Heart of the Country is our home and also your own personal twelve acre state park whenever you stay with us! We are less than 15 minutes from Interstate 10 and from Interstate 65. I offer a half-dozen campsites, all either on a relatively level paved driveway or grass. Power (20 amp and 30 amp) and water is available. We have two 30 amp campsites, which are first come, first served. WIFI is available! (please ask for password). We have a portable toilet for your use. This is a Longleaf Pine sanctuary with lots of nature trails. This is also a hobby farm with livestock (Donkey, two Goats, a Duck and a flock of Chickens). I feed the livestock grain every morning usually between 8 and 9 am, and again hay before dusk. You are always welcome to join me and I'll introduce all of them to you! My dog, Homer, is our very friendly welcoming ambassador who will enthusiastically great you upon your arrival. I put him up in his kennel each evening around dusk, then lock him in his shed until morning which keeps him from backing during the night. We also host an AirBnB, so other guests may be here as well. Texting via the app is our preferred mode of communication. If you call, please leave a message if I can't answer, and I will call you back. We are slowly updating the site photos. Use them only to determine your price, for example: A site with 30 amp power and water is $25 per night. A site with 20 amp power and water is $20 per night. Dollar General is a mile away and it’s about a 15 minute trip to Walmart, grocery and fast food. I highly recommend Heart of the Country for anyone wanting a peaceful get away.

I had a fantastic time! The camping sites have so much character! Amanda was super accommodating and sweet! Her dog. Bella was so adorable! I would totally go back again! It's so close to the water, cute hiking path, cute showers, and a sweet setup for cooking and having coffee in the morning.

Camp spot in relation to the pavilion. We were able to run a 100 ft extension cord down from the pavilion to both of the tent and plug in fans. However, the weather was great so we didn't really need them.

Weekend Trip to Larry & Sheila's Blackwater Getaway

What an incredible trip! The campsite was so spacious and very private. We were the only group over the weekend, so it was very secluded. The amenities were awesome! We spend most of our time hanging out around under the pavilion, sitting by the fire pit, and fishing in the river. Larry and Sheila stopped by to check on us on the second day and recommended some great fishing spots and bait! They were so incredibly kind. We will definitely be coming back!

Very nice property, cute camping sites with ability to make a campfire. Portable toilet close by and outdoor shower available. Curious donkey, goats and chickens at the property as well
