We keep the lounge area as clean as possible but at the end of the day it is an outdoor kitchen! Kitchenwares will have a layer of dust even if cleaned the day prior, so please give everything a rinse before you using!
You may read about mosquitoes in some of our past reviews, but I am happy to share that we now have a monthly mosquito service in place that has mitigated that issue :)

History of our location Count De Galvez awarded a land grant on Garcon Point to Antonio Garzon following his 1781 Siege of Pensacola in consideration of “his good services rendered as an interpreter to the Indians of Pensacola." The grant was held for 35 years before Maria Garzon, who survived husband Antonio, sold the land they called Garzon’s Point to Joseph (Jose) Bonifay.
The land uses were favorable for cattle grazing and turpentining through the 1800s. Many more pioneer families moved into the area and began their own business in the booming industrial opportunities of western Florida. It came to be known as Yellow River Marsh State Buffer Preserve on June 12, 2000, when it was purchased by the state of Florida to protect rare and environmentally sensitive lands, plants and animals.
Through generous donations, Preservation 2000 and the Florida Forever Program, more land was added to protect contiguous habitat of the Garcon Ecosystem.
Today Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park provides recreational opportunities for hiking and nature study along the Great Florida Birding Trail among rare and endemic plant species and within one of Florida’s oldest multi-cultural frontiers.The preserve is located in Santa Rosa County on Garcon Point, which separates Escambia Bay from Blackwater Bay.
Nearly 20 rare and endangered species of plants 🪴 and animals make their homes along the bay and its wet prairies, dome swamps and flatwoods.

Camping On The Farm! This is a living quarters horse trailer that we use to travel with our horses. It is a small space! Set on a working farm 5 miles down a red dirt road, the camper offers beautiful views of the Farm and wonderful interaction with nature and the farm animals. The Farm offers the peace and quiet of country life while being just a short distance from the OWA Amusement Park, fine dining, great malls, an outlet center, and the beautiful Gulf beaches.

Camping On The Farm! This is a living quarters horse trailer that we use to travel with our horses. It is a small space! There is a queen size bed in the upper area, a kitchenette with an undercounter refrigerator, a microwave, a two burner gas cooktop, and an outdoor grill. The bathroom has a toilet and a 24" x 30" stand up shower. The kitchen sink is also the bathroom sink. There is a small 3 gallon water heater which will provide about 5 minutes of hot water, meaning you have 5 minutes to shower. We provide a coffee maker (French press), ground coffee, fresh eggs from our chickens, and a loaf of fresh bread (for your consumption or to feed the animals). We do not provide a cooked breakfast. There is no TV or radio. The Camper is nestled 17 miles from Town, so you may want to shop on your way here. The Eastern Shore Center is located at Exit 38, where you can find great shopping, many restaurants, and a Publix grocery store. We try to keep various essential items in the pantry and there is a stocked kitchen (pots, pans, plates, glasses, flatware). TV, landline telephone, and internet are not available. You should have good cell phone service, Verizon and AT&T 4G , outside. Check-in is any time after 3pm and Check-out is 10am.

History of our location Count De Galvez awarded a land grant on Garcon Point to Antonio Garzon following his 1781 Siege of Pensacola in consideration of “his good services rendered as an interpreter to the Indians of Pensacola." The grant was held for 35 years before Maria Garzon, who survived husband Antonio, sold the land they called Garzon’s Point to Joseph (Jose) Bonifay.
The land uses were favorable for cattle grazing and turpentining through the 1800s. Many more pioneer families moved into the area and began their own business in the booming industrial opportunities of western Florida. It came to be known as Yellow River Marsh State Buffer Preserve on June 12, 2000, when it was purchased by the state of Florida to protect rare and environmentally sensitive lands, plants and animals.
Through generous donations, Preservation 2000 and the Florida Forever Program, more land was added to protect contiguous habitat of the Garcon Ecosystem.
Today Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park provides recreational opportunities for hiking and nature study along the Great Florida Birding Trail among rare and endemic plant species and within one of Florida’s oldest multi-cultural frontiers.The preserve is located in Santa Rosa County on Garcon Point, which separates Escambia Bay from Blackwater Bay.
Nearly 20 rare and endangered species of plants 🪴 and animals make their homes along the bay and its wet prairies, dome swamps and flatwoods.

