We had talked about moving to the woods for years, but finally decided to turn our dreams into reality. After hiking through what felt like every property for sale over 100 acres in North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, we finally found the perfect spot. Why do we call our property Whippoorwill Woods? Did you know that whippoorwills don’t nest in trees? They lay their eggs on the ground in the forest. They’re birds that love camping! As soon as we heard the whippoorwills start singing in the spring, we knew it was the perfect name. We’re so excited to share our property with campers who love nature as much as we do. We specifically set up the campsites to give as much privacy as possible. We hope you’ll come visit and soak up the bird songs, the wind in the trees, and the beautiful sunsets over the mountains. We have 20 acres of savannah grassland full of native plants and wildflowers and over 80 untouched acres full of awesome rock formations and creeks with waterfalls available for you to hike. There's a stocked fish pond for catch and release fishing and a gorgeous view overlooking the Cumberland Plateau and the Sherwood Valley. Experienced and beginner campers are welcome! We live on one side of the property, so we’re available to assist (setting up tents for the first few times is no joke!) or we’re happy to give you as much space and solitude as you need. We have three campsites available in the native savannah grassland, and one that is a "hike-in and choose your favorite spot in the woods" site. 1.3 acre property hidden in small town Glencoe, AL. Beautiful tall pines enclose this beautiful site in front of an old public cemetery plot that's rarely visited but has a pathway through the woods for exploring, a circle path we named Panther Path will lead you right back to camp. (The name Panther Path has a story. Basically keep an eye out for black panthers in these parts.) Our family and farm animals live on the property as well (Don't mind the rooster in the AM) but there's plenty of room to pitch a tent, bring your small camper or smaller skoolie (If rig is over 25 feet please message me after booking and we can figure out how to accommodate your rig best before arrival.) There is plenty of room for a couple tents as well if you are traveling as a group, amenities include: a brick fire circle, wood garden set for sitting with small table and some privacy from our family but a lot of privacy from the outside world, the graveyards are free to explore, but if you go in the gated one we ask that you relatch the gate. Firewood can be ready at your campsite for an additional cost. We have seasonal events as well as a farm stand, a bus shop, and a greenhouse. (These are still projects in progress.) We have two dogs, Boogie - a male and a very large dog, LGD - Livestock Guardian Dog, her name is Maple. Both dogs are very nice and kind. Maple's job is to protect our ducks and chickens from predators. She will bark but she will not hurt you. She will especially love you if you have treats or say 'Hello, Maple!" We will try to have her put away before bookings if enough notice is given. She will not hurt a human, she knows her job and duty on our homestead but she can be nosy as she runs the perimeter of our property often. If you have a fear of dogs or would like to make sure she is put up just send me a message beforehand and I will make sure she is put away secure. She also will not mind other dogs but please make sure if you bring a pet it is kind to other animals and we expect all pets are leashed at all times unless inside your rig.

This was our 3rd or 4th trip to the site. It's a beautiful location and the road in is an (unmarked and unlabeled) adventure. I would ignore Chelsea H's advice- she clearly knows how to drive her 2wd CRV! We had a lifted Tundra in our group that took on so much mud it did an alternator on the way home and we had to have it towed....

Absolutely loved it here and wish we could have stayed longer. We did tent camping and it was so peaceful and beautiful, many sites to camp and private. Just behind the tent sites was a wonderfully maintained RV park with very clean bath houses, pools, and play areas for kids. We came up for 1 night as a couple and want to come back soon for 2 nights with our kids, one of the nicest spots we’ve found to camp.

3 nights at LittleRiver.US Moto Camp

We loved tent camping at Little River Adventure Center. Access to a shower (during seasons where pipes won’t freeze) is something we aren’t used to, but warmly welcome! We feel like the sites offer a good amount of privacy especially if you get the first pick. We chose the very last site and it’s definitely the most secluded, and the easement allowed great stargazing. Great hiking access to DeSoto State Park and Little River Canyon. We also drove 45 minutes over to Cloudland Canyon which was another great park to hike.

1 night at Graveyard Homestead

We had the best time here! 🌄 Shay and Ken were so welcoming, and my kids had a blast hanging out with their kids — it felt like one big family. Waking up to the rooster crowing was such a cool experience, and my boys loved exploring (so much to see, especially up at the top of the property 👀). We got to feed the ducks, chickens, and goats — and omg, the tacos… totally made the night 🌮💯 Also at the top of the property is more 🪦graves which made this “spooky” trip awesome for our little ones! Great site, very nice well appointed pitch areas that are all individually secluded, you could choose from wooded or non wooded areas, there is also a cool nature trial that runs around the large property, if you like motorcycle trail riding you can actually rent 250cc trail bikes on site, these can be used for riding the extensive trails very close by to take you to some stunning scenic areas. You are also situated very close to a beautiful 11 mile scenic byway with several vista points. This area would be great all year round especially in the Autumn. Also a great little shower and bath house, with more showers being installed and planned. Giorgio and his Wife Tiffany are very kind and gracious hosts.

This RV community was beautiful. There are many sites along the lake with picturesque views. There are plenty of activities on the grounds and the staff could not have been more friendly. I highly recommend staying here!

Such a beautiful and scenic place to camp. Very peaceful and quiet. The perfect place to catch a stunning sunset! The sights are spaced apart with enough privacy. Had fun fishing in the pond. The hosts were very hospitable. Definitely will stay again!

My pup and I had such a great time at this site. The hosts were so great and most importantly I felt super safe here. I like to do quite a bit on my own and safety is always at the top of my list. The property was beautiful and peaceful. Would definitely recommend and revisit. Thank you!

Giorgio was waiting for me when I finally arrived after 10 pm. He showed us to the campsites and let us pick one out. Slept great, made a pot of coffee at the restroom sink. Enjoyed a quiet morning, showered and headed on my way. Very close to Little River Canyon too.
