Our grandparents moved to the farm on Little Crow Creek on September 27, 1927 from up in Sinking Cove. They had six children with our dad, Charlie Jr., being one of them. Charlie Stubblefield Sr. was a very interesting man with a wide curiosity in just about anything that had to do with history, Indian artifacts, Civil War, fossils, oral history, religion and more. Therefore, the small museum on the property next to the pavilion is dedicated to our grandfather. Charlie Sr. and our grandmother served as Justices of the Peace for over 30 years. Further, our grandmother was the backbone of the family, and was a gracious lady with a special personality to handle the rigors of the day; we miss them both very much. The area has many interesting stories and legacies of characters of yesterday and today. Escape the crowded, generic campgrounds on this rural property that is designed with RVs up to 45 ft in mind and enjoy the peaceful space. Learn more about this land: Out little slice of heaven has a beautiful spring fed creek and two large fields to play in. The creek can be waist deep in areas but mostly is good for sitting in and just relaxing. Extremely quiet on a dead end road. We have 5 bars of AT&T 5g cell service, Verizon can be hit or miss. All other cell services do not work. We love the creek and our secluded valley. Only a few farmers live down the road. This makes for a very private experience that can be naturalist / clothing optional friendly. The creek is secluded with plenty of trees to enjoy however you wish. Spaces are extremely level and there are good Satellite tv abilities. We have firewood on site and two stone fire pits. Nearby is a wonderful old grist mill, Tim's Ford state park, Tim's Ford lake, Jack Daniels Distillery and other attractions. We are also about 45 minutes from Huntsville, AL with the NASA Space and Science Center. Space #1 is closest to the road. Space #2 has a larger patio.  This retreat is the Perfect way to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet not too far away from essentials.  Hiking adventures nearby include University of the South Domain, Buggy Top, Walls Of Jerico and many more. 30 and 50 Amp pedestals at each site along with water and sewer hookups. Level sites. Due to health regulations, we only accept RVs with a pottie system as we do not offer bathroom facilities.

Over a short gravel driveway. Open dirt and native grass with shade trees randomly. Approx 3 acres of open, rought terrain and 2 acre of wooded area. There is a ravine on both sides of the property. A few areas close to the road are flat or up near the old white building, but much has varying degrees of incline to it. Tennessee River is 4 miles away. Lake Nickajack is 15 miles away. Franklin State Forest is 13 miles away. South Pittsburg is a quaint little town and home of the Lodge Cast Iron skillet. There is a Lodge store, museum and restaurant to go visit. Excellent food at the restaurant there: Big Bad Breakfast. Additionally other great restaurants in town and a superb coffee shop. Also the home of the National Cornbread Festival the last weekend in April. My land here for you has no water available and no electricity nor trash or sewer. Just raw land and beauty overlooking the edge of the mountain down over the town and river. My house is across from this property.