There is a small 3 gallon water heater which will provide about 5 minutes of hot water, meaning you have 5 minutes to shower. We provide a coffee maker (French press), ground coffee, fresh eggs from our chickens, and a loaf of fresh bread (for your consumption or to feed the animals). We do not provide a cooked breakfast. There is no TV or radio. The Camper is nestled 17 miles from Town, so you may want to shop on your way here. The Eastern Shore Center is located at Exit 38, where you can find great shopping, many restaurants, and a Publix grocery store. We try to keep various essential items in the pantry and there is a stocked kitchen (pots, pans, plates, glasses, flatware). TV, landline telephone, and internet are not available. You should have good cell phone service, Verizon and AT&T 4G , outside. Check-in is any time after 3pm and Check-out is 10am.

Joseph was super friendly, and the property is a great place for a mental reset.
I stayed in the glamping tent which was extremely reasonable.
You are provided running water, there’s a bathhouse available (shower, washer and dryer.)
There are trails you can walk featuring lush vegetation.
I will be back soon for a multi day stay!

Joe and his wife deserve recognition because what they’ve built here is honestly kind of magical.
From the second you arrive you can feel how much thought went into the place. It feels safe, intentional, and just… good. There’s a peaceful little walking path, small details everywhere, and this unspoken positive energy where even other guests say good morning like normal humans instead of pretending nobody exists.
Joe goes out of his way to make sure you’re set up with whatever you need without hovering. You can tell this isn’t just a side project — they actually care and they’re still expanding and making it even better.
I stayed in the glamping tent and it was easily the best sleep I’ve had in weeks. As someone who spends about 7 months a year on the road and drives 60,000+ miles annually, I don’t say that lightly. I’ve stayed in a lot of places. This is easily one of the best.
My dogs were welcomed like they were just part of the deal (which any traveler with dogs knows is rare), the shower was great, the bathroom was clean and well kept, and everything just worked the way you hope places will but often don’t.
My only real regret is not finding this place sooner. If I had known about it earlier, I would have happily stayed for weeks instead of just a couple nights.
This is the kind of spot you hope people treat with respect so it remains what it is, but I know Joe will keep it that way.

This place is somewhere that I could spend an entire month ! The land is beautiful, incredibly clean and maintained and peaceful. The highlight of the place for me is the shared communal area. So much thought and intention put into it, couches, gas fire pit, clean and beautifully painted and designed. Also for longer term campers there is a full kitchen, yoga mats, lanters and so much more. You can basically show up with just a tent and have everything else you need provided. Amazing place highly recommend

The property is really nice, it has some pretty cool plants and an abundance of birds that sing peacefully in the morning.. I unfortunately didn’t try the trails, but they were lit up and cute looking at the trail heads. Joe is very friendly and helped out when I had questions or concerns. The camp is setup to promote community, everyone was very welcoming and neighborly.

We enjoyed our time here. Our dog really loved having a large space to run. There are ticks in the yard she would pick up every time she was out. It is pretty noisy. You’re at the intersection of two major roads and there is a local airport across the road that has helicopters flying every night except Sunday. The bathroom and laundry were really great! I’m not sure that I would pay the price again due to the noise. Thanks!

We had a great time at this location. But to be honest we were just sleeping here.
There are some things that might not make it so for others. It is very close to a busy highway, which is very noisy.
While there is a NICE bathhouse, there was no hot water. And there were no window coverings on the double French doors that served as the entrance. It faced a driveway so there was traffic going up and down. So basically you were exposed.
The owner has a wonderful big dog. Sweet as sugar but when the dog came running at me full tilt it was a little unnerving. She was not under her owners control. Plus I had my two smaller dogs on leashes and I was actually afraid of what they might do to the bigger dog.
I asked if he might put his dog up which he wasn’t willing to do.
All that being said it served its purpose

No need for alarms, the many kinds of birds will take care of that. Joseph was helpful, friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our nights there with a fire under the stars! Most of the trails were flooded so we didn't get to do much hiking, but we tried. It had just rained a lot. Can't control mother nature. The trails we did walk had cute entrances and were well groomed. Our dogs loved having free reign to explore! A hot shower after a cooler night felt great and laundry was a pleasant bonus. It was a nice, relaxing option to experience a little more outdoors in Florida on our vacation. We would stay again if we found ourselves in the area.

Weekend Trip to Sandy Creek Resort
Amazing. The yurt was Super spacious and the tub and the kayaking was super fun. Me and my fiancée really loved it.
The outdoor kitchen was great and it had everything I needed to make some food.
PLUS the JUNIPER KITTY WAS THE SWEETEST!

20 ft travel trailer
Had a great time camping at Travel Downs. Location is wonderful. Quiet for being in a relatively urban area, does have some traffic noise at times.
Only a couple hours from Biloxi to the west and Panama City to the east made it a great spot to see different things.
