, and was sassy and funny 😂. And lastly, of course, beware of nature. I was processing a limb late at night and found a Black Widow spider on it next to my hand. The coyotes could be heard in the night as close as 200 to 300 meters away, if I had to guess roughly. Not that coyotes are typically brave enough to approach people with a fire going, but bring some protection (as you should for remote camping anyway).

The campsite was great, there was prepared firewood at the site and small dry sticks already set up in the fire pit for easier lighting. The temperature was surprisingly comfortable under the tree coverage, despite it being in the 80s.
We had originally booked this site when it was marked as pet friendly and planned to stay with our dog.
However, the owner has two roaming outside dogs that are super sweet, but didn’t get along with our pup. Stormy promptly refunded us and offered to host us again another time for free (without the dog) since we are local.

The campgrounds were very well kept and there was plenty of space at our campsite. The communal kitchen area was really nice as well.

This site was perfect. Very private. When I got there Andrea let me know if be the only camper that night and to do what I willed. So that's exactly what I did. It's nice when given the opportunity to be one with nature 😉

Beautiful! Extremely quiet and peaceful. Hot shower , outdoor kitchen , the place is always kept immaculate. No trash to be seen. Abandoned amounts of shade from the trees. Everything from the trails, to the pond are just beautiful! Caleb is always extremely responsible and helpful…This place is a 10 out of 10 no doubt!