When purchased the home was a small non descript cottage with a pole barn in the back field. It has grown to support grape, blackberry and muscedime vines.The original home has expanded through time and around 20 years ago, the pole barn was converted into a large 1200 square foot cabin with modern conveniences. My husband and I actually enjoyed living full time in the cabin for a period of 5 years before returning to reside in the main house. The cabin consists of 1 large common space room with sitting area and kitchen. The antique farm sink has hot and cold running water. Also available is a large refrigerator, toaster, microwave oven, hot plate, coffee pot and portable dishwasher. The antique Hoosier cabinet holds cooking utensils and silverware and located above the kitchen counter you will find plates, bowls, cups and glasses for your use. The water is well water, pure and delicious without chemicals. The cabin is equipped with a full size pool table for our guests enjoyment. The master bedroom offers a comfortable sleigh bed, full bathroom with shower and just outside the bedroom is a comfortable patio to enjoy, complete with table and chairs for two and outdoor fire place. Also available is a twin bed tucked in the corner of the area between the main room and bedroom. For guests wishing to continue their exercise routine, a modern treadmill is available as well. Walk the spacious well landscaped yard with multiple seating venues including a large hammock. For a quiet night of movie enjoyment, bring your favorite movies and make use of the DVD/VCR machine and wide screen television. Why do we call our property Whippoorwill Woods? Did you know that whippoorwills don’t nest in trees? They lay their eggs on the ground in the forest. They’re birds that love camping! As soon as we heard the whippoorwills start singing in the spring, we knew it was the perfect name. We’re so excited to share our property with campers who love nature as much as we do. We specifically set up the campsites to give as much privacy as possible. We hope you’ll come visit and soak up the bird songs, the wind in the trees, and the beautiful sunsets over the mountains. We have 20 acres of savannah grassland full of native plants and wildflowers and over 80 untouched acres full of awesome rock formations and creeks with waterfalls available for you to hike. There's a stocked fish pond for catch and release fishing and a gorgeous view overlooking the Cumberland Plateau and the Sherwood Valley. Experienced and beginner campers are welcome! We live on one side of the property, so we’re available to assist (setting up tents for the first few times is no joke!) or we’re happy to give you as much space and solitude as you need. We have three campsites available in the native savannah grassland, and one that is a "hike-in and choose your favorite spot in the woods" site. Space #2 has a larger patio.  This retreat is the Perfect way to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet not too far away from essentials.  Hiking adventures nearby include University of the South Domain, Buggy Top, Walls Of Jerico and many more. 30 and 50 Amp pedestals at each site along with water and sewer hookups. We have 20 acres of savannah grassland full of native plants and wildflowers and over 80 untouched acres full of awesome rock formations and creeks with waterfalls available for you to hike. There's a stocked fish pond for catch and release fishing and a gorgeous view overlooking the Cumberland Plateau and the Sherwood Valley. Experienced and beginner campers are welcome! We live on one side of the property, so we’re available to assist (setting up tents for the first few times is no joke!) or we’re happy to give you as much space and solitude as you need. We loved the glamping cabin and the views. It matches the description well. Great place to stargaze too we spotted some meteors as well! But it was super chilly and there was just one heater so that was little hard to sleep we assumed there would be more. But in summer I think it would have been the best. We didn't get to interact with hosts a lot but they were super responsive. Would definitely recommend but come geared up.

Wonderful property with gorgeous views! Very pleased and we had the entire place to ourselves because there was no one else staying. Lots of butterflies! Kristine & Sarah were very helpful and kind. Would stay here again. I do recommend bringing a shade tent, a couple of the sites have natural shade from trees. Ours did not, we had a shade tent so it was not an issue.

This was our first time in a travel trailer so needed somewhere that had easy facilities. We didn't think we would find anywhere since it was Labor Day weekend, but then found River Ridge. The campground is very easy to get to and each site is a pull through. The grounds are very well kept, sites clean and level. Bathrooms were spotless. They had water slides for the kids and bingo for the adults. Will definitely visit here again.

This spot has everything you want, showers, toilets, live music on certain days. Great little hiking trails that take you to the bottom of the valley where there’s some cool sites. Might have to brave the spiderwebs and mosquitoes to get there though. Big pond/lake you can swim in with a front desk and store for all your camping supply needs. I’d definitely come back here again.

We had a great time hanging out by the pond fishing and taking in all the wildflowers and butterflies! We were greeted by a big King snake on our way to the porta potty, we spooked each other and he took off but he was beautiful! Porta potty was very clean and well maintained! Sites were fully booked for Labor Day weekend but we had so much privacy, loved how secluded the sites were! I will say the pond overlook site is on an incline so be prepared for sleeping at an angle. Overall a wonderful experience!

The place is so pretty. The sites are level and so peaceful. We also loved the creek! The only bad part is we encountered several wasp nest and I did get stung. There was a huge nest in the provided grill, in the electric box, and another one in the logs that were provided for the fire ring. This is to be expected this time of year so be sure to bring wasp spray!
